I have a dream, which is planned, to return an investment of 475 mil within 90 days, with paid interest. I know this can be done faster with some ingenuity, but here is my plan:
Take a new out of the box character and turn them into a self sustained mining pilot.
I have a 66 day skill plan (slightly less as I am on day 3) to outfit this project into a Hulk and mine high sec systems. The end state is an account that is self sufficient (able to afford GTC's with it's profits to stay active) and is able to give a return to initial investors.
400 mil will be used to buy a 90 day GTC, which is by far more efficient than 3x 30 day GTC's. While prices fluxuate, a near 400mil figure should be achievable.
75 mil for skill books. Mainly advanced learning and the Exhumers skill.
Investors may invest anywhere from 5mil to 475mil and expect payouts on Feb 1. Estimated returns are 20-25% and will be figured as first monthly profits - GTC cost. If at least a 20% return is not reached in the first month, investors will be given an option to hold out until reached, or take a 10% buyback of their original investment. GTC cost will be figured as the average price of a 90 day GTC divided by 3.
If significant interest is shown in this project, a sister project will be opened to provide opportunities to investors unable to buy into the original.
Additional information may be requested via eve mail to Gin Moon. Personal profits will be donated to the EVE UFC prize fund.
As for disproving this as a scam, I hope my good reputation as founder of the non profit EVE UFC will prove a testament to my character. EVE UFC is an organization ran out of pocket and with the help of third party donations. More information can be found in the Events section of the forums.

Your going to 100% mine - did I read that right?
How are you going to secure access to low sec?

He can easily get 5 million an hour in high sec and all he has to do is get that ore hauled.
For 95 million to 120 million that means he only needs to mine a total of 19 to 24 hours give or take about the same amount of time hauling and selling the product.

Oh absolutely.
My concern is that the amount of time needed to turn a profit large enough to make investing worth while - for other people.
It's a lonely, long grind to make ISK - and not nearly as passive as I would prefer (from an investment point of view).
I am in no way discouraging the OP - I merely want to know if he plans to mine in Low Sec because that would seem the quickest (time wise) way to do this, and if so, is he getting security from one of his Alt assosciations or is he going to run the gambit of mining alone, in low sec.
I'm always keen on these sorts of small-scale investments - I'm just guaging the risk. Looking forward to hearing more.

I have the ability to mine in 0.0 or low sec. I picked high sec as a base due to it being more attractive from a slightly AFK point of view.
If high sec mining proves to be inefficient, I will switch to low sec, and then to nul sec if that doesn't prove profitable enough.
While I do realize the greatest profit potential exists in 0.0, it also incurs the most effort and work load. They are viable options that will be looked at once this project is able to, but I'm using low ball benchmarks to ensure the highest level of success.
As for EVE Bank, I would prefer to give individuals an opportunity to invest, but it is an option I am looking in a case of no or too few investors.

If you are going to be AFK mining, then a Hulk rigged for maximum cargo would be best. 8000*(1.275^2)*(1.15^2)=17.131km3 of Ore.

The mining wont be done AFK in a sense of turn on and walk away, but I will admit it will be dual boxed most of the time, and not be the primary focus.
However, I do find mining a soothing fallback from the tense times of nonstop combat flying. Thank you for the numbers, though, as I do appreciate some more things to look forward to that I hadn't taken into previous account.
I would love some more feedback on how to make this more attractive to potential investors.

Edited by: Astorothe on 21/11/2007 10:32:29 Ok,
How about some numbers on shares and such. How many shares will you create and sell, how many will you keep, etc.
Hulk is definately the way to go - keep in mind with T2 crystals and strippers (not the nekid kind) it only takes about 8 mins to fill up the hulk.
Edit: do you plan on keeping the character or selling him at the end? I'm guessing keeping and perhaps keep going if this proves sucessful for you and the investors.

My Daughter Larissa started a mining corporation. She was able to give a 28% return on investment after 4 weeks. She did that with selling to Caldari corporations only for MMI-prices (=regional average Heimatar prices).
It is certainly viable to set up a profitable mining corporation, but you have to take into account also the hauling of the minerals. It takes m3's and time and it also is risky in 0.0 or low security space. Is that covered?
You perhaps could contact her and set this up under her Newport Excavations flag?
Just an idea.

John your daughter's mining corporation has made such excellent returns due to her living arrangements being with you. Had she been out on her own (like the OP) she would also need to factor these living arrangements (GTC's) into her calculations.
Either way I still would recommend the op join up with the Newport Group under their fantastic guidance.

After thinking about it a bit more, I was originally going to base returns on individual investments, but I think shares are a bit more popular route to go, and slightly easier to track.
There will be a total of 100 shares at 5 mil a piece. There will be no limit on the amount of shares that can be purchased. If by December 2nd all shares are not sold, I will personally buy the remaining stock. The extra 5 shares will be used as a buffer for unforseen expenses, such as a rise in the cost of GTC's.
Let me rephrase my previous statement about low sec and null sec space... I have protected access to both, albeit far apart from each other. Hauling minerals has already been taken into consideration, and arranged for.
There are no immediate plans for the selling of the character, but it is an option. Preferred plan of action will be to allow initial investors to ride their shares and receive monthly dividends, with the initial dividend to be no less than the figures discussed above. Buy backs will be addressed closer to maturity. Investors will still be guaranteed a full return on their investment in addition to the posted interest.
Thank you for the advice, and I will look into the above mentioned group, and discuss options with them.

Gin Moon contacted me and I'll crunch some mining numbers for her and look into the possibilities of how to make public reports on this plan in a good fashion.
If possible we see if we can make this part of the Newport Excavations endeavour somehow or use Newport Excavations relations to make things more profitable.
As entrepeneur I think it is a viable plan to try. I would ofcourse reinvest in the Caldari Community, but investing in Gin Moon's extended appartement rentings (GTC's) on Kysogo is also very nice. As long it benefits the state into having a good Caldari citizen to our community that doesn't forget his roots when profits will be bigger then expected.
If it so happens between NWPRT and Gin Moon, Gin Moon will come with a statement regarding this.

I know you're not promising returns, but do you have a forecasted return?
Payback by 2/1 sounds great, and you mentioned 20-25% return on investment. Are you saying 20% per month until then, or 20-25% total return over the 2.5 months?
Depending on your forecast, I'd probably be willing to invest a bit in this venture.

The plan is a base return on the initial investment, not a compounded interest. So basically, if someone invests 100mil, the projected return would be 120-125mil. Depending on how current talks turn out, things may or may not change slightly.
There will be a more detailed write up in the next day or two, and will go more in depth on specifics before any terms are locked in to place.

Thanks for the info.
A one off payment of 20-25% interest isn't really something I would invest in. It's too high a risk for such a small one off payment - for me.
Good luck though - keep posting I am keen to see how you go and sure others will invest.

I would like to open this up as shares for investors.
100 shares in total, 5 mil per share.
This will provide funding for the above listed items. Any unsold shares will be picked up by myself.
Payment of the shares will be broken down like this, as I attempt to put it on paper as best as I can:
Monthly dividends will be payed out on the last day of every month. These will be from the result of mining profits. Estimated Survival Costs will be set at 7mil/day, and everything beyond will be considered profit. Shares will be offered a buy back at a rate of 20% in Feb, or share holders can hold out and receive the monthly dividend. Monthly dividends are guaranteed at 10%
The closing date to buy shares is Dec 1 at 2400 Eve Time. Send ISK to Gin Moon
Please let me know if there is any questions, and I will do my best to field them as soon as possible.

Just to clarify, the buyback in February is for the full investment plus 20% of that on top? Also, what will you do if you earn enough to exceed the 10% guarantee, where will that money go?
Providing I'm happy with the answers I'll fund half of this (50 shares). I could do it all but I like to give others a chance

Yes the initial buyback will be 20% plus the initial investment, so 120 mil for ever 100 mil invested.
As for the monthly dividend, 10% is a base, which is guarenteed. If profits are higher, then the monthly dividend will reflect.

Edited by: Samuel Freedom on 24/11/2007 20:51:50 What happens if you have any set backs like being suicide ganked by a group of Carcals? Is this the char you are doing it with ? If so your shield skills will be less than adequate and people will know this and calculate how little it will cost to kill you for a profit/fun. Do you have someone to haul ? Do you have someone to give you a mining bonus?
I am not trying to put you off just a few things to think about. Good luck.

All of those concerns have been taken into consideration. This is not the character that will be doing the mining.
Tanking, hauling, and protection are already being provided. A mining bonus will be present quite often. Organized operations will be a common practice.
Profit will be broken down into ISK/Hour and hours played will be logged, for more accurate accountability of progress. This information will be readily available to all investors. Ship costs are not being factored at this time, although a Hulk price may be added at a later time depending on success. (taking all possible steps to secure investors profits)

I assume you'll use a tech 1 ship while the character trains for exhumers? If so then I'm not too bothered about ship costs until you get to that point, any player should have a few million around for a retriever or something of that nature.
Just in case you'd want to borrow more money to buy/fit a hulk, how would you handle that?
