Once a customs office is reinforced, can it continue to be used?
And as an aside: Customs office timers are completely stupid. They should work like POS timers. Having customs offices guaranteed to come out of reinforcement at around the same time no matter when it was reinforced is a pretty lame mechanic imho.

Well, the player-owned customs offices do. The interbus do not. |

No, I believe they are not usable once they get RF'd.
CCP went with the "choose the time it comes out" as an attempt at a "better" mechanic than the normal timers like with POS. Can't say that I'm for/against it either way. |

I think the thought with the old mechanics was that the aggressor indirectly got to chose the time that a POS came out of reinforcement, at least if they assumed the stront bay was full. As the defender, you could vary the stront level (possibly foiling the plans of some aggressors), but not really helping yourself all that much because you wouldn't know the time that aggressor may reinforce the tower.
The new mechanic allows you, the defender, to bring the POCO out of reinforced during your peak time no matter when the original assault occurred AND avoiding the PITA of having to deal with stront. IMO, it seems to give the POCO owner quite a bit more flexibility for defending.
As stated above, though, I don't really care one way or the other all that much. |

The point of the timer is to give the defender a chance to actually defend and so trigger a fight. The chances of that are better if the time is fixed.

I would actually like to get in a fight over the POCO. My issue is when you have a corp in one time zone fighting a corp in opposite time zone, this mechanic makes actually fighting over the POCO impossible. The POCO comes out of reinforcement at literally the worst possible time, making it impossible to ever even have a fight because our corp. is entirely offline.
As is, the timer ignores the global realities of Eve. I don't think the stront / POS mechanic is a solution, but merely having the timer vary by 3-4 hours will solve this problem. As it is now, they come out of reinforcement at 4-5 am (these particular ones) no matter when they are reinforced. This will never result in a fight. |

I personally think it's as balanced as it can get. POCOs are supposed to be accessible to small-medium corps. Those usually have tighter prime times than larger ones, so a 2 hour window is more reasonable for them. Especially since the attacker chooses the day of the attack, and thus the day it comes out. They can do it on a weekend to stretch their timezone a bit.

Consider the implications of a 4 hour variance, instead of the 1 hour we have now. You set your timer for say 9pm your time, it gets attacked in the middle of the week, and it comes out anywhere from 5pm (you are still at work) to 1am (you are in bed). It's much worse.
In your situation, you will never fight those guys, because they won't be online at a time when you are. It sucks, but there's no easy fix for it. So that small corps actually have a chance to defend it. |

Why don't you just recruit both main tz's if this is so outrageous for your corp?
Or why dont you just reinforce and see when their timer is set. Then make plans for the weekend. It really isnt that difficult. Plus theres a chance said corp/alliance wont even show to defend it, if it isnt profitable.
