Ok so heres my dilemna. I have a decent skill lineup (mostly focused in spaceship command, science, and industry ~21mil SP), a freighter, and around 3bil ISK saved up. I want to start making some decent per-day income with the least amount of effort.
Is there a fairly easy way to use my money to make more money that won't take hours and hours of work to "get into"? (Ie: learning what to buy/sell in a region can take a long time and no one is going to give up their secrets on what is the best in an area). I was just hoping there was a pretty "sure" way to say take 2billion of my ISK and use it to make 5% profit per day as passively as possible.
I can train for new skills if it would help in certain areas. Most of my industry is focused on mining/refining which is how I've made most of my money so far, but its slow and boring.
Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated (even if its not an exact "heres how to do it" message, pointing me in the right direction would certainly be helpful).

Simple one - place ore/mineral buy orders in a busy mining system without a very active market, move to trading hub and sell.
TBH you're not going to get any innovative ideas here. People have spent months/years of play to learn their "tricks", why would they share them on a public forum?

Invest it in someone you trust. I'm pretty sure EMFI shares pay out 7% monthly or some such.
If you want a hands off approach, invest it in someone.
If you want more than something to the tune of 7-15% a month (all depends on which pie you can get into) you're going to have to do it yourself. No one is going to turn over 2bil daily for you and grow you profits, not even if we get to keep everything above 5%. (Well that's a lie, I would, and other people would as well, but we bother to make 30%+ a day)

Spoken like a real goon :)
To the OP, in order to be successfull you must understand the market. For that think of something to try, then try it and learn. Once you understand better how things works, you can figure out your own ways.
Of course this will take some of your time, if you want a timeless investment look into reputable IPO for effortless monthly low profits.

Supply will always outstrip demand on almost everything on a weekday, lowering prices, and the opposite is true on a Saturday or Sunday.
Pick a popular ship or item in your region -- just use the market data tab -- buy a bunch of them on Wednesday or Thursday and put them back up at a higher price. If they've all sold off at the higher price by next Wednesday or Thursday, do it again. Otherwise adjust your price using the market data tab.
It usually works pretty well, who knows, you might get burned. As much as you may love me, your signature must pertain to your in-game persona, and thus I must remove it. -Conuion Meow |

As David H'Levi said, buy for cheap and sell for more. You don't need some deep understanding of the market to make some ISK on it. Its almost fool-proof - the only way to lose ISK is someone undercuts all the sellers so much that you're no longer making a profit. This is reasonably rare, and is often not sustained (unless the cost to obtain an item actually has dropped and everyone else can match it - and so can you - with newer goods being sold for profit).
The hard part is getting sufficient volume of goods moved. With people continually manufacturing goods, and 0.01 ISK'ing buy orders, you have a fair bit of competition for getting goods at a profitable cost. Then you'll only get a portion of the sales for any goods in a region because people are undercutting quite regularly. Making ISK is easy. Making good margins, and pushing large volumes on goods is harder.
So, depending on how little time you want to spend on it, playing the markets may not be the easiest use of your ISK. As someone else said, perhaps buying shares somewhere or letting someone else play with your money is best... but therein lies the potential to be scammed out of it.
Hexxx once posted the key to making ISK on the markets - diversify! Unfortunately, diversification once more comes back to that ol' time-spent-on-the-market chestnut.

train up your pvp skills and put up low sell orders and high buy orders all over a not so frequently pirates system
then camp it with your buddies and make sure to use a heavy interdictor since it can jam 100% of the time and a hauler will not kill it Trashed sig, Shark was here |

For 0.01 ISK bid raiser *******s just put a smaller amount buy order that's way overprice. Often you get lucky and the sucker goes up with you. Cash in time. When it comes to placing buy orders don't make them ridiculously low. For every moron who sells X at 1% value you will miss 10 that would sell it at 50%. Just be reasonable and money follows.

Here is the key. I've always said diversify, but I never spelled it out. I'm feeling generous tonight and since I don't trade for an income anymore I'll share some of my "wisdom".
1) Diversify (items) 2) Diversify (locations you buy/sell) 3) Diversify (the orders you place)
So really...just diversify.
