Seeking a little insight into what's hot and what's not in w-space gangs these days. Could someone bring me up to speed? (This is about pvp, don't bored me with the sleeper shooting stuff)

Armor:
T3s - blaster proteus, arty or auto lokis, pulse legions and even armor ECM tengus are startign to become popular. Bhaalgorns for taking down capitals and guardians or triage carrier for reps.
Shield:
RR tengus are FOTM everywhere in wormholes. With a few webbing lokis thrown in. I've seen Shield bhaalgorns provide the neuting in pulsars too. Aside from the tengus repping some fleets roll with some basilisks as RR tengus are very cap dependent and any neutign will pose a large threat.
Not very many people in Wormholes use "nano fleets" as no aggression mechanics means you can instantly jump back through a wormhole and so fighting often occurs directly on WHs.
HICs for bubbles. Nobody uses Dics as they are too fragile and once you die you are back in HS.
Command ship are used to taste. |

Adhocracy ran gallente killdozer shield fleets; shield astartes, etc. Very brutal, and that was pre-buff.
Nullsec nano doctrines don't work too well. Aside from fights occurring at 5-20km range on a wormhole, if you have to drop in amongst Sleepers, you will get vaped instantly in a Dram, Cyna, etc (subject to numbers and who the sleepers target). If you aren't prepared to drop in amongst sleepers, you're a sissy and should go back to k-space. Add to this most nano ships lack the DPS to drop enemies quickly, you spend a lot of time zooming about and achieve nothing. Then doubletap yourself and die.
HAM legion is very popular for armour fleets. Armour fleets are very popular - moreso than nullsec where their maneuverability is a hindrance. Now they've fixed the shield drop on jump in, I suspect shield fleets will become more popular once people do the maths on it.
Tier 3 BC's...well, you'll see gank Talos and blaster Nagas, occasional pulse Oracles for ganking. Very few Tornados - because alphafleet is a fail doctrine in w-space. You (almost) never get the numbers needed to make alpha doctrine work, and you can't get to range fast enough and survive the DPS with these paper-thin gunboats.
You will also see a lot more hyperions, domis and typhoons washing about w-space than nullsec, where their close-range DPS is king. Maelstroms are somewhat less popular, again because they are alphafleet ships, and active tanking will get you killed in w-space PVP. I think the Rokh is going to be stepping up to popularity with the hybrid buff and shield leadership bonus buff. The skilful employer of men will employ the wise man, the brave man, the covetous man, and the stupid man. Sun Tzu @trinketsfriend on twatter

You'll also find that system residents who are well-organised commonly have at least one T2-ganglinked booster alt in Tengu/Loki/Legion sitting at a POS running up to 6 links. The strategic advantage in terms of pure ehp, manoeuvrability and long points from this cannot be understated. The box said "Requires Windows-á2000 or better", so I installed Linux. |

You will find that all the large WH powers will use basically the same short range, high DPS armour T3 fleets supported by Guardians or a triage Archon and Bhaalgorns with a Damnation running boosts and a Devoter or 2 for bubbles.
CCRES was the first group to start flying around in T3s and Guardians way back when in their prime. They were shortly followed by AHARM and RnK, with both of these adding the now crucial Bhaalgorns to their fleets.
In more recent time, this fleet setup is flown by pretty much everyone who has the skills and ISK base to be able to. These groups include NorCorp, Adhocracy, Narhwals and Exhale.
There are groups that fly Tengu heavy shield fleets with Basi support. They mainly include pretty much all Russians in WHs and all the carebears who live in Pulsars. While these fleets do work, they lack the ewar/tackle capabilities or armour fleets and won't hold up in an even numbers fight. They also don't hold up against sleepers nearly as well as the armour T3s due to larger sigs and active hardeners which is an issue if you're jumping people in a site.
Longer range battleships do have a useful role in home WH defence but their mass makes them unsuitable for WH roaming PVP.

Refer to a few RnK and AHARM vids. Bhaalgorns with a full rack of neuts to cap out triage carriers and more triage carriers to feed the Bhaalgorns. Spider Tank T3's seem to be very trendy as well (Tengu shield transfer amp is amazing for this). Loki/Proteus fleets have been seing alot of love recently, especially since the hybrid buff. It's like flying a Huginn and a Lachesis...except 500% better :) I have schemed too long to be supplanted by dead gods. If I cannot have this world, no one can. |

as far as ive seen only some (all) russian alliances fly RR tengu's in pvp setup. nearly all the other rich factions fly t3/guard/bhaal.
anyone telling you there are other battleships are lying. theyre too big, too heavy and dont do enough dps to warrant that amount of mass smashed through your nice pretty wormhole.
obviously pulsars are a bit nasty. but the idea is largely the same. any pvp ship in wh space has to be as light as possible with the maximum amount of role accomplishment. T3 can do over 1k dps on armor, on shield you got sleipnirs for those kinda numbers. tengu's can have nice dps with insane tanks. bhaals just neut like nothing, which is why you'll see them a lot, while, for instance, machariels are rather rare. though their dps is great, its nowhere good enough to allow that mass |
