For ****s sake. ***** about this **** when it hits the REAL server, not the TEST server. It doesn't make a goddamn amound of sense to cry your little teary eyes out until they deliver us the final ******* product. I'm sure CCP appreciates all your little *****es and moans about all the work that obviously went into this ****.

Originally by: Ishina Fel All of the trailers are rendered at huge resolutions with *massive* post-processing. I would guess that we're talking things like several dozen passes of antialiasing, much bigger texture sizes, global illumination and triple precision HDR here. These trailers are not FRAPSed in real time, they are rendered frame by frame directly from the engine! This level of quality can likely not be rendered in real time!
No, that's untrue
The guy who makes all of CCP's trailers has a little modified game client, in which he can make ships fly in formation, do banked turns, whatever. He also has a stupidly high-powered PC and probably access to the DX10 version of the engine. They are likely frapsed at about 2000xwhatever, not huge sizes. And as it's a game engine, using the games models, the texture sizes are the same no matter what size you render it at, because they are set within the folder. Just because you render it smaller, doesn't mean the texture looses quality.
Quote: Further, once the video has been rendered, it is then taken to digital video processing tools and edited thoroughly. Things like the effect of the new skin blending over the old ship hull are done there, as well as further lighting and contrast corrections (I point thee at the Nyx), and who knows what else. Out comes a shiny trailer that makes lots of people need new pants.
It's likely filters passed over the top of the video during editing actually. It's really quite easy to do, and just to prove this thread moar wrong, I'm trying to re-create that now with what limited skill I have with it. The lighting is likely untouched, and the effect of the new skin blending over the old skin should be fairly easy.
I'd imagine it's done something like :
1. Create shot using aforementioned modified client for the video dude. Save shot. 2. Open shot with new version of client, record. 3. Open shot with old version of client, record. 4. Post production. ---

just check the aliasing on the trinity screenshot model then compare it to a sis model and you will clearely see that the trinity mothel is either drawn by hand, edited, renderd offline (1000 x aa) or its dx10 with state of the art grfx card (tough i dont know anythign bout dx10 so i mght be wrong).

Guys..
When your on Sisi and have downloaded the new textures, and you restart and actually use them - yes then Trinity doesn't look sooooooo ******* awesome, it looks great but not as in the videos out and about..
However hit ESC and enable the advanced graphics and turn up HDR and shadows - enable it, restart EVE and THEN watch the glory unfold. ;)

This fact needs to be made more available. If this fact is true, which a dev says it is, then that would pretty much explain all of the perforamnce problems plus some of the look and feel problems and... things look effing amazing for running on the wrong direct X version. I'm impressed, but release the dx 9 client already.

Did you read the link he posted? He's proved himself wrong by linking to that dev post that clearly states sisi is now DX9 with the premium trinity content. To make it easier for you ive posted the dev post below.

You're right, but this is old news, the new art content has now been released on Singularity for testing.

Edited by: Paulo Damarr on 28/11/2007 19:36:51 Its nothing new most game trailers look nothing like what people actually get to play, check out the HD Crysis trailers or the Bioshock trailers.
Developers not only use the very latest hardware, and when I say latest its probably stuff that was released that month, then factor in every game has hidden developer settings that buff graphics to the super quality we see.
So unless you have the knowledge to unlock these settings and have a $10,000 dollar machine STFU trinity looks great. |

Maybe their mysterious promo client actually has AA+HDR support! That would explain a lot. As it stands, right now you either get sharp edges & minimized jaggies or fantastic lighting effects. ------ Director, No Quarter "There is no problem that cannot be solved by the judicious application of violence." |

This.
Alot of the screenshots I've seen are without Bloom and AA turned on. We can't know how close things are unless we know if the person taking the screenshots had all the effects turned on or not.
Bloom and AA do not work together in Trinity, at least not yet (unless the release candidate is different from the one on SiSi).

Originally by: d026 comparing teh previe ferox with my sis ferox it seems that the trinity trailer ferox was offline rendered. quite a shame that ccp has to resort to tricks like this..
SIS vs Trailer Ferox
this was made with:
Shadows: Extreme Bloom: high 6 x AA 16 x HQ Anisotropic Filtering
probably some newer grfx cards can do better, but i doubt this will make such a difference. Imho Trinity Trailer was offline rendered..
WTS clue. Or glasses. Same model, same effects, different lighting setting, different HDR windowing.
Better luck next time. --- WTS: Forum Signatures, price negotiable. Evemail me!

Come on, a bit of bloom and aa are not going to transform the second picture into the first picture.
Bloom will do that.
Also, look at the color of the system -- remember, ambient lighting affects the colors reflected off the ships
This screenshot doesn't look like it has premium turned on, either
People get out there and turn EVERYTHING UP and take your own looks instead of looking at others' screenshots

"post-processing effects seem to be missing. "
Ding, you guessed it. Check out the Revelations II trailer, it's got better post processing too. This is because it's a trailer. An ad more or less. Showing the absolute optimal result of Trinity once it's all said and done. Therefore, "work in progress." --- lol.. I messed up.

Anyway, there is only one expansion and only one graphics engine. The new graphics engine has two different render paths, for the Classic Art Content and the new Premium Art Content. The Premium Art Content requires that your graphics card support DirectX 9 Shader Model 3.0.
All has now been released to Singularity. Enjoy!

Originally by: 1v1 I don't think i am the only one that has checked out the new models on SISI and been more than a little disappointed in comparision to the latest trailer + the released screenshots from CCP. For instance, a CCP released screenshot of the moros: CCP Moros Trinity screenshot Compare it to a recent moros pic from a player: Player made Moros Trinity screenshot
I hate to say it but you are comparing apples and oranges. The new Premium Art Content (DX9 SM3) in EVE Online: Trinity reflects its surroundings and the blue nebula and the station lights in those two screenshots are not comparable lighting scenarios.
With a good, high-end graphics card and by correctly placing the ship in an appropriate environment I know you can achieve divine gorgeousness. Go for it, it's all out on Singularity!
