Oh, one other question:
If advertising in an outpost, does the owner get the listing fee?

Hi I really like this new feature however it's missing at least two key bits of information I tend to find find are very important. List is arranged in terms of how important this information is to picking a corp (my personal view)
1) Play Style (critical) 1a) Mostly impromptu ops or solo play 1b) Mostly scheduled ops; mostly team play 1c) A mix of solo and team play 2) Play Scheduling (rl/playtime balance, important) 2a) There are weekly mandated ops 2b) There are very few (or no) mandated ops 2c) There are occasional mandatory ops 3) Fees (important) 3a) There is no fee to join or maintain membership the corp 3b) There is a fee to join the corp or a fee to maintain membership in the corp 4) War status (Less important) 4a) Corp is in an empire or declared null sec war 4b) The corp is not in an empire war or declared null sec war 4c) The corp is not in empire war and not in a declared state of null sec hostility.
From the corporate end of things, the following information is helpful in evaluating candidates and having a grid view might be cool 1) Has candidate ever been a member of a corp or alliance we consider a Red 2) Has candidate ever been a member of a corp or alliance we consider a blue 3) Candidate sec status

It would be nice to be able to list standings requirements in there as well. Smaller corps, especially, can be very concerned about faction standings since it affects POS placement and other things. When faction warfare is eventually "released," this will be even more critical.

what about a feat. so you can select contry/language. Some corp do only speak/write one language (here I'm thinking about language that's not english). Not all in EVE-online speak or write good in english, and maybe write/speak only in one language

There's one critical thing you've missed - roleplaying. That definitely needs to be in there (although the 4th wall comes into play here, because saying you're a roleplayer in character makes no sense o.o)
Also, you need an 'other' option for corp activities. ----------------------------- "Oh, we're sorry, you had the 'NakedAmarrChicks' bit flagged in your account somehow." "Wait, why was there even a flag for that to begin with?" "..." |

Edited by: LC Sulla on 21/11/2007 21:02:35 Instead of catering to every single variant of operation why not just add one or two 'free codes' in the operations field.
These would be user defined codes allowing a corporation to rename them to something else (i.e. 'low-sec RP PVP', etc...)
Customisation is great . ------------------

When I looked at it a patch or two ago on sisi, there wasn't any way of selecting multiple regions. If that is still not the case, then meh :-(

Option A: 8m isk for a one month advertisement in one region.
Option B: Free forum post that reaches anyone looking for a corporation.
Conclusion: Unless corporate recruiting is no longer permitted on the forums, this is going to flop utterly. Eve voice chat followed a very similar paradigm... while it's true that there vent/ts do cost someone money, for the vast majority of rank-and-file users, it's free. And we've all seen how EvE-Voice has taken off.
So, seems like a good idea and I do like it. But right now, the cost is too great a disincentive. Corps will pursue other avenues of recruitment that, incidentally, are also more effective. This is particularly true now, because people are accustomed to scouring the forum for new corps/members.
Either reducing the cost or removing the alternatives are the only two ways to make this work. And I'm not even confident that just reducing the cost would even be effective to this end. Eve-Voice is pretty cheap, and it still never took hold.

Quote: -) Why the limit of one region per ad? Most players generally couldn't care less in which region a corp is at home, especially in High Sec. Getting a choice of maybe "All Empire Regions" there would be nice (we have offices in pretty much every region, and we generally don't care where our players hang out).
I'll ask the programmers about this one.
Quote: -) In the "Other Adverts" tab, for the "Region" dropdown box, are there more choices than just single regions? Like "Any", "All High Security", "All Outlaw", etc...? Or does someone who doesn't care which region a, let's say, skirmish corp operates in, have to search again and again?
This is due to DB restrictions, but we will see. This is just the first iteration. So there is definetly more to come.
Quote: -) Would it be possible to get an additional option in the ad creation "Allow applicant to see closest office"
This is sort of in, you can see an office in that region so.. it "could" be relatively close. But I see where you are going with this. I too want more info into this all :)
Quote: Will it implement new API key data/functions?
That is unknown at this time. But time will tell.
Quote: There should be an option for players to apply to the corp without having to travel to a office of the corp.
As we are releasing Trinity 2, with new graphics and such... I couldn't get much programmers. Rewriting the application system is further down the road. But this would be the ideal part
Also, don't forget that there are 1000 character freeform (I agree it's a bit small visually) but it is there. So anything that isn't in there you can tell the players there. For example ships what you are required to fly, there are hundreds of ships. And i'm not sure a specific functionality will help with that.
Quote: It should include corp tax rate.
You can see this by show info on the corp itself. But when we make it more spiffy, this could be included.
Quote: you're lacking "mercenary" there tbh. besides that, it looks cool.
hahaha, I thought i actually had put it there.... i'll look into that tomorrow morning and if it isn't in the system, then it will come in the first patch with trinity
Quote: If advertising in an outpost, does the owner get the listing fee?
Why would he? you are listing yourself in a DB that is accessible anywhere, regardless of your location :)
Quote: Elseer Radak wrote alot!
;) Ok, most of this should be in the freeform text box (which will be made bigger on the UI).
But this goes for everything that would require actual input "4-6 pm" and so forth. It would cause such a load on the DB that it won't see the light of day. We have to limit ourselves at some points ;)
Quote: It would be nice to be able to list standings requirements in there as well.
Not a bad idea. Might be difficult to do, but I see your point.
Quote: what about a feat. so you can select contry/language.
We are still looking at this. There could be some simplistic selection box about language of preference or something. But I'll look into it.
Quote: There's one critical thing you've missed - roleplaying.
Yes, I'm sorry :( I'll see that it will get in there!
Quote: Instead of catering to every single variant of operation why not just add one or two 'free codes'
Cause we aren't Google, and we need to save our RamSan! Basically it's a DB issue.
About Corp Registry against the forums... well it goes like this. We have 200 thousand users. 15-25% of them visit the forums more than once a week or so. The rest, visits them once in a while, or never. Using the forums won't be denied or banned. And if you feel like you will use that more, then that is ok as well. But I'm optimistic about it. Might take some time for people to get used to though.
But as I said, there is more coming. And your input is what we need! You are the ones who are going to use it!

Oh noes, 8 million ISK to advertise in a region for recruitment. Much better to compete with a hundred other corps in the channel that aren't distinct in any way.
If you are looking for a corp in a particular region you do not want to leave this would be the best mechanism to find one. Sig removed, lacks Eve-related content. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] - Cortes |

Elseer made me think of something that I believe should be covered outside of the 1000 character text box: time zones!
I'm in MST, possibly the third worst timezone to be in for this game (PST and Aussie/Kiwis get the worst). I'm logging in when most Europeans are going to bed (or are drunk... or both).
If something were to happen to the mighty Paxton or I found myself parting ways with them in the future for whatever reason, it would be great if I could find a corp that is active in timezones closer to my own. I'll learn Ukranian if I have to, but I can't talk to someone that isn't there to talk to.
Also the regional limitations might be a bit too limiting. If a 0.0 pilot were looking to change scenes from the north to the south, for example, where would he look? He's probably not going to fly down to Stain and check out the adverts there.
With this limitation in place what's probably going to end up happening is that one region *cough* Forge *cough* will get picked as the primary recruiting region and the rest won't get covered except by corps looking to snag newbies. --- Honest officer, the dwarf was on fire when I got here! It looks excellent, one thing I would definitely like to see is the option to embed images in the text chunk - even if they are required to be hosted on the persons own server. After all most corps already host their own banners for forum use etc.

Need an option to filter for the age of the corporation.
A player (especially an older one) might want to filter for how "established" a corp is (if you can call the age of a corp that - But you get the drift)-

I want to be able to search for corps that operate in high sec and NOT in 0.0. Also, 1000 characters is TINY! Why so small? These things get deleted within 30 days, right?

I like this idea alot, and I have a suggestion!
How about making that 1000 page 'sales pitch' IGB compatible? People could make up their own fancy logos on their recruitment page and suchlike without you having to do anything about it, perhaps something more in game would be nice later on, but for starters I'd love to see at least this.
Oh, and along with that goes the obvious love the IGB needs so badly ><

This looks promising, but it'll need some tweaking.
The main thing I don't like is that I'm going to have to fly around to a bunch of different regions to place ads. This is a bit of a burden on recruiters, it's also going to be tough on young corps to open an office in each region they want to recruit in. You should be able to view the ads in all regions, just like you can contracts. You'll still have to fly to a specific region to apply to a corp.
I think you should keep it simple. Leave it the way it is, just allow viewing of multiple regions. Charge more for a multi-region listing if you want, just make it possible. It's absurd to think in the universe EvE takes place in that they couldn't brodcast or access an ad across multiple regions.
And to everyone who wants all the extra check boxes, the idea of an ad is to get potential recruits into your recruiting channel so you can interview them, and they you. Haven't you ever read a want ad before?

Looks good.
A feature for the future; - Specify ability to fly specific ships classes (eg. Interceptor, Cov-Ops, Industrial, Transport, Freighter) - Specify skill points per category required - Specify specific skills required
That would make a really nice search. ie. Only corps for which I match skill reqs.

Tell me if I got this right. You can choose any region to adv in as long as you have an office there, you don't have to be in the region to make the add. You can look at an add from any region without being in said region.
What this means in practice is that every one is going to place their ads in one region (probably The Forge) and anyone looking for a corp will always look at the same region first.
Hope your DB solution is up for that task. ---------------------------------------- A Guide to Scan Probing in Revelations |

This is a nice first step.
How about an additional system where you can post your CV for recruiters to search for? It would have the same tick boxes as the advert system plus maybe an option to share the skill tree as well.

Just a light suggestion, instead of making this big tall ugly beast use the same UI you have with contracts, nice sleek multi step "wizard", leaves room for options & data entry.
In any case looks promising and will help with recruitment (one can hope) if you somehow advertise it to new players as well (currently lot of new players tend to skip the tutorials and thus miss on lot of data), so it should be visible enough somehow - a rolling advetisment in station could be one way to do it, it can even be static "have you checked out the recruitment?" slogan instead of 10001 recruitment ads
