Yeah...Avatar and Gravity have been about it the last 10 years.......I'd throw 2009's Star Trek in there too imho. Cloud Atlas. The Tree of Life for it's encompassing of the cosmos itself into the story, but it's hardly an action flick.

CNN has finally hit headline rock bottom. The top story column actually has a story called simply "This is pretty f**cking awesome" and it links to a video.
Yes. CNN.
I'm just not gonna click that, in principle.

Oh God this is all so true. When people find out you are from San Francisco, the questions start flowing.
Just a few from a humorous article:
"Do you know a bunch of hippies?" -- Yes. They all vote Republican now.
"How can you afford to live there?" -- Pretty simple. We can't. But we do it anyway.
"Aren't you afraid of earthquakes?" -- Somewhat, but two hit on the East Coast just last week.
"Don't you miss having real seasons?" -- Real seasons? The kind that involve 200% humidity and sleet-snow and gale-force winds? No, we don't miss "real seasons."
"Do you see gay people every day?" -- You may have to break it to Auntie Ruth that you even work with a gay person or two. You can't swing a bat out your door without hitting at least a bisexual.
"Do you know someone who works at Google/Twitter/Facebook?" -- We see them but ignore them. We hang out with those working for ILM though.
"Do you know where to get the best weed?" -- Yes. In fact they advertise. We are beyond the "yeah, I know a dude....."
"Do you ride a cable car to work?" -- Ah, if only our lives were that whimsical. And not for $5 one way.
"Have you been to Alcatraz?" -- You'll be shocked by how many haven't. (I didn't in 17 years. Too many tourists, reservations months in advance, blah blah blah......-- Krix)
"DonGÇÖt you hate that song that says 'Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair?'" -- yeah, but even it's better than "We Built This City". "He has mounted his hind-legs, and blown crass vapidities through the bowel of his neck."-á - Ambrose Bierce on Oscar Wilde's Lecture in San Francisco 1882 |
