I have the very same problem here, and i'm very very disapointed about CCP customer support. Why? Because i have an opened petition and i have no answer, we have no support at all. This is only service that i know where you can't reach the service provider, or, when you try to contact someone you need to wait more than 48hours for an answer. I know CCP is trying to make EvE better, but, please, Fix your customer support first, it's the worst customer support in the world. I'm not begging, i pay for the service, i want at least one answer, one contact, but no word at all is very disapointing.
Dakkor, i'm able to start eve and play it with the new content, but in some minute (10minutes top) i receive exefile.exe is closing screen, that's happening all the time, using ccp classic it works ok, i think we have the same problem. My config from dxdiag:

Add me to this list as well. There is always one spot when my eve client crashes and thats when I arrive at a gate. It only happens when I arrive at a gate, and of course it's random so I've no clue when it will happen.
But, when I do crash, it's always at a gate.
Similar setup as listed above:

Edited by: Black Projects on 10/12/2007 00:54:49 Edited by: Black Projects on 10/12/2007 00:53:25 Have you tried running in compatibility mode? (right click on shortcut, compatibility tab, try XP SP2)? Also try some of the other options, particularly disable desktop composition (I wasn't having a crash problem, but the client ran very slowly in window mode w/ Aero on). Try disabling DEP (or adding exefile to DEP) under control panel / system / system protection / Data execution prevention.
Also go into your eve settings directory (now yourname/appdata/local/ccp/eve/settings) and (after making a backup copy elsewhere) delete everything.
Do a windows update.
Uninstall your video drivers, reboot. Run the driver cleaner from guru3d.com, reboot. Download latest drivers, install, reboot.
Clean boot your computer (Start, type msconfig, click diagnostic startup).
Uninstall EVE, make sure the entire CCP directory is gone, then reinstall the full package from the website.

I have the same grafics card and the same problem, eve crashes right after the splash screen and i get the same message . I have tried all the sugested methods (from this thread and all the Kown Issues and Workarounds) to resolve the problem. EvE clamis my pc can handle the premium update. Also had a petition up since patch day and still waiting on a reply(apart from the mass reply).

I had the same problem, disabling all sound options helped for me. Eve now runs without a problem ... and I anyways don't need the sound.

Same problem here. Installed the premium update, uninstalled eve, downloaded the premium installer, same problem. Started Eve in safe-mode, disabled the premium content and now I can play again. Never saw the new graphics and I'm still in my trial period.. Ignorance is bliss.

But I'm running XP SP2.

Just started to have this issue (Vista 32-bits).
When I close the game or log off, I get: "CCP ExeFile has stopped working." Doesn't bother gameplay for me (yet).
I have Premium graphics content turned off.
This started happening after I tried setting autopilot while viewing the map (looks like a bad idea, view froze even while I was warping from place to place, and I ended up not being able to close the map to reset the view).
I wager that's an issue with disk write permissions, which can be a problem on Vista...

As you can see I have a setup similiar to many others in this thread. I have not tried classic graphics, but when I am undocked the client crashes very often, giving me the Exefile.exe has stopped working.
*UPDATE* I tried raising my GPU fan speed to 100% using RivaTuner, and I have not had any crashes for about an hour. This doesn't mean the issue is solved ofc, but previously the crashes would occur every other minute.
*UPDATE 2* Crash info. I have not bothered submitting a report to CCP about this info though, tbh I don't want to go through the hassle. Heres a dump (in swedish) of the crash info stored by windows.

Add another to the list. Was working fine until most recent patch.
Brand new Dell XPS M1430 laptop, updated all drivers etc etc all the usual stuff Vista Home Premium nVidia 8600
Any chance of even a simple "We're working on this issue and will get back to you" or should I be considering giving my money to Blizzard now?

Add another to the list.
Toshiba Satellite, 4 gig memory, dual core intel, blah blah blah.
Program works. When I log off I get the error. Does not seem to have an impact on game play. Does play hell with my "reliability rating" in vista premium...heh.

Same issue here. Premium usually crashes after about an hour. Sometimes crashes 10-15 seconds after I log in, sometimes after 10-15 minutes. Never ran longer than 2 hours tho. Classic runs decent, 1 crash / day or so.

I don't know if this is the same but with vista on either client I get a "Not Responding" even when task manager says nothing is being held up. Have reinstalled vista 2 because Gateway told me too. Now since I still have the problem they just say its eve's fault.

Everyone that's having problems: Are you running full screen or windowed? In Vista I get constant crashes using the premium client in windowed mode but it runs like a dream and totally stable when full screened. The classic client works both full screened and windowed.

I HAVE A FIX!!!
This started happening to me a few days ago. worked fine before. Anyway, i have a symilar set up to you guys... the fix is this Load eve in safe mode (its in ur eve file dir) eve now boots in classic client. Go to the graphic settings... Turn down SHADOW QUALITY. I had mine set on extreem, and turned it down to normal.. it will tell you eve needs to restart before change will take effect. so ok, close it down. Now boot EVE as normal, and you should be back in pretty eve.
Hope this works for you, it worked for me :) |
