Not being able to use a faction's agents because you have bad standings is the suck. I understand the whole consequences of your actions RP side of it, but, well, I want to run pirate agents but my pirate standings stink.
I propose this solution: For level 1 agents, you can bribe them. This way I can start to grind my way back into Lev 2's and higher.. I dunno, make the bribe steep enough to deter the wannabee's and steep enough to force peps to incur a penalty for having the low standing, i dunno 20 mil isk?
I do not propose that L3 and L4 agents can be bribed, just some lower down terd whom people can use to at least get started on grinding their way back up in standings.
well, please add your thoughts. |

I do not know for certain myself, but a friend of mine told me this was once in the game and then removed.
While I too desire an easier way to get pirate standings, I think it is appropriate how difficult it is to acquire depending on how negative you are, considering the power of their respective ships and equipment. ______

You can bribe them. Give them the "tags" from dead pirates and your standings increase. Tags can be hard to find and expensive tho. (You want Admiral level tags if you can get them). Hello |

Not to be a Pedant, but isn't this what the "criminal connections" social skill is for? It increases your standings with criminal organizations and allows you to start level 1 missions with them.
Of course, if you already HAVE this skill at 5 and STILL have crappy standings with them, well...

Yes, Criminal Connections and Diplomacy help out greatly and usually allow you access to basic agents. However, if your Faction standing is -5 or worse still with those skills factored, you cannot run for the faction. Derived standings with pirate factions are also a very big pain to acquire if you cannot run for their allies. ______

Wouldn't it be possible to have another character / alt run missions in a fleet and share corp standing gains?

This is a great way to get corp standing up, unfortunately it will have no effect on faction standing. And before you ask, storyline missions cannot be gang completed.

Bribing would actually be nice.
But in the meantime, can you really not do anything for any corps with positive standing with them? Like for example, Serpentis have positive standing with the Syndicate.
Of course, doing missions in Syndicate is a totally different story.

I can do this? How? Is it via starting a conversation? Thanks!
I still like the idea of being able to bribe an L1 agent. Those agents are craptacular anyways, and being able to bribe them would be realistic and fun!
You should be able to bribe for LP's! eh eh?! |

It was but agents were different. The agents had location services and sec status repair services. You can imagine why they were removed.
You could wander into Yulia (Jita of old) tank Concord murder noobs and bears for a couple of hours and then go bribe then agent to repair the sec loss.
The days of proper high sec pirates.

What happens if you learn the social skills? Do they bring you high enough to work with low level 1 agents? ________________________

ok, so we agree, we should be able to bribe L1 agents to be able to at least begin the long grind to rep our standings.
social skills and connections do not boost you enough. you can have those trained and by the time you've ran several L4 missions, you're standings are such that you cant run L1 -18's.

Right. So if you have say -3 with Amarr faction and have a friend run missions & share standings to a specific Amarr corp until you are +1 with that corp, you still won't be able to run missions with any of that corp's agents? Since your faction is too low.
So that still leaves a few ways to repair your faction standing?
Find a faction that you can run missions for that have +derived standings to the faction you want to repair, and run a lot of storylines for them?
Find a faction that you can run missions for that have -derived standings to who you want to repair, and intentionally fail their storylines?
