On the other hand, and corect me if i'm wrong, why do you care what others think of you from outside the alliance? I mean it could be argued that the resentment towards goons is a reflection of the alliances success. A complement conveyed through jealousy.
I used to be in ISS and have had many fights with Goons and friends. My personal stance is that its only a game. Never taken anything from the fights personally, nor do i hold anything against Goonswarm. But I know where you are coming from, when ISS was an important alliance we would get treated as one entity.
Exactly! I think you understand this situation on a very personal level.
I know that not all of my brethren see things the way I do. It can be hard to get ten people to agree on anything, how can you expect several thousand to? In the same vein, how can you paint all of those thousands with the same brush? You were not one entity as ISS. I am not a singular entity as GoonFleet.
The individuality of the players is super important to emphasize, because if we acknowledge each other's 'agency' (meaning our capacity to make choices and take action) then we don't have to be bound by whatever meaning other people have imbued our corporation name with.
You asked me a really insightful question: why do I care what others think of me outside of my alliance?
I really do care, because I see each player as an individual and not as a faceless feature of some giant corporation. We may in fact belong to very large organizations, but we can relate to each other as individuals. I'm not the best pew-pew pilot out there by a long shot, but I do have a keen interest in doing what I can to affect the EVE galaxy for the better. Maybe GoonSwarm seems a really strange place to start, but I've already explained my reasons for being a part of this corporation above. And I have to seriously consider- if I was a member of another corporation, would my message have as great of a chance of reaching people?
We all have our fields of interest, which is what makes EVE so great- that we can act them out in this game, in this community. We can build, research, fight, be diplomats, pirates, merchants in and out of the game. Me? Well, I don't have any kind of official career, but I do have a sincere desire to just talk openly with members of other alliances. We're all in this galaxy together, as the creators of EVE like to remind us- there's no escaping to other servers. So I figure why not make this the best possible galaxy we can?

So what the OP is saying is that there is dissention within Goons, with some 'good goons' and some 'bad goons'.
Therefore we can look forward to a nice Civil War when Bob is finally dead? All the smack-talking 'let's destroy EVE' bad goons on one side and the 'respect where its merited' good goons on the other side?

There is a tight knit of people who beleive that even in game people should behave like they do in real life. Most of them play in ANZAC squad and some in Eurosquad.
We treat others like we want others to treat us: with respect and honour.
My brother in arms Althair Erin has spoken in this thread and I agree with most of what he said.
Just so you know, not all Goons are just goons, some Goons fly with honour.
We will try our best to protect innocent pilots from misbehaviour from our lost brothers.
It's the best we can do while being in Goonfleet.

To be honest my times of fighting with or against Goons are probably behind me as I am now pretty much an empire based pvper (wannabe lol) as I have had more than my fill of dam pos wars!!

Except that I'm not Hispanic by choice nor can I control the actions of other Hispanics around the world. I can, however, have influence on the behavior of close associations. And I also have a choice on those people I associate with. You, on the other hand, are in Goonswarm out of your own will (I assume). You are part of an association that encourages (by your leaders' own admission) some of the worst behaviors I've ever seen performed by a group of people over the internet.
During the Eve meeting (I forget in what country) a few weeks ago there was explicit material and pictures (including **** and religious insults) being placed in the forums by your group. They broke rules and laughed. CAOD seemed to be run by a bunch of 9-year-old giggling kids. The overwhelming mayority from Goonswarm. I'm sure my post will now be the source of giggling and insults by your very own group. Expect it. See it. And then I'd like to see what you're willing to do about this group that you relate to. After all, you are part of them.
