I appreciate the effort you've put into this, and it has some clear potential, but I think you need to work out another method. Even if it was the exact same data Serenity Steele's shows, just in a table formatted like you have would be quite the improvement. We don't really need fancy calculations (or, at least, not solely fancy calculations). Raw data is quite fine.

The top 6 is pretty accurate, I'd say. I'd probably swap TCF with -A- and that's a fairly honest top 10. MC would factor higher, not sure how good they are at maintaining 0.0, but they know how to operate out here.

Originally by: Darknesss Obviously a bit of work went into this, but im not so sure theres a market for this sort of information.
Serenity Steele's for example sticks to basic numbers, its informative but doesnt really rate an alliance other than how many stations it has.
I believe the mistake here is that the figures dont really show much information at all, other than an alliance losing space will have a much higer ranking than an alliance gaining space.
All in all, i appreciate the effort but its not really relevant enough for me to use or check up on. What the people really want is some sort of logical number crunching that shows an alliances power, but im not sure such a list could ever exist.
Dark
The bold is a very valid point on why this "ranking" page fails. As far as im concerned giving a rank to an alliance is saying theyre more powerful than those ranked below them.(stating obvious i suppose) In any case, for further example of fail...
If you increase bob's density to that of goons (about double) they DROP below TCF... or lose about 50% of their score... So question being, how did the OP logically make a "ranking" page that punishes your ranking for population growth. Dare I say it seems almost designed to put bob drastically ahead of every alliance in the game.Whether on purpose or not, thats exactly what Tanxor's ranking equation does.

What about The Church? What about Terra Incognita? Do you really believe MC should rank 24th? Why are you treating density as a bad thing in determining score?

This ^
It doesn't show "best" alliances, how could it? No one really knows and no one would agree regardless of "stats".
If it was relabeled as simply a population density ranking no one could argue with it.

Considering pretty much every large 0.0 alliance has pets and the smaller 0.0 alliances are pets judging how good a alliance is would be a waste of time considering you would have to fight their masters/pets as well as them.

Hats off for the work you put into this, however like Darknesss said: there is no real market nor need for such condensed information at this time. Another problem is that the scoring is somewhat arbitary (your 100* [total/density] scoring) and doesn't really have any weight when you try to compare two alliances.
MC is for example on #24, when they could easily kick half of the alliances that are ranked above them our of their homes. In the end, the list doesn't say much about the real ingame status, but its a nice piece of work anyway and at least some food for thought. ___________________________

Nice site but I think the rating could use some more thought, though it is cool to see us at number 46 :) little higher then on outpost alert...
I think if you want to rank an aliance you need some way of assess things like pvp efficiency, industrial capacity, size of cap fleet, super capitals or not, no. of outposts controlled etc. You could probably only estimate this data from killboards if you like (but accuracy becomes an issue then).
Population densisty is a bit of a flawed metric in my opinion.

because people might actually believe that this is a valid way to calculate strength , but in reality it is a measurement on how much an alliance is stretched.

Your calculations of (100 / Density)*Systems*AvgSovLevel, are.. amazing.
I espesially like the thing showing who have not deployed a POS in the last 2 weeks overview. I think they are all dying.

Rankings are nothing but a peen stroker.
There is no way to accurately rank an alliance. The grounds needed to do so can't be calculated, this includes average members online (no point having millions of members if you only have 10 online). Then there is morale, without morale, alliances die, you need morale to strive, this one is completely uncalculatable, maybe if every member in every alliance filled out a survey with level their level of morale could you make a fine average. Though in reallity it's completely impossible.
I like these things, but not to see who is better than who, but it's good to see how other alliances outside of my own are going on in this computer game we call real life.
Nice work on it, but I would take the focus away from the ranking though. It's the last thing I think about when I see these sort of thing. Mainly because I don't care who is the best and who isn't. For me everyone who isn't blue are scum of the earth and need to be sent to their cloning bays regardless of abillity. ----------

Jokes aside though. On that ranking OHGOD and BOB are neck and neck on sov systems. Watching todays sov map I think we can now safely say BOB is not top dog anymore when it comes to sovereignity. Welcome to Nr.1 Goons :) Stations is also very tight for number 1 now. :)
