Picked up a Kodak all-in-one 5300 recently, for 199 Euros. Installed it, printed one picture, then got a "printhead" error. No workaround; phoned Kodak's service department in the morning. After several more calls, in the evening they could be bothered to write an e-mail on how I should change the firmware, which, of course, did not resolve the problem. I then set them a time in which to resolve the issue. They did not respond at all. Phoned, and was told to wait 72 hours. Wo0t?? Are they joking??
The printer is on its way back to the shop. Kodak Germany are complete and utterly useless muppets; they could not organise a ****-up in a brewery. Products that do not work and ****e service to boot. Excellent way to do business.

Edited by: Sister Impotentata on 23/11/2007 11:29:49 I'm surprised they even spent any time with you on it at all. For that price, the call should go like this:
"Driver installed? Plugged in? Connected? Ink? Paper? Still broke? Take it back. Call me if that one's broke."
90 minutes...
"New one's broke? Problem's with your machine then. Sorry can't help."
Edit: I picked up an HP DJ F4180 last month. Paid more for the USB cable than I did for the widget, US$. It prints things. ----- TANSTAAFL

They were excellent. When I first phoned, they told me not to update the firmware via the software that comes with the printer, but instead to wait for an e-mail with instructions.
In those instructions, it said at the top: "print these instructions before you proceed". Great. First stroke of genius. Then it went on to say that after the firmware update, the language should have changed to German. If it hadn't, I needed to set the language first to English, and subsequently to French, which would result in German language menu on the printer. Of course it would. Needless to say that the menu was not accessible, because the printer was not working. I reckon they were having a laugh. Tards.

If there is a print head error, what the f is a firmware update going to do?
For more enjoyment and greater efficiency, consumption is being standardized.

It did not do anything. So I phoned again. The told me to wait three days before they would get back to me. Took the printer back and got a refund. That was the last time I bought a Kodak product.

because of one faulty printer, and a non-****-giving customer services dept?

hey, I work there
(but you're right)
actually they arn't all that bad, just not the place to go if you're looking for any kind of value. USB cables go for as much as ú34.99. They have far better customer service than say, Overclockers - although I still order from them because I don't care about that, just how much it costs -----
