Hi.
The patch that is currently being deployed will address the stability of the Mac client. I would like to gather your post-patch Mac experience in this thread. I would like to know if you crash more often now, if you are crashing less often or if you are no longer crashing at all. In short, did this patch improve the stability of your client?

So far so good. The patch system worked like a charm and I made 9 jumps and played for an hour without crashing.

Edited by: Jack Reznor on 18/12/2007 19:36:58 Been playing for 2 hours, done 20+ jumps, mined rest of time, all done in highest resolution. Only crashed once, big improvement! Cheers guys. Usually i would have crashed 2 or 3 times under these circumstances, in one resolution lower. BTW, the start-up screen not resetting to 800x600 is great.

From what I've noticed: Crashing far more often, 2 crashes while docked in 15 minutes. Client just drops, no crash report, nothing weird in logs.
EVE Voice "works", in the sense that people can hear what I say, but all incoming audio sounds like it was merged with a helicopter.

Hi there,
I have one that I cant find anywhere else.
Since the 1.01 patch, running Eve on my iMac, I cannot get the market up. It states "Market is not available. Please try again later"
So I logged in on a Vista Laptop, but it works fine there. !
Anyone else on a Mac where market is not working?

I haven't had much luck with post patch yet. I got a nice error message "You can't open the application "EVE Online" because it is not supported on this architecture."
Show package contents reveals only the version.plist and the Resources/transgaming folders are left. I guess its better than deleting boot.ini though. Time to reinstall Eve.

Edited by: pressurewave on 19/12/2007 00:38:37 Still the wackiness on my end - t3 at work, client jumps right up and gets on with business. At home on cable, client takes (on average) 5 minutes to load. A bit ago when I got it loaded the clock sped up to ridiculous speed, and then when I undocked, crashed.
Still no keyboard input while at home (have to enter u/n and p/w with copy/paste from text doc), and also, a new fun issue has cropped up - the client switching screen resolutions. After setting it to 1024, it switched back to 1440 between load menus.
Largest Issue: Playability difference between different internet connections. I measured at 2532.6 kbps on cnet's site and pulled down Download Speed: 6562 kbps (820.3 KB/sec transfer rate), Upload Speed: 486 kbps (60.8 KB/sec transfer rate) from speakeasy, which all seems in order for a cable connection. Anyway, the previous client was working nicely at home and work.
2nd: lack of keyboard input is a major bummer, it prevents realistic debugging attempts
3rd: Load time of client - waiting at a black screen for 3-5 minutes for each load (especially amidst a plague of crashiness) is disheartening.
Pertinent Specs:
Model Name:MacBook Pro 15" Model Identifier:MacBookPro2,2 Processor Name:Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Speed:2.33 GHz Number Of Processors:1 Total Number Of Cores:2 L2 Cache:4 MB Memory:2 GB Bus Speed:667 MHz Boot ROM Version:MBP22.00A5.B07
Edit note: I'm bummed, sure, but I just wanted to add it's good to know you guys are actively engaged in fixing this issue! Keep it up, folks!

I crashed once all night (~3.5 hours of play). It happened while trying to load an agent portrait. I've noticed that behavior with portraits before. On the up side, I was able to visit a system with 170+ with no crashes. That's definitely an improvement.
The big issue that remains for me is that Voice still will not work. I'm getting the error about lacking a configured gateway. My machine's network settings are correct, as are my basestation's network settings. I've checked both firewalls (machine and basestation) multiple times. I can use other VOIP apps (with very good quality sound). I can't see how this is anything but a problem with the client. I submitted a bug report about the same thing (before today's patch) but it was closed and I was told to open a tech support petition. I did so and received a canned reply about the knowledgebase and checking firewalls and so on. I'm at a loss, here.
I'm running 10.5.1.

Just wanting to add my bit. I played fine for 3.5 hours earlier, jumped to scolluzer, and then bam! Crash to desktop, no error nothing. After that, I would crash within a minute of starting the game, for a total of 6 crashes in about 10 mins. Jumped to another system, same deal. Sometimes it crashes instantly when I move my mouse to the left of the screen, or maybe it's my imagination. Shocker.

Edited by: Pirado IV on 19/12/2007 02:50:55 I've been playing for 3 or 4 hours without a crash, then, I've received an EVE Mail and now I can't play... the game crashes after 1-2 min, always... I'm not opening new windows, I'm not undocking, I'm not closing windows... I just move the mouse around the screen and it crashes.
I tried to deactivate the sound, but it stills crashing. How can I see the crash log?.
I have a 17'' iMac, ATI X1600 and an Intel Soundcard.
Anyway, thanks for support Mac & Linux
Edited: I'm crashing too in the login window :/

Pirado, Look under Applications/Utilities/Console It's not really a console, but a log reader app for the system. It supports spotlight and you can search for EVE or any other relevant info.

Ok, I tried in a Microsoft Windows way... I restarted my user session (not the OS) and now it works again, so I think there was a zombie process walking around when I get the first crash of the day.
Anyone can try if a killall -9 wineserver && killall -9 cider after a crash helps to get the game stable for a while again?
Thanks Nanvel for the console x)

Patching worked without any issues, and the updated client runs without any problems.
Have been playing 2+ hours, 30+ jumps through busy systems (Perimeter and Jita) with no glitches. (though, stability has never been an issue on my Macbook Pro even before the patch)
Thanks for the update, and keep up the good work!

Another update from me... since my last post, I have crashed more than 10 times, without getting even half a minute of game time in each time. Game is now unplayable, as opposed to a crash every 30min to 2hours before patch.

Had a single freeze when engaging seamless map view (solarsystem mode) which had to be resolved by force-quitting, other than that, I had zero crashes since patch, and a lot more speed (FPS / login). Very big improvement. _________________ I design icons.

Played a LOT today, without a doubt too much. We capped the night with rescuing a friend's wreck 5 minutes before shutdown at 3 a.m.!
I had one session of cascading crashes... Had to reboot the machine since after the first crash the client was unplayable (crash within 1 minute of restarting the client).
Overall very few crash, much better. But that's only day 1.

Ayr Chron, i'm sure they're working hard to fix the crashes and I really feel the client is more stable now, so, just try helping sending your crash reports or just cancel your accounts, but don't create a bad feeling of the game... all apps in the world have more or less bugs, the difference is they're working quickly to fix it.

I was hopeful at first. I went 90 minute without a crash. Then they started again. A series of crashes , does not seem any better at all. Also I noticed more issues with resizing windows. Unable to shrink windows past a certain size. Oh well.... nice try I suppose.

Yeah, it makes it more difficult in lowsec because if I try to pull up info about those in Local, there's about a 1-in-3 chance the client will crash. I wind up going without the extra intel.

Windows have a fixed size since the patch. A very inconsistent min. width I must say. CCP if you really need to give windows a fixed width, make them all the same, please. Just looks fugly and is annoying when you try to size down a window that can't go any smaller but another can.
About the rest... its WaY! more stable then before. No more warpgate crashes, no more stuck bewteen warpgates, no more in station crashes, and I played near 8 hours today.
Doesn't mean it doesn't crash. It crashes now randomly when you try to get info on a player or agent. No warnings just straight out of Eve to desktop crash, with no logs...... But overall I'm very happy with the state Eve's now in. Thumbs up from me!

Seems a little more stable, but I still suffer from the crashing issue and the "my console log fills up with errors about sound buffer wraparound at many messages per second issue".
I also still have the resolution and z-buffer related image garbling in the map browser and fitting screens; I'm going to get details on which resolution/z-buffer/pixel formats work and which ones have problems to update my bug report.
I've not tried voice though, so I can't speak on that one.

I have only had an occasional freeze (2 times now) when in very, very busy grids, but they don't seem to be reproduceable. I am playing on my Macbook Pro Core 1 Duo as usual.
