OK, so I had to go to the doctor this AM.
I started itching about a month ago for no apparent reason. It seemed to be a case of dry skin or something coming on with winter, but about 2 weeks ago a few red marks would appear where the itching was finally.
During the past 2 weeks it started spreading, and as of yesterday it was really bad, and everywhere. So, I went to a walk-in 24 clinic thing, and got examined.
Scabies. Yes, scabies.
What's freakin' weird is I have not "been with" anybody in well over 2 years (that last relationship really cooked it), so I definitely did not get these through sexual contact.
Living here only temporarily, I just have not gotten around much either. I have no car (didn't need one in SF for 17 years), I have no house guests, I walk back and forth to KMart and the grocery store. I can count on one hand how many times I've had to take the bus to get to my bank. That's seriously it.
So, the doctor was also a bit puzzled about how I could have contracted them, then it hit me.
Our public transportation buses here have cloth fabric seats. Yes, cloth seats for the poor and homeless, etc. Almost every state, California included, mandate hard surface plastic seats for public transport. Period.
The best part: my doctor and I are in the middle of discussing this, when a freakin' bedbug crawls down my pant leg !!!!!
We were both stunned. (They are not in my house...at all). I picked that sucker up on the bus on the way to the doctor !
I have got to get out of this hideous state of Florida, and my March 1st self-imposed deadline cannot come soon enough.

cool, i did that for some years. spent a few at Nellis, though half the time I was deployed. true story, though, I was stationed in Vegas of all places, from the age of 21 to 24.
and I can relate to being broke as a young, newly independent adult. I kept hitting overdraft charges because I lacked the discipline or experience to balance my bank account. only lasted a few months, though. then i realized that until I've got some time in, I won't have much spending money. debit cards also became instant-debit around that time, so I had no choice but to stop my spending.

Yeah being broke sucks.
Going through a difficult time right now myself. Hoping next year will be better as the last year and a half has been horrible.

haha, sounds about right. I'm quite a bit better in the Mi-8 Hip though, its quite a bit heavier and has stabilization systems. But even with that turned off I still think its way easier to fly.
Also I think half my problem is I try to fly them like fixed wing when engaging with rockets and guns. I have spent way too much time in the A-10 and the Su-25 Frogfoot People, who talk, don't know. People, who know, don't talk. |

For some reason this reminded me of the first time I went skydiving. One of the instructors was trying to keep everyone loose so he was telling jokes. This was my favorite:
"People always ask skydivers 'why would you jump out of a perfectly good airplane?!?'. To which I respond 'who said anything about a perfectly good airplane?'"

lol. One of the army recruiters I dealt with had been a tanker. The one bit of advice he gave me was:
"Alright, they're going to teach you to use an anti-tank rocket. Heres the thing... never shoot it at a tank. Even if you kill the tank, you have also left a smoke trail to your position for his 15 angry friends to follow, because tanks always travel in packs."
