Edited by: Mastin Dragonfly on 14/12/2007 08:46:15 Works like the dronebay does, only in space. Each drone has a bandwidth requirement simular to their size, 5mb for lights, 10mb for mediums and 25mb for heavies. If you have 75mb bandwidth you can put drones into space until the total sum of their bandwidths though the max of 5 drones still applies, for instance 3 heavies or 2 heavies, 2 mediums and 1 light. They did this to allow ships to have a bigger dronebay for spare drones without automaticly being able to field 5 heavy drones, so it mostly affects sub-battleship sized ships. Also some ships are no longer able to field 5 heavies like the Myrmidon and Eos.

Edited by: 7shining7one7 on 14/12/2007 09:17:01 drone bandwith:
ship bandwith / drone bandwith = max drones in space of that type of drone.
max drones in space at a time on non capital ships regardless of bandwith are 5.
a ship with 75mb bandwith like the myrmidon can have the following in space: 3 heavies (25mb each) OR 5 mediums, OR 5 lights.. etc.

The drone bandwidth is simply just another requirement strain on drone users.
Before Trinity, if a ship had 25m3 dronebay, you could put in 5 small scout drones. And if you had enough skill in drones (Drones V), you could send all 5 drones out into space.
After Trinity, if a ship has 25m3 dronebay, and you have Drones V, but your ship only has 20mb Drone Bandwidt, that means you can no longer send 5 drones out into space, as per pre-Trinity, but only 4 drones since small drones take 5mb Bandwidth.
20mb bandwith available on ship / 5mb per drone = 4 drones max
Which means that 5th drone you used pre-Trinity is now just a spare drone in your dronebay. -------------------------------------------------- "Every complex problem has a solution which is easy, neat and wrong!" |
