'Ello everybody i have a little Question:
''What is the most profitable ore in high sec in your view?''
Personally i mine PyroXeres as it earns me a good 2-3mil per 14,179.3M3 But im thinking about branching to other ore's as i remove the systems Pyro in a few hours and end up having nothing to mine other than scordite and veldyspar, what views does everyone have towards high-sec mining and etc? :) Are we losing our title as Demi-God? what if their will be an upgrade? such as a D.E.M.I-GOD V1.2?-á -Scourged through the years .. depends on the day, how I feel, and whether I need specific minerals in quantities that are easily obtainable. |

It depends on your skills and setup though. Most profitable ore is great but if you have horrible refining skills, you don't want to mine it.
Download EVE IPH in my sig and use the Mining tab to find out what will net you the most isk per hour for the setup and skills you have. Maximze your Industry Potential! - Get EVE Isk per Hour! |

Personally I usually strip mine as the lost productivity from cherry picking is not made up for by the difference in price. I do usually hit the high value ores first with my best miner, which is usually pyrox in the systems I mine in. many miners believe Omber is best as it has the highest value per unit but it is actually one of the lowest valued ores per m3. since mining lasers and strip miners mine XXX m3 per cycle that would make omber one of the lowest isk/hour ores. |

If you have required refining skills, (Refining 5, Refinery Efficiency 5, etc...) then Pyroxeres is your best bet in high sec. |

Pyrox has been the #1 High Sec Ore since October of 2010 when the production requirements for the Noctis were made public....needs a LOT of Nocxium.
since then Kernite and Plagioclase have been bouncing between #2 and #3....mostly Kernite at #2. Veldspar has held at #4. Omber has held LAST for months now....about 1/2 value of Pyrox.
The Jaspet/Hemorphite/Hedbergite found in High Sec Exploration are not really worth much more than Pyrox ATM, as Zydrine has plummetted continuously for months. And doubly not worth it as usually in those sites one 'chases rocks' most of the time. That time eats into money like a starving dog.
And to think when I started playing February 2010, Omber was #1 and Plagioclase a solid #2........ OMG He Spent His Free-áAURUM ! God is simply-áthe very extraordinary power of the Universe to organize Itself as percieved. -á-á- Lee Smolin "Three Roads to Quantum Gravity" |

Rich Plagioclase as an actual ore that's in my actual area. Pyroxeres isn't far away.
Most profitably, I mine rats, by way of L4 mission. Bounties and then minerals and salvage on the top! |

Pyroxeres is the best to mine if you have it in your home area or can travel to the deposits.
Failing that some simple maths will tell you that Veldspar brings in more isk than the remaining commonly found high sec ore and also the ice used to power Minmatar Control Towers. I haven't done the math regarding blue ice but with the Goons recent actions who would want to mine that ice.
Scordite,Plagioclase, and Omber come in after Veldspar. Kernite is very heavy so other than for geographical reasons don't bother with that ore. |

I agree 100%
yet I know a lot of miners that still cherry pick Omber.
Like I said I mostly strip mine. most high sec ores are worth around 4 mill isk per jetcan except Omber which is only around 2 mil. No Omber where I mine and striping entire belts is a lot faster than cherry picking the Pyrox from several different belts. at least when running 4 accounts it is.
P.S. good time to sell trit. at 4.6 right now according to Cerlestes |

from my experience it correlates to your skill and ship, i fly the retriever right now and with 2 strip miners with tech 1 crystals i can bring in about 3,000 m3 per strip with pyro , and 11,000 m3 with veldspar the veldspar is .1 m3 a unit so if you are moving it fast ive heard its good to go with that, pyro sells for more but a unit weighs more than veldspar. However, even though the strip brings more in with veldspar the timer is the same i beleive so in the same amount of time i can fill a bestower i make more per load with pyro. a load that takes me maybe a little over 40- 50 min depending on my attention can bring a decent price a day. |

Mining Lasers (Strippers included) pull in a fixed amount of ore (measured in m3) per [time].
Each Ore has a different volume per unit. To compensate for this, smart people have found that it helps to get your calculators set with isk/m3, so it becomes easy to ignore whatever chaff the varying volumes throws into your mental processes.
So use a calculator, or do the calculation yourself, either way, so long as you divide the UnitISK by the UnitVolume, you'll do fine.
Your skills and ships are irrelevant to deciding which ore to mine. Single-Shard, Player Driven Sandbox.

It's really not too difficult to calculate this kind of stuff, OP. Total worth of component minerals, divided by refinery batch size to get value of one chunk of ore, then divided by ore size to get value per cubic meter, for easy conversion into profits based on cargohold and jetcan size.
Tritanium: 4.30 ISK Pyerite: 4.99 ISK Mexallon: 54.10 ISK Isogen: 67.02 ISK Nocxium: 478.08 ISK
1-dose Viscous Pyroxeres (10%) yield:
928 Tritanium 65 Pyerite 132 Mexallon 12 Nocxium
1-dose Rich Plagioclase (10%) yield:
282 Tritanium 563 Pyerite 282 Mexallon
1-dose Fiery Kernite (10%) yield
425 Tritanium 850 Mexallon 425 Isogen
Value of one cubic meter of Viscous Pyroxeres:
(((928* 4.30) + (65* 4.99) + (132* 54.10) + (12* 478.08)) / 333)/.30) = 172.10 ISK/m3
Value of one cubic meter of Rich Plagioclase:
(((282* 4.30) + (563* 4.99) + (282* 54.10))/333)/.35) = 165.41 ISK/m3
Value of one cubic meter of Fiery Kernite:
(((425* 4.30) + (850* 54.10) + (425* 67.02))/400)/1.2) = 158.95 ISK/m3
Sources: http://eve-central.com/ for mineral values http://www.eve-wiki.net/index.php?title=Main_Page for refining yields
Edit: basically Ruby's post, which I didn't see, with added math. |
