You may have spotted the EON people at the Fanfest in their white shirts, and even talked to them. Zapatero talked to a lot of you at least and he's written down his thoughts on your feedback. Advertisements in EON is getting more expensive, but you will gain more in the form of your ads showing up in the EVE splash screen for everyone to see as they log in. Make sure you get your ad in before the dealine!
Please read Getting the message across, a new blog by Zapatero, to get all the details.

How about blogging the stuff we actually want to know about, like what is happening with Trinity. The how/when/why etc of the changes you are doing.

I'm sure he would, however workers do not always refer to economic reality when they demand a pay rise, as I'm sure you can appreciate.

We at EON have asked CCP this a number of times over the last 3 years, as have players, believe me I'm sure all us with something to promote, EON, EVE TV, EVE Radio, websites and alliances, etc, would love to be able to buy in-game billboard ads.

I for one would buy in an instant, it wouldn't be so bad if a dev left a message stating why there are no other payment plans and why.

EON is sold through the EVE Store and therefore can only be purchased via payment methods the EVE Store supports. That said, I know CCP are working on expanding the options in that regard, but I don't know when they will become active. I'm sure kieron will be able to enlighten people when that will be, in good time, of course
EON #010 will be arriving on doormats and in mailboxes from the first weekend in Jan

I agree with this girl. We get ads enough places already. Some of us play to get away from the crap they vomit at us constantly. I don't want to get vomited on more than neccessary.
And why does this go to developers blog? I thought MMM publishing was it's own company without connection to CCP. That's what you've said all along, as far as i know.

Vomiting on people is not our aim . Ads in EON really ad to the experience of reading it and we want to use those ads on the splash screen. These are not EON ads, but ads for EVE alliances, corps and websites. By your reasoning I assume you'd rather CCP took the billboards out of the game rather be able to make use of them? As for ads advertising EON, we're aiming to make those less "BUY THIS NOW, IT ROCKS" into ads that are a bit more subtle and interesting/amusing. You will of course be free to ignore them
MMM Publishing is separate from CCP, yes, but EON magazine is very much a collaboration. I agree though that using Dev Blogs is not the best way, but atm it is the only way for me to get the message across.

It was a bit hash written
What I meant was that adverts in the magazine isnt a bad thing, especially if it's about eve alliances and stuff. But I wouldn't like to see adverts being placed everywhere inside the EVE client. We got too much adverts spewed at us already in real life.
But making the billboards show adverts for ingame alliances wasnt a too bad idea. I was more thinging along with "Support your local dentists, drink Coca Cola!" when you said adverts, but now i realise that you mean ingame-related ones. I could live with that :)
But my point that I would love to be able to PLAY and not just have to filter through 129481264918^214180 adverts still stands. I just have the experience that once you allow something in a "weak" way, it will at the end develop into accepting more than you intended. --- Unless explicitly stated, this post does not represent my alliance, corporation, my own, or any other living organism's view. |

Zap, don't take it the wrong way, I've seen the EON ads and they're very very nice. In fact I think they would be absolutely great to put on the billboards, it adds a richer environment to the game. However that doesn't mean they belong on the login screen, especially since it's now a full screen thing. CCP already takes a little more liberty than I'd like to see throwing up other things on that screen, I really don't want to see anything on that screen, be it CCP ads or amusing pieces from players. For that kind of thing we have more appropriate elements like the forums, EON, the billboards, and even the daily news feed is more appropriate.
I really don't want to have to see someone write the EVE version of AdBlock, but people are going to try blocking those things if you add them, because the frequency is no doubt going to be much greater than that of CCP's handful of current ads. We don't want to ignore them, we want to not see them in the first place. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Automated Influence Map |

The ads won't be appearing every day, and I'm sure they won't be full-screen. The login screen is the doorway to EVE; neither in-game or out, and therefore absolutely the BEST place to have ads.
