/me is good at Caldari, little less good at Gallente and really bad at amarr... so my plan is to try and get excellent with minmatar.
So the big question is what makes a pilot good at flying the minmatar ships and use projectile guns effectively. Next to the tank and the dmg rises the question of what EWAR is best suited for minmatar?
My plan is to use Minmatar ships in PvP, but I also like to use them for lvl4 missions. But if advice is solely focused on PvP I'm 100% fine with it.
One more thing... plz be constructive, I know minmatar has their downsides ;)

lv 4 missions are trivially easy in a tempest and shouldn't include any ewar at all (use drones to kill frigates, no need for web, use cap rechargers instead)
for pvp though, minmatar still don't really use much ewar other than web. There isn't a trademark minmatar ewar.. I tend to use defensive ewar instead, eccm/web/nos.
Overall we just don't get many mid slots, in pvp you need at least ab/mwd, web, scram, booster so thats 4 taken up.. I keep the last for eccm if i can fit it, nothings worse than not being able to target at all. _______________________________________________ Minmatar will always go faster than you, get over it. |

Trademark Minnie EWAR - web. See: Huginn/Rapier.
Minnie are the MOST skill intensive race. They take good gunnery, missile, shield, armor speed, drones and just about every other skill, depending on what ship you fly.

Actualy, from all accounts, I believe the Amarr are the most skill intensive race to play, Minmatar are next. Caldari is Eve on easy while Amarr is Eve on hard.

Amarr? Kay.
For minmatar training:
Choose your ship an fitting before you go for a trainingplan. If you are good with missiles allready and want to run mission you can also go for a phoon and stick to lower Q / L4 for the start. For PvP: Same. Choose a ship and then search for a fitting and then search the skills you need because if you just say: I need all skills for up to T2 cruisers for minmatar you have to learn: missiles (hvy or atleast assault T2), gunnery, navigation, drones, armor- and shieldtank because every ship is fitted with different tanks and weapons. Capacitorskills and so on not to be mentioned because i hope you have them allready when planning to crosstrain.

thx for the advice so far. Since I have been training for Caldari and also quite a lot for Gallente, my armor and shield skills are more than adequate to be able to cover that part. But with Caldari the missiles did allt he work and I admit, they are very easy to use. When I started on Gallente I started to max out drone skills, but lacked a bit on blasters and rails.
Now with minmatar, my skills I'm training are mostely focused on gunnery. And if webbies are the only Minni form of EWAR, I might as well, stick to maxing them gunnery skills out.
I'm using a phoon for PvP now and I must say, I like it. Working towards T2 large guns now and after that towards T2 ships.

The Minmatar EWAR device is a target painter. The Vigil, Bellicose, Huginn, Rapier, and Hyena get target painter bonuses. The Vigil's bonus is 5% per frigate level; most of the others are 7.5%. If you want to fly one of these ships, fit a painter and train Target Painting and Signature Focusing.
These ships probably aren't the ones to use for a level 4, though, so you might be better off using a BS and whatever EWAR you feel like fitting. Recon ships might work for you: Huginn and Rapier both have 6 mid slots.
