I think my boyfriend would be rather upset with me if I started dating without telling him.
Besides, he's waiting for Bethesda to make a Fallout MMO (which they recently purchased the rights to), so I doubt I could convince him to join us. |

It is possible to meet the person you end up spending the rest of your life with in EVE.
Me and my husband met in EVE and finally took the leap and got married a bit over a year ago. Was difficult sice we lived on the other side of the planet of eachother ofc but we made it work I also know that we arent the only couple who met in EVE. Around the same time there was actually another couple who went trough the exact same peperwork as we had to. Was nice to have someone to talk about it with to be honest.
But both in EVE and in real life it works the same way,if you try to look for a relationship it wont happen, and you cant force a girl to like you. I know that a lot of guys in EVE has this idea that if you shower a female player with gifts and whatever she will atleast have cyber with you but this is bs.
So..if you do meet a real girl in EVE,dont treat her any different then you would treat the random guy. It just becomes uncomfterbale for her,and most corps that have real female players will be very fast to kick you if you start to harass the female members. Be polite, and dont think they need any special treatment just because they have boobs

I read several pages of this, and I'm both depressed and distressed that a large portion of responding males seem to believe that not one single woman who plays EVE is attractive in any way. On the other hand, I'm beyond enraged when I see other women using their gender in a perverted corruption of its elegance and beauty; they con, swindle, and manipulate men in a fashion only befitting of the basest females of society. I have been called a prude, but surely some of the hostility being flung in my face by men is a direct result of these tramps, who so flippantly toy with very deep-seated urges and emotions? I assure you, gentlemen and not-so-gentle men, that there are those of us who are neither homely nor histrionic, who aspire to grace and poise in all things... even Internet space ships. |

No need to get defensive. I didn't directly refer to anyone, now did I? I hardly even know you, so I cannot fairly pass judgement on you, personally. I only know that I have met many women, personally and virtually, who fit the above description to a T. By the time the first several words come out of their vapid mouths, I want nothing more than to erase them all from the planet. Likely just a personal problem, you see.

Generally speaking, yeah, there is a mindset that if you are female and playing an MMO, you are not attractive. I know better, but any females I meet (if they are truly of the fairer sex) I give a relatively average appearance in my head. Just makes it easier if they all look the same. Then again, I also assume every person behind the toon is a male unless otherwise corrected. This allows me to operate on a professional level without worrying about other distractions.
On your point of harlotry, I think that it's unfair to assume that all women who use their charms are of the basest classification. Only a fool does not use the tools given to him to advance and succeed in life. History is rife with the mechinations of beautiful women who, through a twist of gender fate, could not seize power for themselves and thus used a man to do it for them. I do not begrudge them for that, rather I applaud them. I do not think that it lowers their value as a person, because they are making use of what they have. If anything, I view with contempt the men that can so easily be manipulated. At my age, I see the games for what they are, but ten years ago would have been another matter.
I have a demotivational poster that reads; SEXISM - Only ugly women complain about it. Whether a true stereotype or not is irrelevent (Of course, I have another that says STEREOTYPES - They exist for a reason...take that as you will), and I am actually surprised someone hasn't fired that grapeshot in response to what you posted. Nevertheless, how you view things doesn't make them any more right or wrong then how I view things. If using your tools is abhorrent and offensive to you, then by Jupiter's Crack, don't use them. You can't change others who will use them, to greater or lesser effect. Rather, you should take pride in how you conduct yourself and go about your life.
As for the WGoE, seems like a nice bunch. Visited their channel last night, had a goofy chat with a guy named Deuce and then went about my merry way. The rest of them reminded me of cats when you let the dog in...very wary and quiet, with that lurker mode on. Good times. To stand before a man at an inquisition, knowing that he will rejoice when we die, knowing that he will commit us to the stake and its horrors without a moment's hesitation or remorse if we do not satisfy him, is not an experience much less cruel because our inquisitor does not whip us or rack us or shout at us. |
