Originally by: Pottsey Has hardware sound been fixed, so its actually works in Vista? CCP broke this months back itÆs about time you fixed it. We want hardware sound back.
Why upgrade the sound engine then limit us to software sound?
Unless they've been busy adding support for OpenAL then, no, the hardware sound will not be working in Vista.
It was Microsoft that broke it by removing DirectSound support in Vista.

I am reading the Trinity 1.0.1 patch notes and it says the Corp evemail is changed, "Corporation mails are no longer sent to all members with a title"
How will Corp evemails work now? Who will get the Corp evemail?...everyone?...nobody?
I am not mad but I would like to know what is going on with the Corp evemail change. If anyone knows anything please let me know.

Note: I am currently not in Rhombus Enterprises,...still enjoying my vacation :)
This is a fix for Evemails about Office bills and such getting to everyone who have a titile, instead to those with the relevant roles.
The corp mail will continute to function as before.

I wish you would put a message in game or on the launcher somewhere a day or two before you patch the servers. It get's really annoying when you miss the news cause you dont look at the website all the time and dont set a skill to go while the server is down.

It's been up for 2-3 days on the character selection screen. Take 5 seconds to scan the headlines before you log in and you will be much more in the loop.

Another hour. Damn, should have slept in now.
I guess a few more levels on F.E.A.R. should not hurt.
What are the rest of you doing during this slow update?

So can we count on the game actually coming back at 16:00 GMT, or are we going to see the time change again after waiting for it? I understand that things don't always go as planned and you needed a little more time, but waiting until 15:00 to change the message to 16:00 was lame as hell.

I tend to not read the "headlines" either. If they want to put real information I need to know in there, they need to take out the ******** storyline crap that nobody wants to read. I knew about this mess from corp chat, but in this guy's defense, the daily server downtime message should have said the server would be down for several hours. It said 1 hour, just like always.

We are investigating a potential static data issue thus delaying Tranquility's return to service. In the interim, the Patch Notes have been updated with two exploit fix items and Known Issues have been reduced slightly. I will continue to provide updates where possible.

The thing is, skills are the most vital thing about this game and the thing which stops running when you stop paying. If the server is going to be down for longer than expected it should be made VERY clear that it is going down. Not just a message in the news thing on login which I rarely read cause a) it is full of useless, meningless information most of the time unless you are a roleplayer and b) I normally just click my character straight away cause I wanna log in and play not read through pointless news items to find the one which is absolutely vital to my skills getting done.
It is not much to ask to be slightly better informed when this is going to happen imo.

ôIt was Microsoft that broke it by removing DirectSound support in Vista.ö No it was CCP. Blaming Microsoft is just the lazy and easy solution.
All my other directsound games work in Vista via OpenAL and Eve did its self for over 6 months. CCP decided to announced a new sound engine thatÆs better then the old one and at the same time stopped hardware sound. Its wrong to announced a giant leap forward while your really making a giant step backwards.
It was CCP that stopped DirectSound in Vista working not Microsoft. CCP stopped us using directsound via OpenAL not Microsoft. Why blame Microsoft?
WhatÆs really irritating is itÆs a simple fix for CCP to do. They could let us use OpenAL again which is 10mins worth of work if that. All they need to do is white list 2 files which they put a ban on for no apparent reason. If there was a reason to ban useing OpenAL for hardware sound can they give it?

No.. Microsoft is broke. Any OS that demands the use of an anti-virus, anti-spam, etc... Just to be able to browse the web in some safety if broken. Not to mention the registry which is defective by design and is the largest single point of failure in any modern operating system. It has flaws in it that have existed since Windows 3.11 that haven't been addressed or repaired. It is a resource hog extroidinaire. Windows also has some of the WORST memory management known to man. So please before you go blaming CCP for sound problems take a good hard look at the broken OS and tools they chose to use and work with... i.e. Microsoft.

Oh come mon, give me a break - this is bull****! If you're too lazy to read 2-5 damn headlines then you don't deserve better. Damn, how I hate people whining about each and every little **** just because they're too ignorant and/or lazy to read up on stuff.
