Has anyone gotten this escalation? It started with a Serpentis Watch unknown site that I've done before, but after i blew up all the spawning structures and ships I got the escalation, 4 jumps out, and a simple fight with 3 or 4 frigs and cruisers, go through a gate and 4 frigates 225 km away that warped out and gave me another escalation. I go to the second escalation, similar combat at another gate, but when I warp through, the 4 frigates are there, 1 is 60km away, the other 3 leave, and stuff starts spawning, I got through about 40 cruisers/BCs and similar number of frigates when...
This.
The Serpentis Madcat/Hoodlum was the original frigate that stuck around with a message about his warp drive being broken. I couldn't break its tank, it has 90% in all resists for armor, and when i got it to half armor, it instantly repaired to full.
Has anyone gotten past this part? My Ishtar's tank barely held long enough to warp out after they spawned.

And you must be a troll.
To the OP I'd suggest taking some mates in logistics ships and fit a plate on that Ishtar or use something that has a heavier tank like a Eos/Astarte with plate. Idea is you have to tackle this end stage like a 10/10 plex have someone to draw aggro then have 2 mates in logistics to tank you while you got at least one other person using large f*ck off guns/launchers to bring down the spawn fast.
Note I've never done this plex so have no idea if you encounter respawns but it sure looks tasty.

It's not a plex, it's an Escalating path / Expedition from an exploration site.
And for an update, I went back after DT in my domi, the area had reset, and I popped the madcat with a full rack of light neutron blasters with void ammo and a flight of Vespa IIs with a fleeting web and omni link. (at least the madcat orbits in light neutron optimal.)
When the madcat died I got a message about the escalation being a dead end and that I could either leave or stay to be overwhelmed by Guardian Angel babysitters. The expedition is now gone from my journal.

Weird. Dead end means that you did everything that was possible in that escalation (so if you see "dead end" it means you succeded in completing escalation - asked GM about it ;p). This also menas something should have dropped goodies (you were looking at coreli/corelum modules).

No, dead end just means the escalation is over for you. I've had an escalation go 5 steps and end with an actual end (I caught the frigates I was chasing, and got faction loot from them) and then I got it again a few weeks and it dead ended on the third step "Your ship failed to track where they warped to" or something like that.

GM lied to me? :) Thought they removed all mid- dead ends already (yeh i remember them happening but most were removed).

Or the GM was just clueless about how exploration mechanics actually work.

Me and my m8 got through it today...
We killed all the red ships (not Matcat) ...took about 1+-2 hours (15 mill bounty)
then we killed the matcad (perhaps an error) ...got the dead end reply.
Then we killed the 5 white frigs...took +20 min.
In the start we where a CnR and a normal raven with a shield transporter. Had to warp out once.
When there was only the last 6 frigs the raven was switched with a stealth bomber.
NO loot what so ever (all had 10 cap booster + 1 laser crystal + 1 drone) NO Salvage what so ever (all returned 1x metal scrap)
BUT THE DRAKE WAS AVENGED!!!
The trick is to make 2x book marks @ 100-150km on each side of the spawn, and then warp between them when the BS comes within 20km. There is no warp jamming or ECM. But loads of web and dampening.
Fly safe.

lol. You just needed to kill the madcat, not the whole overwhelming force. Reassuring to see that it doesn't drop anything good though at least. Shame you got dead ended too though, I kind of wonder about the rest of the expedition now.

Well, alot of the escalations I have done have been extremely easy to mess up (imo).
So i thought I'd try killing them all (you tried quick killing the madcat, so no reason to try that)
Next time I find it I think I'll either try: 1. Quick kill as you did 2 kill everything including the 5 white frigs before killing the matcad...he might go "OMG don't kill me, my m8s are at XXX just please let me go!"
But i can't quite figure out the "dead end" part of escalations. Are they chance based?

Yeah, once you know the dead end/escalation trigger that's what it is, it's solely chance based whether you get an escalation or a dead end.

I'm sitting at the end stage of this escalation right now. There is a box called Madcat's Stash, but i cant open it while its being guarded.:) There are 3 (!) Madcats, and hundreds of cruisers and other stuff.
The area is full of nice roids (hemorphite, hedbergite, kernite and such)
:)

It ends in low sec.
And also, there is no acceleration gate. So it is possible to make bookmarks inside.

That looks like a blast, I really wonder what the can has in it, the mass amount of serps doesn't really look too hard, all BCs and cruisers and frigs, just a lot of them.

Yea but considering the previous locations of this exploration (which all had battleships and ceptors) there are more ships to come.:)
I guess its enough to kill the 3 madcats. It was enough to get the escalations, so maybe here too.:)

Okay, i cleared the area. I managed to kill the madcats with an ishtar.
You know what was in the Madcat's Stash?
A F...ING Small Nosferatu I !!! Nothing more...
Not even a named sh.t...
Bah, it wasn't worth the effort.

See, maybe you shouldn't get gisti or pithi stuff every time, but at least true sansha or dread guristas perhaps from the final stage of an escalation? :D

Yeah, expo is a lot of fun and very risky, pitty it didn't pay well, would make the game so much better if there was a good chance of finding nice stuff.
With the agent lp store nerf, missioning is mostly lacking in satisfaction. I guess it was partly put in place to control the mission running isk farmers. Expo site could be used to put the fun back into killing NPCs, if only it paid well enough to justify doing it.
