Hi,
I just tried to have a look at the new Trinity version on test server.
So I made the copy (used my wine 0.9.49 based version of Eve) and patched it. I created a shortcut to make it log into test server (http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=607009).
After patch install a message box appeared telling me I got the wrong version of DX3D (but I have 9c and it didn't tell me which version it wants).
Since then I can start, say yes to EULA (have to do that every time - it doesn't remeber) and that's it. Can't get beyond that.
Looks cool: Trinity Login screen
But hangs there (process is zombified). No input possible. Doesn't do anything.
Did anybody manage to get further than that?
The little shader 3 test app that went around a few weeks ago liked my graphic card: NVidia 7900 Go GS.
I used the wine version instead of the official client as the latter has several issues (no copy paste, no blue box, looses keyboard input after alt-tab and back) that I don't have on wine.

I tried running RedistD3DXOnly.exe from the test versions bin dir.
This is what happens:
Quote: bin/RedistD3DXOnly.exe fixme:actctx:parse_depend_manifests Could not find dependent assembly L"Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls" ALSA lib conf.c:3949:(snd_config_expand) Unknown parameters 0 ALSA lib pcm.c:2144:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM default:0 ALSA lib conf.c:3949:(snd_config_expand) Unknown parameters 0 ALSA lib pcm.c:2144:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM default:0 fixme:reg:GetNativeSystemInfo (0x33fb38) using GetSystemInfo() fixme:mscoree:GetCORVersion (0x33f730, 600, 0x33f71c): semi-stub! err:setupapi:do_file_copyW Unsupported style(s) 0x144

IIRC you need to compile Wine yourself, changing one constant from "false" to "true" to enable asynchronous I/O, and then it'll work. I'll be trying it tonight.

Yup, there is a bit flip needed in Wine that hasn't made it through testing yet. It has been needed for the last couple of Eve patches.
Compiling the sources is way easy though. The ./configure command names each package sources that is needed if you don't have them already. Build instructions - http://winehq.org/site/docs/wineusr-guide/installing-wine-source and Lastest release.
The only other tidbit from Elf is that Eve Trinity uses more of DX or something and needs the DX installer rerun. You can't just copy your old Eve install files.

Oops, the change needed to the Wine sources is:
Originally by: El***ER changing the dlls/kernel32/sync.c BindIOCompletionCallback return value to TRUE fixes the freeze/crash when the login screen appears
