Ok, I finished my first group of missions from the Imperial Academy, and I would just like some direction as to where/what I should be doing. I enjoy combat greatly, and am just curious as to where I should go next. I'm open to any suggestion, and would just like to have more purpose. I understand it's about ISK min/maxing but where should I go to begin my "career". Thanks for any help :). |

All kinds fo stuff. You could run LVL 1 missions and work up to LVL 2's
Go try the Sisters of EVE epic arc.
Go find a noob friendly corp and try out some PVP

Thanks for your post bud. Is there a specific zone to start my mission running? |

Like Derath says, the universe is your oyster.
Finding a noob-friendly corp would be an excellent first step tho. A corp like that will have ppl who can teach you and, usually, group efforts where you get to try tougher stuff that you'd never (yet) be able to do on your own.
If you're initially interested in PvE stuff (missions, industry, etc) then I'd be remiss in not suggesting the first non-NPC corp i joined, as an option .... ADVNT
We can build and sell pretty much every ship. Check my bio for details. Our pirate epic arc completion packages really are very good: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=12973&find=unread |

No, but it's often easiest to start near where you did your initial training missions.
You can use the agent finder to find agents that you can access, and start using them. After getting yourself familiar with that you might go find sister alitura (Arnon) and start the sisters of eve epic arc. that will give you a fair bit of stuff and is set to be tough but doable for a beginner.

If you haven't already done so I suggest doing all the tutorial missions so you can learn the basics of all the various aspects of eve. Use the agent search feature to find your nearest tutorial agents. There are exploration, basic combat (pve training) advanced combat (basically pvp training) and industry tutorials.
As for what's next, as said it depends on what you want to do. Most people start climbing the high sec mission ladder though you certainly don't have to. You could go for high sec exploration or dive straight into something more pvp oriented such as FW. Which route you go will have an impact on what ships you train early on.
If you go for high sec missioning, you will basically power level yourself to a BC and lvl3's. Initially that BC will have very minimal skills and a very poorly skilled t1 fit. I recommend pausing at BC for several months to get t2 gear and your support skills in order before moving on to BS's. Moving too quickly to a BS and lvl4's will cause a lot of pain, I made that mistake when I first started.
Alternatively if you go for FW or exploration, you'll stick with smaller ships which can be mastered much faster than larger ones. So you'll do a full t2 fit and t2 hulls pretty much immediately. Namely assault ships and stealth bombers. FW missions are designed to be run by stealth bombers and AF's make excellent little high sec exploration ships.
For pvp, it's better to have a small ship well skilled than a big ship poorly skilled, so once again you'll be using frigate hulls for your first few months. If you can't fully t2 fit it, you can't fly it in pvp effectively. Fortunately fully t2 fitting a t1 frigate only takes around a week from character creation, so not a huge wait if you're itching for some action. |

I suggest you work for a navy. They have good LP rewards. Any factions navy will do.
Take only missions that are against pirate factions.
Use a destroyer and run L1's until you open up L2's with them. |
