I picked up some of these and as they were for 0.0 space around Venal region I have placed them on Escrow. I'm guessing that I would not be welcome to just jump in and do them myself, as a player welcoming committee would probably be hotter than the NPC committee.
As I don't know the possible worth of completing them, they are on the market for 5K isk. So someone in Venal could consider it as a lottery ticket.
Would like to know how they go.

The problem is that the last time I checked you could go to the escrow item and if you perform show info it will let you read the log, so unless the log itself is required to cause a spawn or items to appear putting it up in escrow negates the worth entirely.

Edited by: Rancid Mare on 09/03/2004 13:36:58 the whole ship log thing is buggered.
word is that eveDB has ALL of them listed for public veiwing. so no need to collect them in loot. no need to travel out there.... no need to pay any attention to them at all.

Yep, I got another log and visited the site. Without the log being used to initiate a scenario they only identify spawn sites. Other than that they are only useful for recycling.
Very lame atm.

Ah, but at least it is a start, and gives a system upon which to build. They have now proved that it is possible to have logs dropped by third parties, with information, which are presumably auto-generated on the fly. Fine people are not happy that they go to identical locations all the time, but it at least piqued some interest; hopefully constructive feedback on the system will see it tweaked into something people are happier with, for example maybe by having some of the logs give you the locations of convoys or staging forces.
It could be argued that it is better to start small and build up with these things; imagine the screams if they had generated on the fly POI spawns, and people had found ways to chain them, and then the facility was removed ;)

thing is, the information is not autogenerated. its static. theres 11 logs for each pirate faction, and they each have a certain chance to drop.
ive investigated about 3 guristas log sites, and all 3 were exactly the same, even though the scenario described on the logs is very different.
