Ok ... so ... the latest update hosed my "normal" cedega install
no problems i thought at the time, let's try and see how the supported linux client performs.
I proceed with erasing ALL my cedega files to get a fresh start. Download the client so far so good. install the package try to run "cedega_start"
and BAM: Please set CEDEGA_UPDATER_PATH to the directory containing your CVS checkout of the installer/updater.
What am i supposed at this point?

try running "/home/username/.cedega/.updater/cedegaUpdateChecker -GAME EveOnline-linux" instead of launching it through cedega.

Edited by: farfrael on 06/12/2007 19:34:18 Edited by: farfrael on 06/12/2007 19:33:59 Thanks for the quick answer
i no longer have a "/home/username/.cedega/.updater/cedegaUpdateChecker -GAME EveOnline-linux" folder as i COMPLETELY cleaned my system of cedega
having played around and changed CEDEGA_UPDATER_PATH to the folder where the archive has been unpacked I now get:
Looking for log.ini file. No CEDEGA_PATH; trying CEDEGA_UPDATER_PATH. then a window pops up with Your installation seems to be corrupt. Please have your administrator purge the package and reinstall and the installer dies
confirm the problem is now with "cedega_installer.py"
this is while running the installer as root (i want multiple clients)
really don't see how the install can be corrupt, it's just been downloaded
Thank you so much for nothing CCP with your #### of ### linux client give me back the old normal cedega anyday

ok, problem is in misc_updater_utils.py
if not current_buildnumber and not orig_package_buildnumber: # what, neither? log.logger.info("Couldn't figure out the current or the original package buildnumber.") error_dlg = gtk.MessageDialog(None, 0, gtk.MESSAGE_ERROR, gtk.BUTTONS_OK, "Your installation seems to be corrupt. Please have your administrator purge the package and reinstall.") # FIXME i18n error_dlg.run() error_dlg.destroy() return None
looks like some ****** messed up the detection routine

the Slack/gentoo package on your website is broken
the test based on the get_component_buildnumber() function is broken in the case of a new install (it cannot find jack**** on a CLEAN system but doesn't handle the case)
