No one can steal a Control Tower which is anchored but it can be blown up. -- eve-guides.com Includes all about POSs, outposts, tech II production, item database and much much more. |

This is how it is currently, however there have been dev posts mentioning a change in Trinity whereby anything not fixed down by an online control tower can be unanchored freely by anyone and stolen.
While this was mentioned in the context of "looting" a POS once you've blown up the control tower, I suspect it may also mean you can take the tower itself if it's run out of fuel and gone offline.
Would be best to test it on sisi if it's potentially an issue for you. ------- There is no magic Wand of Fixing, and it is not powered by forum whines. |

Right, you cannot steal it because it is anchored. But it is also very difficult to blow it away, because due to a bug the shields of all items remain at 100% even after beeing offline for weeks. I tried it myself with a Medium Railgun of an abandonned POS (without tower for month) and it took me 4 hours with a T2 fitted Abaddon to blow this damn railgun to dust. There is no benefit to make with this and it is increadible boring to shoot down an offline POS, so the risk of pirates doing so is very low. So at the current situation your POS is even pretty safe after beeing offline... Well except if you have rare moon minerals there. This can be scanned and if it is valueable then you problably find a mail informing you that a Merc Corp shot your POS down
