These terrible mining missions have destroyed my ability to run missions as they are incredibly time consuming and now constitute half of the missions given by Manufacturing agents that previously gave out none.
It seems that CCP is forcing these missions upon us simply because somebody came up with a bunch of new missions to bloat out the patch notes but CCP haven't considered that these missions are painful and make Manufacturing agents unusable.
There are many other agents that have had these mining missions added to their repertoire and they should be removed and only appear when using Mining and Astrosurveying agents.

If forcing new content on people is the only way to have the new content get used, the new content was just a waste of development time.
I'm sure CCP will look at this as a feature though. Nevermind the fact that if courier missions are balanced, kill missions are balanced, and mining missions are balanced, what is the harm in letting people choose which ones they run? Introducing mining missions to balance courier missions is really a weird way to do things.

Might I suggest just going to nother type of Agent. And stop nagging, it's annoying! There are many folks that like this sort of mission, wgile I'm not one of them, it's nice that there is more variation in Missions.

Find a mission hub with several agents. When one gives you a mission you dont want and you dont want to loose standings by refusing too many, go to the next. Last time I moved our base of operations after about 10 minutes of searching with the www.battleclinic.com agent tool, I found a high-sec hub with 10 mostly high-quality level 4 agents with several corps within 1 jump.
Don't expect everything handed to you on a silver platter, I'm sure the miners are overjoyed at having more missions they can do. Find a way to adapt to the situation and move on with life. Its a freakin game.

I suppose declining a mission that involves something with Mining Lasers, is completely out of the question, yes?
Enjoy, and fly safe..

hey hey
Many people asked for Mining missions to be re added to the game and CCP actually listened and addedd this content. This is a GOOD thing.
Just for the OP and others who are crying over this new content, try to remember how mission distribution works.
Each Division has a balance of mission types with the command and security moving towards more encounter than courier/trade/mine. This gives your agent more of a variety and gives you, the player, a much more involved experience.
If you wish to run to the forums and complain then it would be better if you took this into account first.
What CCP could do is change the division balances towards a much more specific style. There does need to be specific divisions for specific content. Players do want an agent who will give them 100% kill missions and some actually want 100% mining and those who want a variety can choose a more balanced agent division.
The mission system in general could do with a complete overhaul and the content and design changed to be more in with the eve philosophy rather than the grind that it is currently. Ive said it many times before and still firmly believe that PVE in this warm fluffy world we live in could be something incredible.

Asking people to move to new types of agents due to increased mining missions just turns even more agents worthless. Out of all the level 4 agents in the game, 10% receive 90% of the missions, is this really a good idea to reinforce?
What harm is there in allowing someone to select the type of mission they want to run? If courier missions are balanced, and I want to run them 100% of the time, there shouldn't be any issue. Instead they are using mining missions to punish people into doing a variety of missions. Randomly giving people content from the good bin and bad bin seems like a poor way to balance things.

What I think the OP is getting at, is why not have mining missions be given out by Mining Agents?
Or at the very least, tweak down the percentages of Manufacturing, Distribution & Storage agents.
A Distribution Agent should be something like 90% Courier/5% Kill/5% Mining. But right now it seems like mining missions are given an allocation around 40-50%. WTF

Edited by: Kessiaan on 14/12/2007 07:36:56 I like doing the mining missions, I finally have a decent way to gain standing and get LPs.
That said, mining missions should only be given out by Mining and Astrosurveying agents. Even lv. 2s would take an age without decent mining skills, lv. 3s and up you need a barge at a minimum to finish them quickly and ice / gas harvesting missions are straight-up impossible without advanced mining skills that normal people without strange urges to slay evil space rocks usually don't have.
Also, please take the combat missions OFF my mining agents. I have about as much ability to do a lv. 4 combat mission as those guys have to do my mining missions.
Thank you. ----- My in Eve Profile |

This. Mining missions should be given out by mining agents, isntead of suddenly being thrown repeatedly at folks who only have hauling or shooting skills.
Likewise, an industrial character that has no skillpoints outside of industry shouldn't suddenly have an L4 combat mission dropped on his head when all he's interested in is some hauling or mining.

Mining missions have always been given out by manufacturing agents: Material for warp preparation is a mining mission and it is given out by manufacturing agents by at least 20 months (my life in EVE).
While courier missions should be more common than mining missions, it is only logic that a manufacturing agents give out missions to gather materials for the manufacturing (would like some mission where you have to buy or produce intermediate materials but that can be hard to balance).
Generally speaking Astrosurvey and Mining division should give a high percentage of mining missions, Manufacturing a high percentage of courier missions, but they should have a percentage of the other kinds of missions.
Even kill agents should have a small percentage of non kill missions, like the old mission where the kill agent was requiring a delivery of quafe ultra for a party of the division personnel.

This is simply not true. Materials for War Preparation is classified as Trade under the mission journal and here is why. You can buy Omber/Kernite (l3/l4 respectively, not familiar with lower levels of this mission). You can not buy: Green Arisite, Oeryl, Gamboge Cytoserocin, Crystalline Icicle, Azure Ice, Geodite, Polygypsum, Chartreuse Cytoserocin, Banidine, or any of the other new minerals/gases that you need to harvest in these new mining missions. Those listed are just from the l4s I have been offered and happened to screenshot.
Additionally, these new ones are listed as encounter (kill) missions, as, supposedly (I lack the skills/desire to do them), rats spawn while mining/harvesting.

Actually, from my experience with a Lvl 3 agent, rats begin in the area, you fight them off, then mine with ease. (Lvl 4s I imagine might spawn rats while you're mining.)

Its the most annoying thing ever.
Go here, destroy drones. Come back with something that can mine, throw stuff into a jet can. Return to starbase, return to mission sight with a hauler and make two trips to get all of the 9000m3 of some fake ore that I couldn't just buy off the market because some ******* at ccp thought it would be neato to force a player that runs internal security missions to mine and haul. ________________________ Is that the best you can do?! |

I was coming here to find out more about these missions. They seem worthless. At least the few level 3 missions that I have come across. I They were listed as "Encounter" missions but want to mine within them. At least the one I currently have up is setup that way. Is there a database for the new missions yet? That way i can decided if I want to do them or decline.

I haven't been able to do a single mining mission all day because my MINING agent keeps giving me kill missions - turned down one.. got another one.. went mining for four hours... turned it down.. got another one... sheesh.

CCP as usual gave in to one group but ignored the others . .
Originally by: Patch Notes Security agents are no longer giving out mining missions. No more milk runs!
Kill mission will most likely still be given out by Mining Agents
