As topic says.
I too would like to have a faction control tower that costs 4-5 times as much as a normal tower, not 10-15 times as much.
Those blueprints used to be some "payday" drops like certain modules, high grade implants or pirate battleship BPCs.
Faction control tower blueprints haven't dropped in 2 or 3 years now, what ever happened to them? I haven't ever seen an answer on this. |

But thanks for replying without any sort of a clue. |

The issue is that the blueprints are built with minerals rather than PI stuff, so they (IIRC) stopped dropping with Tyrannis.
2 years sounds about right actually. And CCP has made no mention of any possibility of putting them back in which, over the summer, lead to speculation that that would be one of the Aurum buys. Single-Shard, Player Driven Sandbox.

Oh and just to think I sold my faction tower for only 900 mil........ Ahhh, got to learn to safe up goodies.
You have to cut the ops team some slack, trolling the player base with made up downtime estimates is the only fun they get around here.-á(CCP Nullarbor) |

Considering they weren't going to factor in fuel saving costs for faction towers originally for the new fuel block system, I'd say CCP are pretending like they never added them to the game. |

There was a massive thread over this issue like last summer. CCP stated how the faction towers would be used all the time in hi sec without ever being in danger of being blown up. CCP said they only like faction towers in the game if they are gonna be in danger more often or blown up time to time.
Sorry dont have a link to that thread. Threads like this generally result in anything positive.

Sorry dont have a link to that thread. well, in this case.. chances are high that we might get them back with the summer expansion. With luck, they'll both add them to an LP store for the pirate factions plus add the BPCs as very rare drops (maybe exploration sites) from other sources.
Spread the wealth around a bit, don't just lock them up behind a single source. |

So long as they're once again available, whatever. But LP store will absolutely crash the price on them, which means more of them used, which means each POS will be more likely to take Half again as long as normal to take down.
On the other hand, I wanna faction tower, so ultimately it's probably a wash if CCP goes expensive price point (drops) or cheap (LP). Single-Shard, Player Driven Sandbox.

Sounds like it pretty much means faction control towers are going the way of T2 BPOs
Cause unless they make them unable to anchor in highsec or nerf them into oblivion it is doubtful they are going to re-enable the drops. |

And yet medium tower BPC's are still being added to contracts for the same 450 mill they went for 2 years ago.
The towers can be found on contract for under cost of a standard add the minerals to make one.
The point being, they really aren't needed. Nobody is using them. |

Well, if the LP store requires pirate faction, plus 100M ISK, plus 100k LP for a medium tower BPC, that would put them in the same ballpark where they are today. Which would be a big ISK sink in addition to being another big LP sink. Or CCP could make that value even higher.
My hope is that they would set the values such that the tower BPCs from an LP store would work out to be about 1000-1500 ISK/LP. Or whatever ISK/LP number is competitive with the rest of the stuff from the pirate faction LP stores.
Adding them to exploration drops would also let people who don't live in the pirate faction areas a chance to get them. Adding them to faction spawns in appropriate null-sec areas (rare rat spawns in anoms?) would provide yet another boost to null-sec potential income without adding another ISK faucet. Having 2 or 3 possible sources (1 guaranteed via the LP store, 1 random drop in specific regions from specific rat types such as Sansa, and 1 completely random via exploration sites) might also address the uneven distribution stance by CCP.
And the materials costs on building them definitely needs to change slightly, to include some PI goods in addition to consuming a regular tower + minerals. Maybe even include some lesser desired T2 construction components.

I haven't had any coffee yet this morning, but if CCP doesn't want people to put up faction POS in highsec, why don't they just make the control tower item contraband? Or just flat out add a "Not usable in highsec" flag like bombs and cynos? |

make them amazing ( lots more shield, pg and cpu ect.) then make the material cost 50+ times the normal tower amazing tower for anywhere, but its an auto target because its basically a titan with no pilot. the killmail would be juicy
highsec ones will be grief decced, the killmail will induce attacks. lowsec and nullsec have dreads and supers so taking on a super tank tower isnt as bad as highsec.
they might even be good in wormholes, less fuel means less trips, plus the extra shield and stuff will help keep pvper from attacking its a high end wormhole it would be hard to take these down but its wormhole space they will move eventually. |
