Some do this method instead of a tax %. It all depends on the situation. Some may find paying out 10 mil isk per month better than a 10-15% tax rate.
Be warned, I did pull those numbers out of thin air. I'm a noob! If you catch me ingame, don't bother with a ransom, I ain't paying! I'm still learning the pvpies, plus, I'm a Jew. |

did you know there's several 0.0 regions where rats do not give any form of bounty, and thus do not generation any form of tax? in these situations, a monthly fee is enacted. Whether this is advantageous or disadvantageous depends on how much isk as an individual you generate a month. |

Did you know that you can set refinery tax in stations for the regions where there are no bounties, but a lot of alloys droping? You can also set fees for using your production lines, research labs, offices, and thus produce revenue needed to pay corporate/alliance bills, like sov.
If im not mistaken, it was an example with CVA, where they opened their stations for everyone in providence (one of the poorest nullsec region in eve), but took a small fee for for everything, including repairs. And in the end they generated more or the same profit than alliances in the much richer regions.
Just saying. For Love. For Peace. For Honor.

a corp tax tends to penalize active members over inactive ones and prefers miners, traders, scammers, industrialists, ... over ratters.
a flat fee may be more desirable in some circumstances. |

Yup...out of sheer greed...or because corp has taxes of its own to pay...of which in turn the alliance has taxes to pay...of which someone else pays paul to pay petere to pay james to buy off somenoe else who uses it to get an..... well you get the point. |

We used to have flat weekly dues for the longest time; however our tax was always 0%. I find the in-game tax to be very biased, as it only affects those who rat or run missions for income (and those who refine in your station if you happen to own one). Meanwhile traders, industrialists, PvPers, explorers, WH runners... contribute nothing.
The tax also means that people who play more also pay more, which is exactly opposite to what we want to encourage. With a flat fee, as long as you show a minimum degree of activity, you get to keep all the rest you make for yourself, no matter what do you fancy doing to make the ISK.
I had a new recruit ask me once whether we charged any regular fees in RL money. He said his previous guild in another game used to do that, to keep their forums/website/voice comms running. |

A flat tax is a little fairer than a %. With a % some people will pay billions over a long period whereas some who never rats or does everything though alts won't pay a penny.
What you need to question is what are you paying for. If you're paying a 25m in tax a month to a corp with no reimbursement scheme, no Sov, no upgraded systems...no general member benefits, you're just lining the pockets of the people who have corp wallet access. |
