Hello!
as you might know, the bounty system is kinda easy to exploit at the moment. just get yourself killed by your alt and everything is happy sunshine.
so, what if, you would set a bounty on the pirates ship instead of the pod.
no one would destroey a ship worth 60 mil to get an bounty of 10 mil.
in adition, ships with a bounty on it should be worth less on the market AND should get less insurance payout.

i have seen a few bountys worth 1 billion isk, i dont know if thats real plyers or ones added by Devs just so you can get a 1bill reward, but as you say too easy to pm them and say ill kill you for a 50/50 or 20/80 split or use a ault/friend to kill you for it.

It could still be exploited, thanks to insurance. Strip the mods off your ship, make sure the insurance is paid up, and 'splode it. Payday. ------------------------------- The opinions reflected in this post DO reflect the opinions of my corp...of one guy and a bunch of alts. |

I've heard this issue brought up dozens of times and thus forgotten dozens of times too... But this time after reading the suggestion, I kind of had an idea.
Put the bounty on the guy, but the amount of bounty cancels out an equal amount of his insurance also.
Like if Bad Person A had a million in bounties, and two million insurance, he'd lose a million in insurance when the bounty was paid out.
But that just gives the problem of him hopping in a shuttle while his friend pops him.
What if the full bounty amount was subtracted from the Bad Person A's wallet when they got podded?
That would give economic might too much leverage. Super rich people could afford to put MASSIVE bounties on someone, completely raping their wallet when they got blown up.
Anyone have an idea on how this could be altered to work?
Do the right thing. Don't leave shuttles in space. |

The really big bountys are placed by friends and folks placing a bounty on themselves.
Its an epeen thing.
I've been 3rd most wanted in Eve (no joke, but my friends thought it was funny as hell....(and it was sort of funny.....))
Play nice while you butcher each other.

The bounty system is a joke as its meant to be i think They dont seem to have any plans on revamping it what with such critical plans of ambulation in the works linkage |

In the real world bounties would be paid for people to disappear. In EVE, pilots don't disappear, they just wake up in a cloning vat.
Ship insuring and cloning means you can't be hurt financially nor SP wise. If you can't lose anything, no one will pay for you to die - especially if the target can even benefit from his own death.
Losing ship equipment and implants might hurt, but what are the odds that the target would have ludicrously expensive equipment and/or implants, especially if he or she knows there is a price on his head?
Under those conditions it's a zero sum game where the bounty contractor allways loses.

Theres been solutions talked about on the forums for years, CCP dont seem to bothered to find a solution, least not any time soon, but when they want to they have more than enough ideas to choose from.

I'd be happy to hear out those suggestions, since i'm mostly into trade and don't like to get my hands dirty. I'd rather work in the background and pull the strings - which is pretty hard if the bounty system isn't working as the devs might have wanted.
I'd expect a solution would push the game towards more hardcore PvP, a world with real risks and potentially big setbacks. Of course anyone with half of a carebear mind would cancel subscription after that. I personally wouldn't mind since if you can't lose anything, if there isn't a risk, where is the joy of winning then? Personally i've got bigger rushes from running blockades with 25 mil cargo in my Badger II than in any pc game before ever.
Solving the bounty problem would bring in more depth into the game than just proper Bounty hunter career for players. It would allow for more deep and intrigue cloak and dagger scheming.
