The main issue with piracy at the moment is that there isnÆt enough profit to be made in piracy
Reasons are:- Invention (tech 2 got cheaper so loot from killing ships is less valuable)
- With the hitpoint boots and rigs ships tank a lot better so it is a lot harder to kill your target before backup arrives
- Warp to 0, this really did make a difference I used to get a lot of mission runners warping to stations at 15km etc
- Probing got changed to a ôluck basedö system getting mission runners in their mission is a lot harder now even with max probing skills
So there should be a new way of making money for pirates. Me and my corps m8s have been talking about this and we came up with the following idea:
There needs to be a specialized mode or ship that allows you to make someone eject from their ship once it is low in structure (letÆs say <= 50%) This will work like salvaging and of course it will take longer to force the pod to eject then it would to destroy the ship completely.

Edit: Also imagine stealing a titan from someone

I propose having it take three minutes to force the pilot to eject.

I imagine they'd still get their insurance money, seeing as how their property got taken away from them.

Mate/Alt 2 : O.K.
Mate/Alt 1 : (he ejects and gets insurance) Can I have my ship back mate 2
Mate/Alt 2 : Sure Bud
Mate/Alt 1 : wooohooo profit I could do this all day.
EDIT : I don't like it ships blowing up is good for the Economy

Sooo easy to exploit.
And because of that gap in insurance, it would be unfair. You could give them the insurance and promote exploiting, or you could not and promote self destructing, going right back to the reason the OP posted.

That, in my opinion, would be an unreasonable nerf to insurance.

run this by me again, pirates shoot unarmed civilians, salvage their cargo and loot or hold them to ransom but this isn't enough, you seem to want more.... greed is a poor substitute for intelligence.
try exploiting the options you have available more, rather than wishing someone would deliver you a billion ISK for standing guard at some gate. Ladies and gentlemen, we will shortly be experiencing some exploding followed by some crashing...so i'd hold on if i were you! |

well you see the point is even though we are pirates. and we shoot "unarmed civilians" their cargo no matter how much T2 stuff might be in the wreck does not guarantee that we can live off it. thus coming to the ever populair "gatecamps" and "24/7 station camps". give the pirates something to look forward too. we are not asking for allot but just something that makes pirating an viable option again for the mission bored people. i mean pvp is where its at in eve.

The insurance problem is easy to solve although we didnÆt consider that yet
Just be a little creative and it shouldnÆt be a problem, possible solution to this problem i just came up with:
The operation to force out the pod has a 20% success rate (so that is 1 out of 5) if the operation succeeds and forces the pod out insurance will not be paid out, if the operation fails the ship simply explodes

This is a horribly dumb idea. The pirate gets a free ship and the poor sucker is out the insurance and everything. Honestly, we're looking at a gang with heavy ewar that just ganks a ship and forces the pilot to eject with zero risk to the gang. No, stop posting ideas.

I hear that having a link to 0.0 and low sec is also profitable....
But being able to force people to eject from there ship unwillingly just seems too far. IF they do make such a module it should cost at LEAST around 600mill or 500mill, since we are of course making people unwillingly give up there ship
Seems like you are just not finding innovative ways to make profit from pirating?

The idea sounds very interesting imo On the insurance front would it maybe be an option to have a different form of insurance, like theft cover? This insurance could be more like a real insurance. In that it has premiums attached, and if your ship gets "stolen" a lot then first the price of the insurance goes up and eventually they may not want to insure you at all. That just my opinion on it.

Geez, we're a paramilitary corp, not even pirates, and we make tons of isk on our combat operations, simply blowing up thieves and pirates. I think the best suggestion for the OP is to look for another line of work, 'cause he clearly doesn't have what it takes to be a pirate. And don't ask the devs to ruin the game just because you can't cut it.

with all due respect to Tribs, thats kind of a carebear idea :P
I do often wish someone would just eject so I could have their ship, and its happened a couple times when someone totally freaks out and abandons their CNR.
Ransoms is definitely where the profit is at. Tradeoff being no killmail ofc.
