Yup. I had this exact toy, and it's still in a box in Houston.
I have been trying to find a decent Su-27 model but it seems no one really cares about Eastern bloc aircraft. I have seen kits but I'm not nearly skilled enough to paint it correctly. Ohh Shiny |

I clearly remember getting a little bitty Lego that was maybe a 5 inch long Aeroflot jet of some sort in Berlin's KaDeWe when I was 10. I think it's in the same box as that Concorde. I always liked the unique tail mounted engine on the DC-10 and MD-11... but my favourite engine configuration for an aircraft is the Russian lyushin Il-62 (they are like a suped up version of the DC-9) check out the pictures I found online below

As far as I know, there is still a drop zone somewhere in the States that has a DC-10 (tail exit) for major jumps.
Also, not sure why but I always had a little soft spot in the back of my heart for this ugly duckling:

A-10s are great at what they were designed for, anti-tank.

Il-62 is basically a copy of the British Vickers VC-10 which is also a rear engine quad jet.

The brass in the pentagon have stated in the past that they only want multi-role fighters which the A-10 is not. I suspect huge defense contractors such as Lockheed and Boeing have some something to do with it.
And yes the A-10 is the most effective and cheapest to operate close air support aircraft the USA has and its a shame they are retiring it, especially after they just got upgraded to the A-10C a few years ago.

Huh...never knew such a jet existed, but I should have known most Russian airliners are copys of "western" ones. Just like the Tupolev Tu-154 is a copy of the Boeing-727. All tho I do think the Tu-154 looks cooler due in part to the large "spike" on the top of its vertical stabilizer. |
