I decided to stay home from work today, got into a decent sized fleet gang and fight. i saw 2 of the appearent 100+ hostiles. Not bothering petitioning it due to the standard response about logs not showing anything. Once again thanks ccp,for wasting our time.

Question:
would you accept it if CCP said:
"look, we'll make sure a fleet battle will be playable but to do that, we're limiting the amount of people in a fleet to 80. Total in a fleetbattle then will be 160. As soon as one of such a fleet is in a system, restrictions will be put on how many others will be allowed in.
You'll be able to target each other, kill each other and clean up the mess but it will be with a limited amount of pilots in the each fleet."
Or would you whine that you cannot take part in limited fleet battle and demand that they remove any restrictions on fleet size so it can lag out again?

NO. i want ccp to fix the game that we pay for. All the fleet combat now is based on how many you bring. Granted i was on the side that had more numbers in this fleet but if you have more the more chance i guess you have to load system and kill ships that arent moving or responding.

If they managed to eliminate lag for N ships in a fleet battle, you'll just bring N+1 and ***** about that too.

It's amazing how far paying users will go to defend a broken game. CCP made pretty graphic updates, but has apparently given up trying to fix fleet combat. And before you try to argue "it's impossible" -- Eve has ALREADY had much larger fleets be workable.
How long can a broken game survive?

Well the magical source is money. keep buying servers and upgrades. I am not asking for pefection. but i would like to load during a 20min fight.
About me being a alt, it is true, i am a alt allied to your alliance as a matter of fact but we are not allowed to ramble on the forums as the goons do. I looked at our killboard, your killboard and a few friendly and hostile killboards and didnt see your name anywhere. So post with your main.

It's funny how a bunch of petulant children will keep on paying for a broken game. Any reasonable person would stop paying and using a service that she/he/it considers broken. Considering the whiny blips keep on paying for the game they are either sentience deficient or just hysterically exaggerating the issues they have.

The servers have been lagging now for 4 years,
Everything CCP has come up with and paid for to fix it has failed, Where is the need for speed ?, even the ramsons?
Don't get me wrong CCP are doing an average job, not outstanding but there idea of chucking money at something is not a fix, it's a temp workaround.
There dream of having the largest server and whatnot is great and it is godlike.. but when players can't load the grid after 20 mins of being on it, whats the point in nice graphics ?

The game isn't broken because one mechanic a minority of people want to use isn't usable. CCP are AFAIK currently looking into improving the cluster to add dynamic load-balancing to help, among other things, fleet battles. And while the maximum number of people who can fight properly at once has gone up and down over time, the real problem is that the game forces people to try to approach that maximum, not what the maximum actually is. -

I am a main. But if you look in game you will see why I am not on any.
Anyway, there IS a massive server upgrade coming. It has been talked about for awhile. They are working with IBM to have Blade servers, which can be able to dynamically shift the load on a node when it needs it.
Secondly, even if CCP had 100 Trillion dollars, there is only so much they can do. No matter how much money you throw at the problem, it does not work if the technology has not been invented yet.

Move to empire and look for low-sec PvP. It is the only PvP worth participating in these days due to the laggy blobs in 0.0.

I didn't know I was a "fanboi" because I understand that supertechnology hasn't been invented yet, and we are not going to get some supercomputer, sentient AI server, that is going to reroute the entire Internet Backbone for us to enable us to have lag free play, no matter the numbers.
Seems a lot more likely that you're just an idiot.

Yes, but it is much more difficult to find for various reasons. I lived in 0.0 for a long long time, and am now living in high-sec/low-sec/0.0 and I have found I enjoy the PvP much more than what I was doing for year before that in 0.0. Maybe by the time I grow this alliance to the point it can consider taking a 0.0 area as its own CCP will have figured out their lag issues. I sure hope so!

And you'd complain as loudly if EVE was 100x faster; no matter how fast it is, people will bring a blob larger than it can handle.

Precisely. And note how they all ignored the fact that Eve has, in the past, been able to handle much larger fleets. Thus:
IT IS NOT A HARDWARE ISSUE. IT IS A CODING ISSUE.
And as for the snide comment essentially "GTFO if you don't like it!" (typical neanderthal response) - if my new character was to that point (0.0), I might well do that. As it is, I cling to a completely unjustified hope that things will be improved by the time I have the skills to live in 0.0. Each day that hope grows dimmer. In reality, CCP has only until a new, worthwhile spaceship combat MMORPG emerges. If they haven't fixed fleets by then, Eve will experience "explosive decompression"...

Ohh, another person who doesn't know what they're talking about, I love it. Especially how t here's yet another one unwilling to post with their main.
The reason that larger battles were able to be "handled" had to do with them being a lot less prevalent, and GMs/Devs knowing where and when they were gonna be able to take plus, thus being able to reinforce the node.

Quiting is not what i want to do. what i want to do is have a good fleet fight where everyone in the fight loads and has fun. the point of this being called a "game".

Not to mention that in times past there were fewer players (and systems!) in general. Also, the ships and modules, and the way they worked (or didn't) was simpler, resulting in an aggregated reduction of data being moved about.
There is a theoretical limit to how much data you can move, and as I'm sure you're aware, there is also a problem with the concept of throwing more hardware at the problem because at some point it's less efficient to manage state between multiple systems than to just use fewer systems to do the job.
Even if the only thing we controlled was a point with a single weapon and a set of standardized values for all ship attributes, there's still a limit that gets approached faster and faster the more actors you introduce; it's an exponetially increasing amount of data to shift around.
CCP has been pushing the envelope in this type of computing since the inception of EVE. It doesn't work as well as any of us would like, but the performance is about as good as any reasonable person should expect or better given the technical hurdles they're dealing with. And from what I've read/heard, they're pushing that envelope back even further.
As the technology improves we'll see more improvements to things like large fleet battles and so on but as long as there's a finite amount of bandwidth available, lag is simply going to be- the only question is at what point (number of actors) does it occur.

AS much as the game bores me at least Warcraft has things right if it cant handle its users on a single server it uses multiple servers you might not have as many peeps to interract with but there is more chance of avoiding lag.
