I'm afraid to say that so far, the performance of the new engine does not inspire.
Machine: Athlon XP 2500 1536Mb PC2700 DDR (Single channel) ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 2x 7200RPM 8Mb HDD (C: Windows + Pagefile, D: Games, both non fragmented) Windows XP SP2
Currently on Tranquillity I can expect framerates in station between 50-80, and in space between 40-80 which means running two clients at around 30-40 fps (multiple monitors). On Singularity, a single client is failing to break 40 fps in the station, and whilst I understand there are currently no art updates available I am unable to see any real difference between the "quality" of the rendering between the two, but as this clearly shows there is a visible difference between the performance of the two engines... and it doesn't seem to favour Trinity!
This said, I'll reserve judgement until the new art content is made available. What does have me slightly worried is the mention of "eve classic" though. Sounds to me like you intend to release your first paid for expansion or surely it would simply continue to be Eve as it has always been?

Nah, will be for free, like always and hopefully ever
Client seems to perform quite good so far, windowed mode on one screen, i got around 140fps with the cam real close to a gate / station with some npcs acround. IŠll try if out in a few FFA fights ofc since this is really important.

Set it in the drivers. Works better anyway.
how do you do that?
Right-click on your desktop and select the video card control panel. Select the 3D settings area and set Antialiasing to the desired level (I find that 4x looks good enough at 1920x1200).
Works identical for ATI and NVIDIA (I have both). Setting AA in-game always gave me worse frame-rates, don't know why. ...

Can't even undock. Could be the server with 200+ people on right now, could be something graphicky. Bug report filed. Have others seen this?
To wit:
>> Undocking in ----, from ---- station. I get all the way to "Entering Space - Ship Ready" and the end of the bar, and then see "Abort Undock" in the window and stay in station. I can reproduce this any number of times, so I don't believe it has something to do with the node loading. Might be the new engine?

Well my character is currently disabled on sisi and I have to wait for the next mirror :(.
Most likely I will have to wait until trinity is patched to see anything.

P4 2.8 with 1GB Ram Nvidia 6800 GS 24-bit 1280x1024
I used to to have 90%+ CPU usage running eve and 24 fps if I was lucky. With whats running on Sisi now i run eve at 60% CPU and over 40 fps.

Awesome, I'm getting between 3-7 average fps in space. In an empty system With not even rats near me
That's running a 7600 GS btw with 512MB ram, my CPU and RAM is a bit worse though, 3.03ghz P4HT, 1GB DDR333

Originally by: Jocca Quinn So does the new engine actually use the graphics card more if it uses the old content?
Some stuff was given an overhaul, but in general the engine running the old content and code is very similar to what was there before, to maintain content compatibility. There are new code paths for new content.
Wait, you mean the new engine runs everything through the CPU before, unless you have the new content which runs through the graphics card?
Kinda screws over the say 4-5 year old PC running a 9600 pro or something. They'll still get choppy fps cause it's forcing a 5 year old graphics engine through the CPU, when the gfx card will be able to handle the game in classic mode very easily.
Think it's a bit srewy that the classic EVE runs like a dog on my comp, but the SM3 content will run fine with the same graphics card.
Hope you guys take the time to code the engine to run through the gfx card, whether you're using the new contect or not

Lag on login is more likely due to the number of people on the test server rather than the client IMO, was on it earlier with 400 people, usually around 100.
Tnx, but more than 60 min by the loading character is already not lag :( And if i click on th window that i want to close, Vista tell me the program stopped working and try to find the bug.
And if i run both clients, SiSi and TQ, the TQ one need around 70MB memory as default, logged in, sitting in a station. By same logging my SiSi client needs 165MB. I dont see how that would have performance increase. Good that i have 2GB

Indeed Evil levels of stupidity itt.
New content comes later, the only thing we downloaded now is the client supporting dx80 cards. Not sure if it boosted my fps, my fps where always very changable from 90 till very high (260) at different scenes, and with this dx80 client its the same.
Only new problem i encountered was the minimize-problem, solved it with setting it in window-mode instead of fullscreen.
Am curious how the dx90 supporting client will be performing...

Even on my GF 5950 Ultra, which is pretty antique, i've got about 80-100% fps increase, both in station and in-space.
Stop whinning, people, prior going here and writing a post or two about 'wtf ccp you write a new crappy client' better upgrade your drivers. Most (if not every) crash issue is about bad audio/video/motherboard drivers.
Good job, CCP. Still waitin' for new graphics content
