OK, here's a question. I have 11 R&D agents atm. I worked up standing with 3 different R&D corps. Not once did I get a storyline with the corp I was raising standings with.
I am raising standings with a corp out of stations is 0.0. Every storyline mission I get is with that corp, and other corp stations are in the constellation.
So, how do I get storyline missions with an R&D corp?

you only get storyline missions from the corps you are working for. You have to do missions for the R&D corp, to get storyline missions from them. The 'I'm stuck' missions from the actual R&D agents don't work. You have to do normal missions for non-r&d agents in the r&d corp.

im 100% positive that the RD missions count toward a storyline
you are sent to the nearest storyline argent so you need to find an Rnd storrylineargent first then look at the surronding systems for normal argents or if he¦s the second nearest you run 16 missions you get the storyline and dont finish it , next one will be the second closest argent
hope that makews sense _______________________________________________ EVEpedia[Deutsch/German] add

Edited by: Gegi Wau on 22/11/2007 20:02:45 Actually, the missions you do for your R&D agents DO increase your storyline counter.
When you have done enough missions to earn a storyline mission (i.e., 16) you'll get a storyline mission offer from the nearest storyline agent from that corp OR faction. If you finish a mission and there's a storyline agent from the same corp in a nearby system or maybe even in the same station, you'll get the storyline mission from him. If, on the other hand, there's no storyline agent from this corp nearby, you'll get the storyline mission from the agent of another corp of the same faction. So, when you do a mission for a corp, you should make sure that a storyline agent from this corp is nearby, ideally in the same station.

Edited by: Artmedis Valben on 26/11/2007 04:31:59 And the storyline counter is 16 missions of each level for the same faction. So if you do 12 level 1 missions, 14 level 2 missions, 15 level 3 missions and 10 level 4 missions, you wont get a single storyline. But you are getting close in all levels.
Also haven't checked if you can use the level 5 agents for any R&D storylines or if there is a level 5 storyline counter.
If you keep an accurate count and have done your home work you can control which agent of which corp gives you storyline missions. Some R&D corps like Lai Dai dont have any storyline agents apart from the 3 in the Caldari Cosmos (but those are event agents, not storyline ones). Others like Carthum, Kaalakiota and Core Complex are very easy to do so that all your storylines are in corp.

Edited by: Alkayne on 26/11/2007 04:47:08 Don't mean to threadjack but my question seems applicable to this thread. Should I work my way up with 3 factions simultaneously or just mission for one corp (Lai Dai, etc.) until a certain then move on, keeping them all level.
P.S. How the heck do I get my portrait to show on the forums/EVEmon/ineve.net?!?!

as said before its hard todo it with 3 factions
there are 2 pairings Gallente- minmatar and Amarr + Caldiri
if you do Gal storyline missions your standing with minmatar will raise too and Caldiri/Amarr will drop
Amarr not so much so its possible to get that up but still a pain
you just need to watch it that it doesnt go under -2.0 with diplomatics then you are locked out
and the faces are stored on an different server wich pulls it from the game from time to time just wait a few days _______________________________________________ EVEpedia[Deutsch] Sign this to bring EvE TV back |

I wasn't talking about getting R & D missions from different factions, I was asking about focusing on one of the research corps within a faction or grinding all three at the same time.

Should I work my way up with 3 factions simultaneously
that quotet .. yes doin mission for specific corps works
but its still a pain because faction missions gives such a great boost and as said before it also gives standing to another faction
if its an research alt you can do it it will take some grind , if its your main i would get faction standing _______________________________________________ EVEpedia[Deutsch] Sign this to bring EvE TV back |

If you have a main character that can run level 4 kill missions for the R&D corps (admin agents give kill 50% of the time) you could gang up with the research alt and give him half of the standings gained from the missions, but you cannot share storylines.
And sharing couriers will only work if they end in systems your gang has had encounters in during the current session.

So rather then running missions for Lai Dai, etc. I should just run missions for general Caldari corps for overall faction gain?
This is all being done on my main, I'd like to (further down the road) get into inventing. Currently, I'm just maxing science skills so I can run R&D missions for datacores as a source of income/save for inventing.
Anyone have a general idea of how much less standing I will gain for a corporation if I run missions for the faction it belongs to?

no .. you run mission for the RnD corp after every 16 mission you get a storyline from the nearest storyline argent
ideally this is one from the same or another Calderi rnd corp

Edited by: Artmedis Valben on 26/11/2007 16:54:33 Its simple really.
Look through the agents you can do for each of the R&D corporations. Find systems which have many agents from Lai Dai, Ishukone and Kaalakiota (the last one is the main Caldari Mech Eng agent corp). Visit these systems and note down the names of all systems within 2-3 jumps. Find the closest Caldari storyline agent. If it is an agent of one of the R&D corps fantastic. Now make a list of all the agents you can do, and keep an accurate count of all missions you do on each level counting missions for every caldari corp including any missions you may do for R&D agents already hired.
This allows you to do the 16th mission of each level for an agent next to a Kaalakiota or Ishukone storyline agent. Storyline missions boost corp standings 3x as much as they do faction standing. The best ones give 25% increase from your current standings towards +10.0 standings. The quickest way to get storylines is to find a hub of manufacturing, production, marketing and distribution agents, and do couriers for many agents simultaneously in an industrial. I have managed to do 12 agents simultaneously. It is easy to have 2-3 storylines per day this way.
Alternatively go to the Cosmos sites once you have a faction standing of more than 2,0 which you can get by training connections and doing a few missions. The Caldari one is in the Forge around Friggi. This is more combat oriented way of quick standings, and is much more fun than grinding 5-8 courier agents. If you manage to finish the Cosmos site you will have access to any Caldari agent and a good basis of Amarr agents as well from derived modifications.
Once you have the Caldari standings, change to Amarr and do these as well, to give you access especially Carthum Conglam (the largest R&D corp in eve), You can get easily above 6 standing with Kaalakiota, Ishukone and Carthum in a couple of weeks of either courir grinding for storylines or doing the Caldari and Amarr cosmos sites.
If you have the faction standings high enough you need only 4,8 corp standing to access level 4 quality 16 agents.
