Wow, if you guys could develop a premium gfx client (or hell, even classic is fine) for consoles like 360 and get it compatible with the US 360s, I would love you even more.
Currently I only have access to an eve-capable computer every other week. My laptop at the other location is Ubuntu with an ATI graphics card. But when I'm stuck with my laptop, I also have access to a 360 + xbox live gold!
Comeon, this would bring so many more paying customers (like me) to the game and expand your fanbase! And I would even be willing to pay for a disk! Imagine the possibilities!
(Yeah, this has probably been suggested before, but due to the lack of a forum search feature [convert to phpbb], I was unable to tell.)
PLEASE! *begs on knees*

I'd love this aswell actually. An eve online client for my 360 would actualy get me to pay for a gold account. Will need to get a mouse and keyboard for it though but i'd be willing to get that aswell (perhaps a ccp 3rd party eve online accesory for the 360? ) From a marketing point of view it has alot of potential , but on the programming side of it it will prolly be very hard to do so , but i'm not a programmer so it's just a guess.

Edited by: culmor30 on 12/12/2007 03:54:42 Edited by: culmor30 on 12/12/2007 03:45:18 Well, 360s are pretty much just windows PCs dressed up to look like consoles with fancy graphics cards and the like, so adaptation wouldn't be TOO hard, assuming EVE is C/C++ based. A straight port really.
I'd do it for money... actually, no, I wouldn't, never programmed for 360 before, only PC. But how hard can it be? Or even better, just hire people to do it.
EDIT: Oh and btw, xbox live SILVER accounts (the free ones) allow you to play MMO games online without having to pay for gold. Like final fantasy XI, my friend plays that all the time but has a silver account.
But I'm keeping my gold account anyway, doesn't matter to me.
EDIT: Ooh, and also, think of the xbox headset + eve voice compatibilities...

Edited by: Tawrich Tistrya on 12/12/2007 04:05:42 didn't know that bout mmo on silver accounts , thx for the info there.
The headset idea i hadn't even thought of yet , nice one.
Another thing comes to mind aswell : achievements ? some interesting options here aswell for those that want rewards for playing and not just sp for paying ( dont want an sp boost in any way though from this but thats another matter)
Playing it of a disk with the constant updates might be a pain though , so perhaps it should copy itself to the 360 HD for that ( or make it a free download on marketplace etc etc)
This has some interesting possibilies indeed.
oh and offcourse :

This idea gets brought up all the time.
I'd deactivate all my accounts the day it happens, and I wouldn't be the only one.
Horrible idea. No.

Edited by: sg3s on 12/12/2007 08:41:44 hahahaha, port it to the ps3, oh wait that wouldn't be a simple port eh?
But seriously there are a lot of advantages on the ps3 compared to 360.... like you don't frigging pay to get online, you can run linux on it too..... wait... lol like eve might already work on a ps3 right now... :D
A port to the ps3 is like re-coding the game to work with the resources that the machine has, but it's worth it in the end the quality is great... but you probably wouldn't make alot of money doing it, thats the downside and thats why all corperate **** are going for 360.

@Elenath
Why would you stop playing the game if it becomes avail on more then pc ? They are already broadening with the addition of the mac and linux client. Would having more ppl in the game stop you from enjoying it ?

Yeah, really, what's bad about more players? More players = more income for CCP = more addons/expansions etc...

If eve had been around ten years ago and they'd broadened to the mac community then, I'd probably have been quite scared. As it stands, there's only good can come from bringing this game to the unix & linux community.
Consoles are a different kettle of fish entirely. Whilst I wouldn't dream of saying I'd quit if there was a console adaption of Eve, I do worry about the nature of console gaming in regards to eve: One is pickup and play, the other really isn't.
Quote: adaptation wouldn't be TOO hard, assuming EVE is C/C++ based. A straight port really.
The client is written in perl & some of the code has been compiled as C. It would require that the client be set in stone in C for a console version to become available. With modern consoles sporting hard drives (and really just being PCs with nice graphics cards and no monitor) this becomes less of an issue, but I still think that Eve would make a horrible console game.

LOL yes... but no, I wouldn't care.
I mean, the only thing I can think of besides conversion that would cause a problem is the control scheme... but if Halo Wars (strategy game) can be played, I'm sure we can figure something out.
Example (360):
D-Pad - Scroll though overview Left stick - (some kind of cursor with adjustable speed?) Right Stick - spin the camera A Button - Target selected item B button - expand and enable menu on left X button - open chat window (or begin typing) Y button - Join voice channel
Then the right and left triggers could be set to enable/disable certain modules? And then the rest of the stuff could be done with a cursor or the Right/Left buttons (above the trigs).
Of course, that's just an example, but I'm sure if it is ever adapted something better will be thought of.

I'd be enthusiastic about a 360 game that's set in the EvE universe, maybe a fun Live Arcade shooter where you fly the fighter of your choice (Dragonfly ftw, naturally) and go zipping about in various delightful scenarios. Eight guys in fighters versus an AI Hurricane, dodging artillery fire and autocannons and duking it out with drones... Could be sweet.
But no, no console version of EvE that puts that population into our community. I'm not saying I don't pay Halo 3, but seriously, no.

Actually, getting into bed with Microsoft in even a superficial way is a recipe for disaster.
