EVE University - Welcoming Both New and Experienced Pilots
EVE University was formed in March of 2004, with the goal of serving the needs of players new to the EVE universe. Since that time it has gone from strength to strength and with hundreds of members currently enrolled, it makes us one of the largest corporations in EVE with thousands of graduates across the galaxy.
EVE University is a rarity in New Eden: A purely altruistic corporation. Every day, faculty and older students give freely to new players their most valuable resource: their time and guidance. This has made EVE University what may be the friendliest corp in the game.
We are a relaxed corporation, with an open door to new players (typically under 8 weeks old) who wish to learn. Faculty and mentoring positions are also available, and both students and Faculty are welcome to stay just for a "term", or longer if they wish to assist us in our mission.
Some of the benefits from joining:
- Scheduled classes on all aspects of life in New Eden.
- One-on-One mentoring from experienced players.
- Ad-Hoc Events run by experienced graduates.
- Guest Lectures, from big names throughout EVE.
- Group NPC Pirate hunts and Mining expeditions.
- Corporation Incursion and Wormhole fleets.
- PvP combat lessons, including tackling, EWAR and scanning.
- Guided mission and complex runs.
- A skillbook program, providing most books to students for free.
- A library of videos and recorded lessons covering many subjects.
- Corporation research and production access.
- Jump-clone access for all members.
- Hangars stocked with common ships, modules and ammo for member use.
- Special recruitment posts, from corporations wishing to recruit our graduates.
- Extensive standings network, identifying the bad guys from the good guys before they act.
- Supportive in-game, forum and voice environment, always willing to answer your questions.
... and much more.
New Players Come join a corporation whose sole interest is introducing you to EVE and making you a better player, and providing you the support needed in those early months. The only thing we ask is that you have finished Eve's introductory tutorial and follow-on missions - we can help you take it from there! Many fine capsuleers have started their career in EVE University, and you should check out our previous recruitment threads to hear the testimonials of players from all over EVE.
Experienced Players Do you wish to give something back to the EVE community? Would like to give your game more meaning than the next wallet entry, dead NPC rat, or 0.0 system taken? Become a faculty member at EVE University. You will find teaching and mentoring new players a very rewarding experience, while still being able to enjoy the game. Our criteria for more experienced players is a willingness and desire to help and instruct new players, and to support EVE University's mission.
Applying Applications are accepted from all stations - just look up EVE University in-game and click "Apply to Join" at the bottom of the window, alternatively apply in person at the Pator Tech School in the Aldrat system of the Metropolis region. The full step by step application process is available on our website. Please remember to respect EVE UniversityGÇÖs mission - E-UNI is not a warehouse for alts, nor is it a flag to hide behind when spying, or free supplies for your own corp, and suspicious members are tracked and will of course be removed.
Want to Know More? Join the channel E-UNI and talk to some of our friendly members and students, as well as those willing to assist new players from other corporations, or browse our comprehensive wiki.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What rules do I have to follow while I am in EVE University? A: Our rules are available on our site, but the short version is that you shouldn't be an ass, and remember to respect the rights of other members.
Q: Can you explain how the classes work? A: All live classes are taught on our Mumble server, and many involve practical elements. As well as these, we have a library of recorded classes, for those who were unable to attend or want to start learning straight away.
Q: How much do I pay to attend EVE University classes? A: All our classes are free of charge to our members and alumni. While there are no live public classes available for non-members, we do occasionally hold public events, and most classes are available publicly in our library for everyone.
Q: Then how is EVE University funded? A: The majority of our operational costs are covered by the 7.5% tax on mission rewards and bounties, which is used to find things like the skillbook program which provides free skillbooks to members. However, the majority of the programs are run on donations from the EVE community, either in the form of ISK, modules, ships, blueprints and other resources.
Q: How long can I stay in EVE University? A: There is no time limit on your stay in EVE University, however many members want to explore the rest of the EVE universe and move on to other corporations to get a deeper knowledge of industry, PvP, trading or other professions after a two or three months.
Q: How much PvP is there, and when can I get involved? A: A new member can get involved with practical PvP training almost immediately. While we do suggest you take one of the PvP basics classes, we have fleets which go pirate hunting and running around lo-sec, null-sec and wormhole space quite often. Even the newest pilots are a valuable asset in an E-UNI fleet, as within a few hours they are capable of 'tackling' the targets, keeping them in place for the big guns.
Q: What about wars? A: While it is somewhat uncommon for EVE University to declare war, unfortunately some do not know our track record, and attempt to decare war on us to get easy kills. In these cases we switch gear to become almost entirely PvP focused and those who do not feel they are ready to fight are encouraged to leave and return one the war ends. During this time, all non-PvP activity (mining, hauling, running missions) is usually suspended in order to deny the hostiles any targets of opportunity, and all resources are tasked to destroy the attackers with maximum prejudice, so we may return to teaching all aspects.
Q: What about when I leave? A: Once you leave E-UNI, as an Alumni you retain access to almost all the Universities resources, with the ability to attend classes, access to our forums, and so on, with the only items restricted being those which cannot be provided to people outside the corporation.
Q: This sounds like something I'd love to contribute to. How can I help? A: You can join EVE University as a teacher if you feel that's something you'd like to do. If you are not interested in teaching but still would like to contribute, you can always donate to the EVE University corp in any form available. All modules, ships, skillbooks, blueprints and materials are more than welcome.

Nepenthis: If you're thinking of joining, don't hesitate. I've had a great time and as a real new player it's been an amazing introduction to EVE.
Artemis Renard: Great corp, great learning experience, and awesome people. I can't possibly emphasize enough the importance for people, both new to the game and returning from a hiatus, to give these guys a try. No other corp in eve gives you this kind of introductory experience.
Kriegarman: E-Uni is epic fun. I have been there well over 2 years. I enjoyed every day of it. always a friendly atmosphere, loads of ops to shoot stuff, be it rocks, missioning, WH's or PvP.
iLLeLogicaL: Great corporation! I would advise every new & old pilot who feels swarmed by the many options & possibilities to join E-Uni, and enjoy learning about eve in a safe, friendly, awesome environment.
L'ouris: Wonderful Corporation for a new player! Extremely active with many helpful members on at all times. Would recommend to any player looking to learn more about any aspect of Eve.
Jiang XiuJuan: The uni was great. I learned a ton and had a great time. I highly recommend it to anyone searching for something to do in Eve.
NagromNniuq: Fantastic corporation. Should be mandatory for anyone new to Eve. Friendly people with all the advice and guidance you could ask for in a game that is arguably the most challenging of them all.
K'ruel: Excellent corp for new players trying to find their feet. Plenty of classes to help learn all aspects of Eve.
Khanda Rahl: If you're new to the game, or getting bored of running missions/mining/etc and wondering what else is out there, this is the corp to join. Sooner or later most people move on. But whatever they decide to do, they're better pilots and have more experience and options thanks to the time they spent in the Uni.
Marius Labo: The benefits I have received as a player and a member of the University have been priceless. I was overwhelmed but now I am learning and having a great time.
MyrddinBishop: I would highly recommend this corp for anyone new to EVE or trying to figure out what to do with their EVE career.
USnameri: I can say that I learned something from these pilots every time I logged into the game. Be it in a class, on a WH op, or in a fleet the pilots you will get to fly with are top notch.
Chernitski: This is hands down the best corporation to join if you're a new player or if you want to teach new players. I wouldnt've played EvE more than a few months if it wasn't for EvE-University.
Drevlon Rashon: I've learned a great deal with Eve University and now I get to give back. Most other corporations you come in at the bottom and you stay at the bottom. It is a great place to learn, as well as grow.
Davril Greenstride: As far as I'm concerned, EVE University is absolutely the best way to start your career in EVE. I've seen many aspects of EVE through the Uni that I might never have encountered on my own. It's a great place to learn the ropes.
Burlinton: Wonderful place to help figure out one of the toughest games around. Kelduum Revaan CEO, EVE University |

Loved E-UNI so much.
Attended classes, joined fleets, had ships blown up, blew up other ships, made friends, taught classes, left for pastures new. In pretty much that order.
Recommended to new pilots who want to learn more about EVE Online! Don't expect them to guide and hand-hold you every step of the way - you need to take the initiative and make your own entertainment sometimes. |

I have never regret my decision to join the Uni in the first place, i've learned so much here, literally most of the things i learn about the game, i learn from the Uni. Do not hesitate to join! or you'll never know what you're missing. Eve is a big, dark, scary place and Uni is giving away FREE flashlights and shotguns! |

EVE University is a pretty great place.
Of course I would say that, as I'm horrendously biased, but I'm confident that the statement stands. We're certainly not perfect, but for over seven years we've done our level best to offer new pilots the best possible start to their lives in New Eden. It's not all about the learning, either - the University is a great place to find friends and forge connections that will last far beyond your eventual graduation.
The University isn't the only route into EVE, nor is it necessarily the "best" as what we do will not cater to or suite everyone, but I strongly recommend that any new pilot at least look into what we have to offer. Director of Human Resources EVE University |

If you're a new player to Eve, I cannot recommend it enough. Like others have said, I would probably have never made it much past the trial if it weren't for Eve University.
They are a great bunch of people, many of whom will go out of their way to help you with any questions you may have. The Uni Wiki is stellar for all sorts of information. The classes are taught frequently, are well organised and often include extremely helpful practicals.
If you find yourself new to Eve and overwhelmed by everything at the beginning (who isn't? :P ) this is THE best place you can go in my opinion. |

Many agree that one of the keys to keeping players in EVE is their joining a "good player corporation" - the earlier in their career, the better their initial experience and the higher the chance they will find this game enjoyable.
EVE University is such a "good" corp, with a long trustworthy history of teaching new players how this game works. It is a safe haven to take your first steps in learning about this game at "core" levels - as in the social aspects, as well as the technical side.
It has rules about being polite, not humiliating new players for "stupid" mistakes nor questions and the like. There's no scamming while *IN* the uni, no smack-talk in local... so on and so forth. Some find these rules a problem; most who join don't.
The corp is unique in many ways; one of which is a sponsored forum run by the uni where other corporations, across all aspects of this game, may recruit from EVE Universities' membership.
It is expected that the current members will move on when they feel ready and the "work fair" forum is there to help them find their next step in this game. Many such corporations also have reduced requirements for recruiting from E-Uni - simply because they know that they are getting "basic trained" players who have some experience, with instruction, to back up the SP that shows.
So if you're new, and have a lot of questions, this is a great place to join up and, when you feel ready, receive assistance in finding where you want to go - whatever your eventual goals are in EVE. |

Learn more about EVE in a non-hostile environment.
For example, how to gank effeciently. How to play docking games. How to scan down hostiles. What griefing means and start taking your first steps into becoming a good FC before moving on to life in null.
More importantly; Learning to embrace the hostile nature of EVE and understand why new players often fall victim to pirates, scammers etc will help you understand and possibly embrace this form of gameplay.
In EVE, there is room for everyone. But many does not think this should include the baddies.
I've been in E-U for a few months now and have met new friends, learned alot that I didn't know before and been challenged in some of our many many PVP fleets. The big and scary beyond doesn't seem quite so scary anymore :) |

playing eve was starting to get rather boring for me not because the game itself was boring it was because i didnt have any friends playing anymore and i couldnt find a corp that met any of my needs or even had people on when i was on. I joined the Uni and all that changed there are literally people on at all hours of the day and night makes life a bit more interesting when you actually have people to interact with.
The classes are the best, even if you think you have mastered a skill you can attend a class and the person teaching may have a different way of doing something you have done forever so you will pick up new tricks and also be able to test out how much you really know. I would recommend the Uni to all new player and older players just bored to death with their current situtation. |

You Know You Want to Join E-Uni :)
Apart from the skillbook / ship replacement and other programs, the feeling of being with other people in your level (of SP and Skill wise) is very good, think of Uni as the place where you can try almost everything (well almost) and see for yourself what is right and what is wrong.
There is also a big set of end-game (in every aspect) "E-Uni Friendly" corporation (check out of Work Fair sub-forum) that recruit from Uni members, during your time in Uni you can make connections with people or even better, you and a group of likeminded friends can found a new Corp and join that big set.

I have learnt a good deal in the short time I have been with the uni, most of which would have taken many months to learn, had I not had the uni. Also, the fleets and events you take part in and the people that you play with will teach you valuable skills that you can take beyond the uni in the future.

I love the EVE University. I first played the game about 2 years ago and only lasted about a month. The clunky interface, the depth of things to do, the lack of help in the NPC starter corp, all led me into confusion and frustration. Several months ago I decided to try the game again and found out about the Uni. Without a doubt joining was the best decision I could have made. The people are friendly and eager to help new players. No question is too dumb to ask and everyone will do their best to help you understand a concept. In addition all the wiki entries, classes, and the forums opened a whole new world of the game to me. If, like me, you really want to play EVE but you can't seem to penetrate its hard shell and get to the good stuff in the middle, you can do much worse than join Eve University. Well you might be thinking about eve university as a place to go with you new eve character. Well your looking in the right place. It does not mater what skill path you want to take, the University is a great resource for you. How do I know this? Let me tell you of my experience.
I got into the game due to some friends that came from World of Warcraft. I was a bit late leaving WoW, and pulled some very dumb moves. Including lagging out a node in a starter zone with the use of a burst ecm. After a talk the corp decide that would be best if, I joined a training corp to learn about the game. I was the classic nOOb,
I applied to EVE University and was in the Q for about a month. Good thing to as this allowed me to repair my security status. With the help of a GM that felt sorry for me. I spent that time skilling up as a miner.
I get in. One day later we are war decked. I find out about the war time standard operating procurers, and about how to setup the overview. I transport my stuff out of my old home to aldrat. That was when I started to get an idea that I would like this place. When I went into old mining system in an industrial. I saw a post UNI scout in system dock up posted by worst can flipper in system.
Once I get back to Aldrat, inquire if that normal and am told yes. They also tell me to join the first fleet of the war if I want to see why, It turned out with the low skills I had a was just able to fly an e-war cruiser. So I join the first fleet and OMG it 108 people. We move through the local low sec everyone runs away. After an hour into fleet, we receive in local an invite to fight at an asteroid belt. Our fleet commander warps us in. Violating rule one of UNI tactics: Fight only on your own terms I later learn. Well the fight was going well for our side until we got hot dropped by three or four capital ships plus support. As e-war I died in seconds it was glorious, plus the University replaced my ship.
My focus switched to becoming the best e-war pilot possible. Less than a week later I was no longer mining for isk. I had discovered missions. One month after that I did my first wormhole fleet in my drake. I discovered exploration and needed another account to train the skills on. During this time my main had started doing level four missions to the point I needed a way to haul the salvage to market. I redirected the skill path of my explorer to include hauling. I finished training him this last month and transferred him to my main account. He now has his own hauling corp, has both a block-aid runner and freighter. My main is still doing missions for isk, has planetary interaction on three worlds. I am now looking at different pvp aspects, incursions, and manufactoring. Not bad for miner that took a 5.2 security status hit for lighting off a burst ecm in high sec 8 months ago.
So yes, The Uni is great place to learn almost everything. |

If it wasn't for the university, I'd probably have quit the game after the trial ended. This main thing is that the game's learning curve is so steep that you would need a personal touch to help you along. The classes are the BEST thing in the university because they let you learn SO much and there are practicals too, which let you test out some stuff, and not just reading about it somewhere, its totally different. The teaching staff are excellent and will guide you 1-on-1 if you are a bit slow in picking up the techniques to survive in EVE.
Highly recommend!!! Fly Safe o7 |

Are you new to EVE, or perhaps you've been around a bit and are somewhat frustrated? Looking to learn? Then perhaps EVE University is for you.
I bumbled around a couple of months in New Eden when I decided to apply. Best decision ever. I now have contacts and friends like you wouldn't believe and I'm learning more and more about EVE.
What's it like? Well our learning evironment is designed for you to have fun, and to not be afraid of making mistakes and yet protect you (except from yourself... ) from many of the dangers that can frustrate newer players. We even have programs such as our Skillbook Replacement Program, Purchase and Build Your Own Ship programs, a ship replacement program, modules, ammo, T1 frigate hulls, and the best is it's okay that you go out a lose some of it.
We teach many subjects and have many guest lecturers. We've had CCP staff and the legendary Chribba come in and teach.
Is it perfect? No. Is it for everyone? No. It is, however, a fantastic place to learn and get one up on the learning curve. There are even those who hang around our public channel and help. We have some interesting characters join us there too, and impart knowledge on some controversial subjects. We also have many that simply learn from being in the channel and using our public resources such as our wiki, the recorded classes, and even some video's.
And rumour has it that this weekend (September 10 and 11, 2011) there will be a "Queue Smasher" event where many of the Personnel Officers (recruiters) and other staff will be on to conduct interviews and really smash the infamous queue so I'm thinking it may be a good time to apply and get into the queue. How do you apply? I'm glad you asked. You can begin your application process here.
Who knows, maybe you'll get me as your interviewer |

Great corporation for very new players and they offer classes on a lot of different things. Is also a great place to go to try and build up some contacts in the Eve Universe and make friends for the entire time you're playing the game.
Ultimately I would say though, don't go to it as a permanent home. You will outgrow it eventually and at that stage become frustrated with the rules that are in place to protect the even less experienced characters and at that stage it's time to move on and join one of the countless other corps in Eve, with there being quite a few formed out of former Uni pilots.
Can't recommend it enough for the new players looking to try out the basics of every aspect of the game, though it does struggle get into real depth with any single aspect... |

I've been playing on and off for about a year. While doing an incursion, a friendly soul helped me with my fit and pointed me towards EVE University. Since I joined, I have learned a thousand fold more than any of the tutorials or first-hand experience can teach. Never thought I would, but I have learned tremendous amounts about PvP and have participated in numerous fleets which were thoroughly enjoyable. Even if you lose your ship, you gain invaluable knowledge about what to do (or not) the next time, be it fleet PvP or solo. I would recommend this corp to anyone that is starting out or an old hand that needs pointers or willing to teach a few things to the FNG's.

Eve Uni has been one of the best corporations I have been in, it's almost a must for new pilots.
The infamous learning curve of eve is a lot better tackled when you have friendly, experienced, and motivated people to help train and teach the newer generations. What the management and teachers are doing here in this corp really shines a light in the blackness that is the eve universe. I have had some of my most fun times in this corp, whether it be the pvp fleets, the wormhole ops, the low sec camping trips, or even just learning something new through the classes. I highly recommend new players join this corp so they can be better prepared for when they really decide to go out on their own. |

When I first began playing EVE, a couple of friends from work decided they were going to help me and kind of 'show me the ropes'. Though the game was fun, there was just SO much to it and I really wasn't getting the help I needed. I lasted 2-3 months before I quit.
Earlier this year I decided I would give EVE another try. I was told about E-UNI and soon joined. I have been a member for a few months now but I have learned a lot and gained TONS of experience already that I don't think I would have otherwise, or at least this quickly. E-UNI has improved the experience for me and I now see EVE as an amazing game. Free skillbooks, E-UNI supplied ships, tons of classes taught by experienced players, frequent fleet ops for experience, tons of helpful people and more... I can't understand why any new player would NOT join this corp.
Joining E-UNI has been the best decision I made in the game. Period. |

EVE Online is what you make of it. You start off with the tutorials, then the epic arc missions while you try and decide what type of player you are going to be. With EVE UNI you get skill book reimbursement ( up to a limit ), lectures and classes on varying aspects of the game, ship replacement if lost on UNI pvp runs, mentoring if you want it, and a wealth of knowledge available on the website. All of this without being asked for anything in return except to abide by the UNI rules.

Excellent corp for new and old players alike.
I highly recommend E Uni as one of the most helpful corporations in Eve. If you're interested in learning about new aspects of the game, this is an excellent place to discuss ideas and try out new things. Excellent classes, fleets, and discussion channels on every topic of the game. Highly participtory and active corporation. Highly organized. Limitations include no pvp in player owned nullsec, no corp faction warfare, no pirating or "darkside" eve activities. That said, I have been in awsome fleets attacking wormhole POS's, and supercarrier kills. This corp offers great diversity and depth of knowledge of many aspects of the game. I would highly recommend this corp to anyone looking to get more out of the game as one of the best corps out there for new and old players alike. For a more PVP focused corp please also check out Red versus Blue, and for nullsec alliance I hear Goonswarm is popular but have little experience with them. I also highly enjoyed faction warfare with Khanid Provincial Vanguard, but not sure which corporations are active now in this area. Feel free to contact in game if have questions about E Uni. Thank you for the two replys,
My email is working fine and hasn't sent a reply to spam bin.
I could try another mail address but the one I am using is long established and used for mainly accounts and general emails.
I could use a business email but that isn't really appropriate for a gaming account.
I assume the reply from registration is instant with conformation replys and sending password, but it's probably 24 hours since registration and still received nothing.
The recognition of registration is acknowledged, just the mail with password hasn't functioned.

By the way - I don't use either gmail or hotmail as providers of email addresses, find they are blocked quite often as they tend to be used a great deal by spammers.

I tried many corps when i started playing the game.
Got a bit sick really of all the corps who wanted to force me into a particular playing style. I was told I'd be doing this and that and I should train this or that even when I told them I wanted to do mining, trading and ratting in null sec.
Finally I found EVE University, got through the admission to corp process and it has never been the same since. I got into proper fleets with other people, learned to do what I liked doing, not being told off on what I should rather be doing and actually took classes that taught me a lot.
I took part in incursions with them, even though I wasn't uber skilled they helped me out and got me into fleets where other corps and public fleets would just not look at my fit twice.
I took part in a few wars and learned about fleet ops and I can say I am impressed with how they work, I have done fleets with other corps as well, lets put it this way. They want to say &$##* #*#*(#@ #*($#*$* get this done blah blah.
In the UNI fleets not only were we taught how and why to do things, but also the regular low sec roams showed us in detail how to PVP.
If anything you can always expect support from the UNI, they will bring you in with them when doing incursions, and help you out and even watch out for you. They will also take you into roams, teach you about how PVP works, and show with first hand experience why you shouldn't be afraid to lose your ship and make you good until you would laugh at a shiny ship and not be afraid to take them down in your not-so-shiny ship. ;-)
EVE University has been a great experience for me personally, what most people in EVE learn through trial and error and often frustration over a period of many years, the uni taught me over a period of many months but with exceptional support.
Just wanted to finish by saying that I was once stuck in a place with no help. I called out for help and people literally dropped what they were doing and came to my aid. I am not talking a couple of people going, hey I'll be there can you hang tight till I finish this mission, I am talking about a Uni blob undocking from different stations and doing multiple jumps to help me out. Things like that you have to experience and words cannot do any justice to them.
Maybe people will have great experiences in EVE with the corp and friends of their choosing. For me however EVE Uni has been the best experience I could have ever had in a universe as rich and diverse as EVE.
If you're thinking about joining the Uni, do yourself a favor and get on board with the people who have made New Eden a home for me and many others.

Been in E-UNI for almost 2 months now.
I have long searched for a corp/group of people where one can feel at home. People are helpful and do not call you names if you happened to do not know something.
Then I got chance to be part of Personnel Department and I must say: the feeling that you are part of something big, seamless and that you get people that needs help into this corp is something you cannot buy.
Of course, E-UNI is not for everyone, but those of you who needs/want to know how this game works and want to become an experienced pilot, EVE University is for you!

We've been having frigate free-for-alls to practice our PvP (and get newbies used to seeing their ships blow up!), incursion fleets to earn us some ISK, and then setting up shop in losec to spend our hard-earned cash on more ships with which to explode other losec denizens.

'tis Monday, so time for an update!
Last week saw ten live classes and four special events across a variety of subjects, including: Fleets, Tanking, Amarr Ships, New Assault Frigates, Wars, EWAR, Wormholes, Gunnery, EFT & EVEMon, Fanfest and Tech 2 Production.
I'd like to thank the members of The Red Circle [TRECI] who took part in a live Q&A on the subject of wormholes. TRECI operate a wormhole apprenticeship program with us and are always a great source of both knowledge and experience for our students.
Over the weekend we held a PvP event with Red Vs. Blue (Purple), which was great fun for everybody involved! RvB beat us pretty soundly (nearly 300 Uni ships lost to just 130 odd Purple), but I think we did okay for ourselves. Many thanks to RvB for all the good fights! Over 400 ships destroyed in three days is pretty good going. Hopefully we can offer events like this on a more frequent basis in the future.
CCP Navigator kindly visited us on Sunday for a live Q&A on the upcoming Fanfest. If you're attending, a recording of the Q&A should be available on our recorded class library before too long, and watch out for the Uniblob in Iceland!
As always, recruitment is open for new and old pilots looking to learn. Check out our how to apply wiki section for more information on what to do next. Alternatively if you'd like to teach at E-UNI, perhaps as a guest, check out our joining the faculty wiki section.

Yay, Monday!
Last week saw five scheduled classes, two unscheduled classes, one open Q&A and one special guest lecture on the following subjects: Armour Tanking, EVE University, Fleets, Solo PvP, Third Party Market Websites and Capital Ship Construction.
A quieter week than the one previous with our scheduled PvP event having to be delayed. Many thanks to capital ship building boss Sinqlaison for stopping by to fill unistas in on the facts behind capital ship construction.
If all goes to plan, next week should feature a more substantial update.

Monday has arrived and it's time for an update.
This week saw three scheduled events and five scheduled classes on the following subjects: Shield Tanking, Rendering EVE Models, Overheating, the API system and Station Trading.
Scheduled classes took a hit this week on account of a war declaration by Sicarius., a group we've tangled with in lowsec a few times in the past. Numerous unscheduled classes on various war and PvP-related subjects took over from our regular class schedule as a result. Our scheduled PvP event for the week was once again delayed.
As the killboard will show, Sicarius. began the war strongly, destroying dozens of our ships with relative ease. Many thanks to them for bringing some excellent fights and helping to teach our students a great deal in the process. As the University adapted we managed to hit back with a number of good kills and I'm very happy with our performance thus far.
In training news, I'd like to talk a little about The Red Circle Inc. [TRECI] (won't link for some reason), who have run an outstanding wormhole apprenticeship program with us for many months now. Taking groups of students from various timezones into their corp for an entire month, TRECI teaches everything there is to know about wormhole life. March will see the start of their latest apprenticeship month and I thank them again for their efforts in educating the next generation of EVE pilot.
In related news, this week I was very pleased to note the addition of a similar program for nullsec living being offered by our friends in PonyWaffe. This new nullsec apprenticeship program will further improve the University's ability to offer a wide ranging education to those who desire it, even in areas that E-UNI is not directly engaged in.
That's about it for this week, with war tying up the majority of our activities. As always, recruitment is open for new and old pilots looking to learn. Check out our how to apply wiki section for more information on what to do next. Alternatively if you'd like to teach at E-UNI, perhaps as a guest, check out our joining the faculty wiki section.
If you have any questions feel free to ask them here, otherwise I'll see you next week! Director of Human Resources EVE University https://twitter.com//DarianReymont http://www.eveuniversity.org |

Monday again. I didn't post last week due to being away on the Monday, so this should be a bumper update!
For the week ending Sunday the 19th we saw three events and six scheduled classes on the following subjects: Fitting, EVE University, Gallente Ships, CSM7, EWAR and Incursions.
Classes were still reasonably sparse due to our continued war with Sicarius. and instead we saw the usual PvP-focused unscheduled classes alongside several PvP events. One notable occurrence was the first ever loss of capital class ships by the University, when NC. hotdropped a fleet we had bashing a Sicarius. POS. Whilst those piloting the capitals in question will never be allowed to live down this great and terrible shame, a lot was learned by everybody on the day.
Sicarius. allowed their wardec to expire shortly thereafter, ending what was one of the most enjoyable wardecs we've been a part of for a fairly long time. Again I extend my thanks to them for some awesome fights and a great attitude.
Also, thanks to the ISD for running a seminar on the many aspects of industry on the 18th, which many of our students enjoyed.
For the week ending Sunday the 26th we saw five events and eleven scheduled classes on the following subjects: Tackling, Target Management, Production, Salvaging, EVE University, Bookmarking, D-Scan, Starmaps, Combat Probing, Scouting, Wormholes and Trolling.
With no active war to fight, classes have begun to pick up pace once again. Many thanks to Zeroniss of Shiva for coming in to talk about the importance of target management in combat, and equal thanks to Silvonus of Shiva for his epic FIVE class series on all things scouting.
I spoke about them before, but I want to extend my thanks again to The Red Circle Inc. (name still won't link properly, sorry) who ran a great wormhole class plus Q&A this week as they prepare to take the next batch of University apprentices into their corp for the entire month of March. Similar thanks go out to PonyWaffe who are preparing to take their first ever batch of apprentices out into nullsec for the same time period.
Apprenticeships aren't the only cool thing happening in March, however, as we prepare for the University's EIGHTH birthday on March 15th. Expect more news about possible events in the coming weeks.

Its well past time for a bit of a bump to the top, and some news!
E-UNI has reworked its recruiting process, and no longer requires a one-on-one interview for most applicants. This means you don't have to hang around and wait to speak to someone for hours/days/weeks any more!
Our staff are working through the backlog at present, and we hope to be up to be fully caught up in a few days, so apply now to get yourself in-line!
Recruitment is still open, and we are accepting new and old players who have things still to learn about EVE!
Sound good? Then apply! Kelduum Revaan CEO, EVE University

An update on our new recruiting process. Most applications are now being reviewed within the same 24 hours from when they are submitted.
You want to be sure that you've completed all the steps properly from our Applying to EVE University wiki page in order to minimize the need for you to be sent to the Interview Queue.
Common things that are missed, thus not allowing your application and questionnaire to be fully reviewed are not inputting the proper API mask (which is fully explained, and be sure that the API mask you create from our link has no expiry, or you may have missed actually applying to us in-game via the Corp UI. Should you join another player corp after applying that will disappear and you'll have to apply in-game (you'll want to re-apply right away since the processing times have gone from a couple of weeks to a couple of days).
There are lots of great learning opportunities for new players and even those with some experience.
Recruitment is always open. Still not sure if we're the learning Corp for you? Drop into our public channel E-UNI and say hi. There are lots of people in there, questions get answered, and many of our guests in there are experienced regulars. Be sure to read the MOTD for the channel for information and links. Eve University is at war with RvB. Their war declaration marks the end of the longest stretch of peace in the history of Eve University (if my perusal of our record isn't faulty, this was a 3 month long peace with the second longest being around 1 month). After some early victories, we are now even in ISK losses and looking forward to more of the good fights that RvB reliably delivers.
Recruitment is always open! No war will put a damper on our service to existing and prospective students, we continue to hold classes and some classes may even continue having practical segments during the war.
Apply and experience the tremendous learning experience that wars offer, if not this one then future ones. Peace is learningful too, of course. \o/

As usual, the majority of classes and Q&As and the like are recorded and archirved in our class library.

We are currently processing applications sent in earlier today.
With Debir Achen -- creator of the genius Noobs on Patrol -- having led his final Noobs on Patrol this past week, a full three regular Noobs on Patrol have started up: - The Wednesday-after-downtime NoP is being continued by a different FC. - A new "New World" NoP on Fridays, for all those in the Americas (so, actually, Thursday evenings for them). - A new Weekend NoP on Saturdays, after downtime at 11:30.
Our Molden Heath wars have ended or are winding down though the war with TL may live on for another week, at least formally. In any case, the war with U-MAD is still ongoing.
In other news, the Ivy League Navy -- having been largely dormant for some time -- is taking shape again. Look forward to frequent, organized PvP fleets for immortals, young and old!
Recruitment is always open!

How much of an effect do the constant wars have on new players trying to learn non-PVP aspects of EvE? I'd like to join Uni, but don't want to be restricted or hunted (more than normal) while trying to learn the game. Look like Uni has been dec'd more often than not lately.

I'd like to join Uni, but don't want to be restricted or hunted (more than normal) while trying to learn the game. Look like Uni has been dec'd more often than not lately. You phrase the question in a great way; I would venture to posit that wars improve the teaching and learning quality of all aspects of EVE, even (especially?) non-PvP aspects.
Firstly, wars encourage members to fleet up when they may otherwise have gone solo. EVE gameplay is, of course, enhanced when playing with other people.
Secondly, wars (the threat of PvP) I think adds depth to all aspects of the game, whether they are directly PvP aspects of the game or not. Learning to play with more consideration, learning what to expect and how to react, and learning the general flexibility that proficient PvP requires in most cases greatly contributes to the same skillsets needed for those "non-PvP" aspects of the game. You may get by and have quite a lot of fun without any of that, but I think generally it will improve the experience.
Thirdly, if you don't join, you won't have access to our events, classes, chat channels, and other s! Tell me how this doesn't restrict learning the game!
Domitian Aurelius wrote:I'd prefer to wait for major pew-pew until I have the skills to be effective / competitive! While it is natural and very common to hesitate approaching PvP, any benefit you get from waiting is rather debatable. You can be an effective and contributing member of a fleet within your first day in space, with very few skills. You are not even restricted to a single basic role as a new PvP pilot, with similar amounts of SP you can effectively fly frigates filling roles such as tackler, electronic warfare, and fleet support (with modules such as remote sensor boosters and tracking links).
Keep in mind, EVE University has been around for many years now with much of the time being filled with war declarations. We continue to teach newer and older player with ever-increasing success, despite and because of the perceived hardships of circumstances such as war.
If we did not feel we can effectively teach during war, we would not be recruiting! If we did not feel that players can have fun or be successful during war, we would not be recruiting!
Thank you for your questions; I hope these answers help.

War update! Northern Strike (the alliance that Mentally Assured Destruction [U-MAD] joined) has retracted their war; Omniscient Order [OMNOR] has declared war. These last several days, the war with Northern Strike became quite interesting: an all-round great demonstration by fleet grunts, allies, people with feathers in their hats, people without feathers in their hats, and all kinds of other people. Let's see what Omniscient Order will bring!
Fleets, events, rather more spectacular events, and classes continue apace. I wish I could write more! *
Membership numbers are climbing, application backlog remains minimal. Regarding the application process, I would like to give the following advice: here is much to read and it can be daunting, especially combined with all the actual game information. Taking the time to thoroughly go through the application steps, following the instructions closely, will greatly smooth the process for both you and us. Neglecting a step or two can easily lead to an otherwise unnecessary interview, which will greatly add to your wait. Time spent reading is time well invested.

If you've been in the queue for weeks (and I know you haven't Mr Snuggles, as I just checked), then clearly you are either doing something very wrong, or stuck some time in March last year, if so you should come join us in 2012 - we have fancier looking ships, and missile effects now.
We sort of changed things a little at the end of March. There are, at time of writing, a total of seven applications going back to 02:10 this morning which have been submitted and are awaiting review. The recruitment staff will look through them, and either accept, reject, or contact the applicant requesting more info (either update the questionnaire, or have a chat).
And even those that apply in-game but don't submit a questionnaire are contacted after a few days, pointing them in the right direction, and the majority of applications are accepted within 24 hours of submitting their questionaire.
So, yea, you may have some outdated information there, Mr Snuggles. Kelduum Revaan CEO, EVE University |

RvB has joined EVE University as allies against U-MAD. Yes, RED Federation and BLUE Republic, working together. After a history of good fights with the Uni, I would dare to say that Purple continues fighting in the name of good fights.
In other news, a fresh class of Personnel Officers are completing training and have joined the effort in keeping our backlogs low. The queues were reduced to 0 earlier today and there are now only a handful of applications to be processed. Some waiting should still be expected.

EVE University recommends folks share their experiences when they're leaving, and I'm happy to oblige. Within 24 hours, my 4-month membership will come to an end. Here are my observations during that time:
Pro:
- Plenty of classes on game basics, well suited for EU timezones and some classes for US folk. Highly recommend DSCAN class!
- Fleets very accommodating to new players. Great for learning, less great if you value keeping your ship alive.
- Variety in fleet types available, whether you want to PvP, mine, explore WHs, etc.
- Friendly atmosphere with active chat channels. Plenty of non-EUNI members in chat, which is usually a good thing.
- Member events are hosted pretty regularly on the weekends and can be a lot of fun.
- Lots of personal dedication from the officers and fleet commanders to keep E-UNI humming along. Respect.
Con:
- E-UNI is constantly at war, making Hi Sec activity near home system very risky. E-UNI seems ill equipped to handle war targets with fancy ships. Some war is a great learning experience, but I saw little effort to keep members safe beyond "don't go to XYZ" messages.
- Ship replacement program is lacking, since all but the newest players can afford to replace T1 frigates and cruisers.
- Surprisingly little group activity to earn ISK. Most fleets/events were PVP-centric.
I'm not sure if this is a critique of E-UNI or EVE Online in general, but I was often bored while playing. E-UNI offered little in the way of (non-scheduled) pick-up activities, so I was generally on my own to find something to do. Other corps may do better in this regard, I'm not sure. They problem may also lay with me, being a more reserved person that doesn't often "make things happen."
In conclusion, I encourage any players that want to learn the basics of EVE Online to join E-UNI, at least for a little while. My first couple months were chalked full of learning.

When my friends told me about a player run corporation with people who spend their own time educating newer players about this game, I almost didn't believe them. I decided to join the uni after a week or so of playing, and this decision has greatly helped me learn the ins and outs of Eve Online. Eve University turns what may seem like an overwhelming amount of information to absorb for new players into organized classes, introducing various topics of Eve in 1-2 hour lessons. I think that for many players who don't have much experience learning intricate games with a steep learning curve, applying for Eve University will be the best decision you will ever make. For players who already have that personal drive to learn the game in their own time, Eve University will steer your attention in the right direction so you do not focus on the wrong subjects.
The constant wars are a hassle, but they usually limit their operations to the system where university headquarters is located. This system is surrounded by 4-5 other systems that include high quality agents for various corporations, so anybody complaining about the wars hampering their ability to mission have not truly done their research.
Depending on the type of player you are, your mileage with Eve University will vary. What I can guarantee is that your mileage with Eve University will be greater than your mileage trying to learn the game alone. I completely recommend all new (and even old) players who want to learn more about the game to check out Eve University.

I have been playing since 06 and now lead Sadistica Alliance, a common frenemy of EVE Uni's Low Sec Camp. We usually fight each other twice a week, sometimes more, and often get into excellent fights. The LSC has surprised many Sadistica members, including myself with their skill and quality of fleet command. They expertly use their numbers to great advantage and often out maneuver or successfully counter maneuver our fleets. We respect them as adversaries and are happy to have such skilled neighbors.

I started m y Eve days as a member of the UNI, and do not regret that decision one bit. There is something for everyone, and if you have a desire to learn as aspect of the game, there will be someone there to help you learn it. I highly recommend them for new or even returning players who want to figure out their niche. |

Joining EVE University, being completely new to the game, was a great idea. It is one of the best places to start, if you have no prior experience within the game, since you get introduced to most of the games possibilities.
However, once you have gotten your feet wet, you will want to move on to a corporation that fits your play style.
But I recommend any newbies to apply to this corporation, since it is a great starting point for learning this game. |

Just so anyone who needs to know we are having what we call a "Queue Smasher" event on Saturday at 19:00 EVE time and then again on Sunday at 16:00 EVE time.
What the heck is a "Queue Smasher" you ask?
Well I'm glad you asked.
It's a event we run about once a month or so where we gather in as many of our recruiters, POs (Personnel Officers) for a few hours and they pound away at our dreaded queue.
What does this mean for you? If you've been awaiting an interview then this weekend could be the time!!
Recruitment is always open.
Applying to EVE University
Some news: I've been working hard on making our recruitment process a little easier with less time spent waiting on your part. We're also seeing some of our POs returning from their "Christmas" break, and we've just brought in a bunch of new POs so they'll be getting trained up and we'll have a fresh, eager batch of POs working that queue!
If you've recently applied we hope to see you soon! Marius Labo Director of Human Resources, EVE University |

I highly recomend E-UNI to anyone who wants to:
1. Learm more about eve and how to play.
2. Teach other people something about eve.
3. Hang out with some great people who are willing to help you.
The only reason I'm leaving is because I want to travel around and it is too dangerous to travel randomly with wardecs the way they are now.
I am planning on returning in the future.
Thank you E-UNI people for a great experience.

Time to move on, so, as requested, my thoughts on my time in Uni.
I joined after spending quite some time in my starter corp. E-UNI is what the starter corps probably should have been.
In EvE University I learnt how to properly operate within the various standard fleet roles, I gained the knowledge I needed to fit ships for their intended role, I learnt how to lead fleets and operate as a squad or wing commander.
Most importantly, though, I was encouraged and supported in everything I wanted to explore, I was frequently given modules, ships or large sums of ISK by players who could afford to do so, and, in time I became one of those players; giving things away along with my advice to newer players.
I did a small amount of teaching but found myself without the time needed to do it properly and although it took forever to have my titles sorted out, I did eventually get my medal :-P
I joined because I wanted to learn about PvP but in a setting where I could explore other things too and without any pressure to fly at any given time. E-UNI is more more than that but for me, this is what I needed and the Uni is flexible enough that it was able to do it without having to treat me as any sort of special case. Had I wanted to learn how to be an industrialist, I am confident that would have been just as automatic.
I am leaving because I have succeeded in learning everything I need to feel happy about moving on and because I don't feel I can give enough back to the Uni right now to justify remaining whilst being such an experience character. I may well return to take on some sort of leadership or teaching role but now it's time to duck out and let the Uni do what it does best: teach new players how to do whatever they want to do.

Well good news to all!
EVE University seems to be very poplular. We have lots of applications we're working hard to get through. We're also bringing in more staff to ensure that our applicants can be seen to as quickly as possible.
I know that there has been a growing backlog and we apologize for that.
As of today I have rolled out a new recruiting process that will help you, that new applicant, to be seen to quicker with much less need to actually have to await in our dreaded queue for your interview.
Providing you have followed all the steps properly that we outline in our Applying to EVE University wiki our Personnel Officers will look to see if you're online at the time and get you your interview. If you're not available don't worry. We'll contact you with a mailing that will instruct you to join a priority queue and you'll be seen to in short order.
For those of you that have applied prior to these changes don't worry. I am beating my staff senseless to ensure the backlog gets cleared quickly and that you'll get your interview.
Please note an important pre-requirement that we have started. You can find the details at "Step 3" on our "Applying to" wiki. You will need to have your Overview set to Uni standards and have Mumble downloaded and installed, set-up and ready to go. This will save you a lot of time and help you get started with us much easier.
We hope to see you soon! Marius Labo Director of Human Resources, EVE University |

We have managed to shrink the backlog in our Quick Queue by a couple of days and we of course are working on getting interviews done for those that are awaiting them.
The Personnel Officers are getting used to the new way of doing things.
If you have any questions as to how our Queue works you can check that out on the Queue FAQ wiki page.
We are working hard to both transition and get to your applications and interviews as quickly as we can.
In the mean time please enjoy the company in our public chat channel "E-UNI" and you can find all sorts of useful things on the EVE University wiki.

Please do not misinterpret this an attempt to hijack EvE University's own recruitment thread; RAEC does openly offer preferential treatment to any EvE Uni graduates who wish to join with us later, and I believe that many other companies do the same.
So even if your long-term goals do not lay with EvE University you should still join them anyway, as they are probably the best name that one can have on your r+¬sum+¬.

New to the game? Perhaps been around a bit but still feeling lost? Are you looking for a well-structured community to learn the basics in? Well perhaps EVE University is for you!
Some great news on our Recruiting front.
The new process we have implemented just over a month ago has brought down a large chunk of our backlog. We have a new batch of rookie Personnel Officers finishing their training so we have a fresh batch of staff to do interviews.
There has been a issue with the API Mask we require applicants to submit but you can create it manually until :CCP: looks at tweaking whatever they did to change pre-existing API Mask generation.
Again, for those applicants who follow our Applying to EVE University instuctions completely you have a much greater chance of getting called for an interview even if we haven't asked you to queue for an interview yet, what we like to call "Fast Track." Don't worry if you're not online when your completed questionnaire gets reviewed as we will let you know when to join our "Fast Track" queue option so that you'll have the highest priority.
For Unistas who have dropped corp for a short term and are returning within 30 days you will also join that same queue option (some of you will be familiar with it as the "War re-entry" queue option).
For Unistas who have been out-of-corp for more than 30 days you will need to complete the full questionnaire but you can automatically join the "Returning Member" queue option and I have made some cosmetic changes so that those interview types have priority over the regular and SPO level interviews, just after the "Fast Track" interviews. They always have, but they have been mixed in with the regular/SPO interviews and so they didn't always stand-out.
With some recent changes we need to update some of our wiki material so be patient while we undertake that.
Recruitment is always open! And yes, we do accept trial accounts. Marius Labo Director of Human Resources, EVE University |

I just left the UNI for a nullsec industry corp and overall my experience has good. I have learned a ton about the game, tons of information to absorb and different campuses to dabble in. Not very schedule friendly for US Central Timezone players but flexible on the weekends and always a full calendar. Whores in space have had the UNI constant war decced for about a month now so really cant use the trade hubs or home space at all unless you want to get one shot by T3 strategic cruisers. Other than that, pretty good experience and would recommend it for new characters. |

To give you all an update on how things are going in recruting for EVE University.
We are as popular as ever. There is currently an 8 day "backlog" of submitted questionnaires for us to review. What does this mean? Well, it simply means that the current date of submitted questionnaires is (at the time I post this) June 10th and that is 8 days ago.
How quickly can this "backlog" clear up? It just depends on how much work that our Personnel Officers are doing both individually and collectively. Our staff are all volunteers and they use their in-game time to do this work. Yes, we lose them to attrition, being away for some silly real-life stuff, and simply moving on. We do bring in new staff on a regular basis but that does take time to get them trained up. We're looking at bringing in a new crew right away.
The good news is that if you follow all of our directions found on our wiki page Applying to EVE University you stand a fair chance of being called for an interview prior to having to enter our Interview Queue. If you're not online or available at that time we'll send you information to join our Fast Track queue option.
Fast Track is the queue option we use for those with top priority for an interview to enter, or re-enter, EVE University.
Things that delay or slow things down and can add to our "backlog" are incomplete information or missing step from applying, being "afk" in the queue (we call for you and you're not paying attention in our public channel "E-UNI") and such. We have taken some steps to alleviate this in that we have pulled down what number you are in the queue. People would take that number and assume we won't call them, for example being number 12. That is an overall number and does not reflect the fact that you may actually be at the top of the Fast Track queue option, etc.
My goal is to see that questionnaires are both reviewed and that people are getting interviews within 48 to 72 hours. As much as I'd like to see that it depends on a number of things which are often beyond my control.
At this time you can expect it to be about a 10 day wait or more, unless you qualify for Fast Track and are online and we contact you prior to you having to queue up.
Recruitment is always open! Thanks for your patience. Marius Labo Director of Human Resources, EVE University |

I would like to join E-Uni but I have probably am not going to be able to use TeamSpeak alot, simply due to the fact that I'm on again off again alot with my child, family stuff, work etc.
Normally I have to have the sound down pretty low so I can hear toddler emergencies.
Can I still join up?
I'll join chat next time I have a chance, thanks!

We use Mumble rather than Teamspeak as voice comms. But yeah its fine if you have to have the sound down low, so as not to disturb those budding capsuleers :) Feel free to drop in an application, we're always recruiting. |

From the Eve University Declaration of Principles:
Quote:All capsuleers have an unrelenting desire for more; more strength, more space, more ISK, more power. Many will take from others; without hesitation or mercy, without compassion or regret. Every day new capsuleers are born. But New Eden is a harsh place, and many are unprepared. ... Here, gathered under a common cause, we agree to recognise that together, as a community, we can teach those new generations of capsuleers. Together, we can prepare them better than any guides or agents can. Together, we can give them the best start possible, without limiting their options. Together, we can instil in them the skills needed not only to survive, but to be successful. We do this not for power, or influence, or money. We do this because we too recognise that 'more' does not have to be the solitary goal. We do this because we are EVE University.

My seven months in the Uni were well-spent. Coming back to the game after a years-long hiatus, I didn't really remember much. In the Uni, I had the chance to shoot a lot of things: Pirates, Sleepers, Player pirates, people with suspect timers, and anyone in null who wasn't blue. I learned that, in EVE, my truest passion involves shooting other players and enjoying the cathartic glory of exploding internet spaceships. This led me to the life of piracy to which I now descend.
Thank you E-Uni! You rock. I will be happy to answer questions of anyone who'd like to know more about the Uni. It's a great place and if you're feeling in over your head, I can think of no better place to start your EVE career.

Eve Uni has made me the best pilot I can be in the four short months I've been playing Eve Online. The Uni is a top notch corp and I don't think I'll find any other corp in all of New Eden which is as professional, friendly, and educational as the uni. It takes some work to get in, but it is by far the most worthwhile time I've spent in Eve.
I learned more during the application process to join Eve University than I did my entire first two weeks of playing Eve. Eve University is ran better, and more efficiently than some actual real world corporations I've worked for. I'm sad to be leaving, but unfortunately I can't try Faction Warfare as a Uni member due to their neutrality. Join the Uni, you will not regret it! |

I spent about a year in E-Uni before moving on and I couldn't have done it without them. Great people, great organization. Their leadership, campuses, and all around great membership made EVE online the best gaming experience I have had to date, and I've played a lot of MMOs. Happy February! Are you a returning player after a long hiatus? Confused where all the Ladar sites went, or why your ships won't undock with red module slots?
Our public recruiting channel "E-UNI" is chock-a-block with veteran players looking to reminisce about days gone by, and reorient returning players to the new status quo of New Eden. If you were previously an E-Uni member, you may qualify for fast-track re-admission! It doesn't matter how many skill points you have, chances are you can teach others a thing or two as well!
Do not actively tank my patience. |

If you're interested in joining EVE University to learn a little about the game you may be interested to know what the application process involves. It may seem daunting when you first look at it, but here are the basic steps:
1) Check you don't have any standings towards the corps we use to provide jump clones for our members - 1/2 minutes max 2) Create an EVE University account so you can post on our forum, use our mumble server etc - 1/2 minutes max 3) Submit your API (its very easy, we'll talk you through the process) - 1/2 minutes max 4) Set up your overview - this is a great tip even if you're not planning to join EVE University. Having a proper overview set up will improve your gameplay enormously. I promise you it will be a great help - 15 minutes 5) Install mumble so you can talk to us - 2/3 minutes 6) Remove your CSPA charge so we can talk to you - 1/2 minutes max 7) Read our rules and WSOP so you know what we expect from you - 15 minutes 8) (Optional) Relocate your belongings if you want to - this depends on how much you have and how far you are moving it, but its entirely optional 9) Complete a short questionnaire telling us a little about you and what you are hoping to learn from us - 20/30 minutes
The entire process is set out step-by-step here: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Applying_to_EVE_University
So the whole application usually takes a little over one hour, and at the end of this you will have access to a whole load of resources, including mumble (which is where we hold our public classes also), our forum, our public chat channel and a fantastic overview, which in itself will really help you start to learn about EVE Online.
After you have submitted your application, wait for a mail from one of our friendly Personnel Officers, who will tell you if you missed anything and ask you to wait for an interview. We then as you to attend a short interview to answer any additional questions we have about you and to set up all your access if you are successful in your application.
Any time you have any questions our Personnel Officers are here to help. they are listed here: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Personnel_Department. Please give me (or indeed any of our POs) a shout if you need help with any of the steps and we'll do our best to help you out.

Recruitment remains open, as always!
The Queue Tool has recently undergone some renovations and so it has a new look.
We are getting on average between 20 and 25 full applications per day.
There is no need to apply to us in-game as we will ask you to do this when we interview you. Should you apply in game it is possible that it will be rejected, but we only do that to keep the Corp Recruitment UI clear to make our work easier. Don't panic, you've actually not been rejected.
You want to read and follow very carefully our instruction on our wiki for Applying to EVE University.
Please take your time and follow each step carefully. Rushing thing will only lead to delays to your application process.
It may appear that the recruitment process is slow. Currently it takes about 10 or 11 days to hear back from us initially (we are working hard to bring this backlog down) and then once you're able to join our queue for an interview it can still take a few days. All of our recruitment staff are volunteers and they give up their game time to do the job. It's also a time of year where many are finishing up real-life school, or going on vacation or holidays. And there is also the constant turn-over and training of new staff.
There is a lot you can do in the meantime. Hang out in our public help channel "E-UNI" (this is one of the default Help channels listed by CCP) and learn from our many guests and regulars. You can attend our public classes on our Public Mumble server or hang out in our Public Lounge on the regular Uni Mumble server. You can scan through our wiki. It is searchable and contains a lot of information, including recorded classes.
In the meantime, please KEEP CALM and CARRY ON WAITING... we promise to get to you in order ;)

Just some more updates.
The wait time has now dropped to about 6 or 7 days to hear from us after you apply. This has to do with a lot of hard work by the Personnel Officers, and there has been a lower average of applications per day (in the range of 10 to 15 per day).
If you do not wish your application to be delayed be sure that you follow all of the steps and instructions outlined on our wiki pages for Applying to EVE University.
The biggest factor in delays are either improper API`s submitted or APIs not submitted. You have to carefully follow the instructions found on Step 3 of the instructions. It`s a requirement that APIs in the mask we provide are supplied to us.
While you're waiting please join us in our public channel in game, "E-UNI" (you will find handy information in the channel's Message of the Day, or MOTD) where you can interact with our many guests and regulars. You won't find many actual Uni/Ivy members there, but there will be some, most importantly our recruitment staff. The guests and regulars have a wide variety of experience and are all very willing to help answer your game related questions. You can find this channel by clicking on the "Open channel window" from any chat box, and you can enter the name "E-UNI" (without the quotes) and press "JOIN" and you can also find it listed as one of the 6 default "Help" channels.
You're also welcome to join us on Mumble and even come into the Uni server where you can enter our Public Lounge and some on-demand rooms to chat with members and almuni, and our Public Mumble server where we have the vast majority of our classes. Details can be found in the MOTD of E-UNI chat channel.
Take the time you have to wait for your interview to be sure you've covered all the steps required to join EVE University, and to get yourself set-up and located to where you would like to be. Once you're in the Uni things can be a bit of challenge while we're at war so take advantage while you can, without worrying about wartargets. You can read up on what to expect while applying to us during war here at Applying During Wartime. Be sure to take the time to read through it and the links found within.
We've received a number of reports that the Overview download and import found on Step 4 is not working properly (and I have just verified this on an alt). For some reason it seems the Overview cannot be imported. This Overview also is not current for additions that occurred with the Kronos expansion (such as the Expedition Frigate).
There are known flaws with importing Overviews, primarily that certain settings for tabs and brackets, along with under the Appearances tab in the settings for the ordering of Colortags and Backgrounds (and you will want these to be accurate for your activities and participation in Uni fleets).
It is best (until things get sorted out further) that you go through and set up your Overview manually by following our guide, Overview Setup.
We hope to see you in Corp very soon! Marius Labo Director Emeritus |

On our Step 4 you have to click on the link in the page then you're directed to the page where the file is stored. You'll see a file at the top left called "EveUnivercityRet.xml" and this is what you right click on to then save. You'll then be able to import it as further instructed.
Again, there is a known "flaw" when it comes to importing an XML for the Overview and you can reference that at A Note on .xml Export File Requests found on our wiki page for our Overview Guide.
Should you choose to import the offered file on our Applying to EVE University you will still need to double check the import and sort out the Appearances tab within, for the proper set-up and ordering of the Colortags and Backgrounds. And for any Overview preset requiring Ships, you'll want to ensure that the new Expedition Frigate is checked as well (Filters / Types / Ship folder).

Eve university has been a perfect way for me to acclimate to Eve. They're very laid back, so you can move at your own pace. Not to mention there's something going on in almost every area of Eve so you can find what you're interested in and dive into that community. Well the wait times are down yet again! You're looking at about a 3 day wait prior to hearing from us. The number of applications per day are up somewhat but hopefully the hard working Personnel Officers can stay on top of this without letting the waiting grow into a longer backlog.
Be sure to read though our wiki page on Applying During Wartime and the links found within. There is a lot of key information there to prepare you for life in the Uni during war.
You can also ensure to minimize the amount of time you have to wait by doing a few simple things. First is to ensure that you go through our Applying to EVE University wiki pages step-by-step. Don't move on from one page to the next until you complete the directions on each. Rushing things won't get you in any quicker. As you're aware, we first review your application and then send you a mailing in game with further instructions including which Interview Queue option to choose. This takes a few days from the time you apply until the time your application is reviewed. Rushing the process will only lead to further delays.
The most common error seems to be not submitting a proper API to us. Please follow the instructions very carefully on Step 3 of our wiki instructions. It seems that many skip over this figuring to do this afterwards. We see many applications without an API provided and when we see that you automatically will receive a lower priority for an interview, and we mail you to correct the missing API. It must be of the proper mask ID and it must be set to "No Expiry." The link we provide is the correct Mask ID pre-filled (if you log into your CCP account first, otherwise you will get a generic API page, so just use the link once logged in) so it's important that you don't change the settings we provide, other than giving the API a name, and checking "No Expiry."
Remember, the application questionnaire is the most important part. Take the time to provide the necessary details and answer the questions as fully as possible.
During some recent "renovations" of the Queue Tool some older information ended up being displayed. Once you submit your questionnaire the window will seem to ask you to choose an interview type and join the queue. This information is obsolete and please don't join the queue until you get the mailing from a PO. We cover each application in the order we receive it.
There is no need to apply to us in game. When you get your interview the PO will instruct you to apply at the time you're successful in your interview. This is a game mechanic and with the number of applications we get we routinely clear out all the open applications in the Corporation > Recruitment UI. If you've applied there prematurely you will end up getting an automated "Rejection" notification in your corp notifications (not your inbox) followed by a mailing in your inbox giving you the information and directions in order to properly apply to us. You may receive this after you've applied properly. As this is only the game mechanic any rejection you receive from that system is not a true rejection (unless this occurs in the interview and you had applied in game). Unfortunately there was some recent "drama" occur as a result of an applicant reacting to the corp notification of their in-game application and they didn't take the time to read the mailing sent out to them by a PO.
In the meantime, hang out with us in our public help channel "E-UNI" in game. You'll find a lot of helpful guests, former members, friends of the Uni, fellow applicants, and the odd Uni member, and of course staff. You can also hang out with us in Mumble on our regular server in the Public Lounge, and of course in any of our public classes, which occur on our Public Mumble server. Please note that there are the two different servers.
As always, we hope to see you in Corp very soon!

We're down to a couple of days for wait times to hear back from us. As a result of all the hard work getting the review work caught up this means that there will be more applicants now awaiting an interview.
It may still take a few days in order for you to get your interview after hearing from us. In some cases it may take longer. Please keep in mind that all of our staff are hard working volunteers. It does take a fair chunk of game time of theirs to do the work so please make sure you are available when you log into the interview queue.
The current queue number that you see is just a relative position you are in compared to the others that are logged into the queue at that time. It does not reflect your interview priority, such as normally POs will handle Fast Track interviews over regular PO interviews, and SPOs may decide to take the first SPO case in the queue no matter what their position, even if there are Fast Track cases waiting. SPOs are more of a rare creature so they tend to look to those cases first.
In the meantime, take the opportunity to ready yourself for being a member of EVE University. Since we're at war you'll want to take the opportunity to get your stuff relocated to where you wish to base yourself from, and also to get jump clones set up.
We strongly recommend that you join Estel Arador Corp Services (EACS), a player corp that offers you standings with dozens of NPC corporations with hundreds and hundreds of stations available for you to install a jump clone at. They too, are war decced, so I personally recommend that you find the station you'd like to install a jump clone at prior to joining them, such as at Caldari Business Tribunal's station in Aldrat, and then if you want more jump clones fly to the other stations in a shuttle.
EACS will invite you in normally within 24 hours (be sure that if you have roles in a player corp that you drop those and allow 24 hours, or simply quit the corp to an NPC corp) and they will kick you out within a few days (so as to not mess up the standings they have which offer the jump clone availability).
You will need to train the skill Infomorph Psychology before you can install jump clones. This skill costs 1 million ISK from all NPC corp sellers on the Market.
The Uni does offer standings with two NPC corps for jump clones, but they are far out of the way and getting to them could be tricky while we're at war. And then from there you will want to move those clones.
For details on how this all works please see our wiki article on Jump Clones. You will find them invaluable for flexibilty to re-position yourself.
Again, we hope to see you

Good news! At this point you can expect to have your submitted applications as per the Applying to EVE University instructions reviewed and responded to within 24 hours.
Be sure that you also read through Applying During Wartime as there are some great tips on that page to better prepare yourself for wartime while with EVE University.
We currently have 600 open applications in our queue tool within the last 60 days. What that means is that some people have not bothered to respond to our review and mailing to them for their interview, and for the most part, just those awaiting an interview. You'll find currently there is a longer wait to get an interview since bringing down the backlog of submitted applications for review has more of you waiting to get your interview.
At least it's not like the old days. I had to wait 19 days in the queue for an interview when I joined, and that was below the average wait time
Please see the Message of the Day (MOTD) in our public help and recruitment channel, E-UNI for up-to-date information and handy links.
We hope to see you in Corp very soon!

Hiyas,
I originally started EVE with a trial back in 2007, but I didn't find it that interesting or addctive. Truth be told, I was so lost in the game, I didn't even finish tutorials. I did however, get helped by some people and made some friends who don't play anymore I guess. Anyhow.. I'm including an eveboard link of my character below, so people can actually see I'm still relatively a newbie.
Now, to my questions. I've joined Gallente Militia but every time I meet a hostile pilot, I get this.. "sugar rush / adrenaline thing" where my hands and arms just start shaking and I ussually die right after. Not very good at PvP, don't even know what role in a pvp battle I'd take - probably the turtle, hide till it's over, then gloat over the dead.
Alltogether I've played for about 3 months in my entire history so I'm unsure if EVE-Uni would even take me in to teach me the ropes. Or generally, some pointers would be appreciated. Looking at the EVE University website, I guess I'll go do some Career agent mission lines.

You guys still recruiting? I'm looking for a Corp that is fairly laid back. I don't do a whole lot of pvp but enjoy it. I'm just really scared about going broke so kinda wanna stay up and up for isk know what I'm saying. |

If you're new you should join EUNI. There's simply no better way to get acclimated to Eve, where you get a taste of everything and can then make an informed decision, all the while rubbing elbows with people who, in a few years, will be major players in all areas of the game. |

To anyone who is new to Eve or even has been in Eve for a while and still needs to learn (and who doesn't) the Uni is the place to be. This is my second stint in the Uni and I have learned and been guided through so much and by such helpful staff and Alumni that I cannot thank you all enough.
I have learned how to fleet/explore and survive in Null sec by some great ppl.
Thank you all once again and fly safe o7. |

How do I apply to EVE university? I have been trying for hours, but I just get sent in circles on their website. It tells me to sign in then it will direct me to the application, but the links keep sending me back to where I started. Any help please, I'm usually pretty good at figuring stuff out on my own, but this has got me very irritated... it's ridiculous, I think there might be something wrong with their website or something. |

I would thoroughly recommend life in the Uni to everyone.
The Amount of Helpful information I gathered simply from chatting to people was unbelievable. its definitely the go-to place for anyone wanting to start their life in New-Eden, without the help i recieved in the Uni i would have been clueless and moved on to another game.

E-UNI is a great place. After 4 month I feel quiet prepared for most things to come. Not a jack of all trades, no! But well, maybe I'll return to UNI one day...
I especially enjoyed the basic classes, first fleet experience, and the NullSec Campus. Fellow Unistas were all laid back and friendly. A reasonable leadership and some guys in the background who pull off an immense logistics job. This was propably the real eye-opener for me, just getting a glimpse on how to run things in EVE big scale.
Would fly with the Uni any time
