What kind of sound hardware are you using? The onboard sound? Try a sound card like Creative X-Fi
Yea all testing was with Nvidia 780i's onboard sound, as an after thought I put it though the paces with a X-Fi Gamer installed, it had Zero effect on FPS & Lag.
Sound quality might be better with it dunno. And to be honest I'm not one of those people that could tell you if the 32nd eq switch was up or down 2 points.
50 slot vent server, never fails, no problems, so its not like i'm going to switch from something that always has worked, to EvE Voice. Just wanted to put to test the standard issue denial "Our logs show no such event" Or "Your hardware may be the problem"
I threw some of the baddest equipment currently out at it, and it came up lacking. And on a side note, Dual SLI (GTS 92's)does not really do much for EvE & by the time I managed to barrow 2 GTX's I had to give back the first GTX so I was not able to find out about TRI-SLI. Please test and fix the incompatibility between Kaspersky Anti Virus and Eve Voice. Search for Kaspersky in the forums and you'll find plenty of references, but basically if Eve Voice is enabled, you can't select a character and enter the game unless you completely exit Kaspersky first.
Thanks.

my wishes?
1) separate the client and integrate it maybe as a plugin/add on. 2) let the user the choice to install/not install.
i remember that with introduction of eve voice was a degrading in performance of the client. maybe this will solve this some problems.

What Chriba said, "Voice reconition". I want to say, "Alpha Strike!" and have all my missiles launch at once. I want to say, "Turn tail and run like a scared rabbit!" and have my ship go to the nearest gate. lol
In general, I want more talking and less clicking.
Thanks for the bandwidth

Stand alone client!
I know this is important to many of you so I'll say again what I said in the lecture on FanFest: A stand alone client is on our roadmap for EVE Voice. There is no particular timeframe for it and we haven't gone into any design work for it, but it's something we realize many people want and we of course want to give our players what they want :)
No particular timeframe?
People have been saying they want it stand alone since you first came out and mentioned the eve voice concept and you STILL tinker with the integrated deadend implementation?
Who can argue with that?! Shees!

I'd be pretty happy if the push-to-talk keys for mouse buttons other than middle-mouse worked. My mouse has tons of buttons and they work in Vent and TS, but not in Eve-voice. :(

Sounds like more of a problem with "kaspersky" (whatever the hell that is).

How ever much I appreciate the attempt at providing voice comms. It has caused nothing but problems on my system.
EVE voice on: constant crashing.
EVE voice off: stable.
EVE voice off, Ventrillo on: stable.

This is fixed by updating Kaspersky to the latest version.

Edited by: Alqualonde on 01/02/2008 21:13:41 Edited by: Alqualonde on 01/02/2008 21:11:27 Everyone has said standalone client. My EVE client actually is pretty stable (unless I'm using the Mac version ) so I haven't been screwed over by this... yet.
Another big problem is it just doesn't work enough. It's been used a lot on our corp ops lately, due to a number of factors involving a small Vent server and inconvenient TS server (for newbies), and there is a pretty constant 10% who just can't get it to work.
As far as I can tell, these issues stem from the following:
- USB sound devices - Mac/Linux client (but seriously, those have so many other problems besides EV) - random issues that are probably user sucks at PCs issues more than anything - Inability to bind push-to-talk key
About that last. When I can go in the prefs, very clearly set my talk key to left alt, and then press said key and EVE voice doesn't activate at all there is something wrong. I have two computers, both lovingly-maintained, on which this is an issue. The only button I can ever bind that ever eventually works after client reboots is middle mouse, and even that seems to have some lag.
This is absurd. Not being able to use extra buttons on my Logitech mouse is absurd. A push-to-talk key is basic to voice comm.
