well we have a forum filter on these new forums that filters bad words
we also have our bios from the game pulled and placed on display in all their glory unfiltered.
so do we just continue on with this confusing situation or will bios also be filtered or sanitized at the source level so they can continue to be displayed on the forum with the filters?
Please tell me in any case that this didn't pass QA un-noticed
how does CCP plan on dealing with this? |

I've read some bio's with some very interesting phrases in them already. Doesn't seem to be a filter in place as I don't think the forum software runs that aspect of eveisreal. |

They really don't have much need to care, the "protection" of word filtration is less to help us in any way and more to keep CCP from having to deal with pitchforks and torches. You know, I never really got the pitchfork thing, did everyone just have them? I mean, I would have brought an axe or a shovel or maybe a hoe. That's if I was out to kill someone with a deranged horde of townsfolk as a deranged townperson, at least. Maybe the pitchforks were to, like, poke at evil spirits or something.

The forum filtering is to ease up on GM chasing down after totally inappropriate language without having to filter through each post and "Edit" things out, or chase after each person.
In my opinion, it's really more about protecting the poster from himself and keeping the EVE forum marginally more civilized than it otherwise would be without any filters.
I don't think they chase down or worry too much about the in game bio's - and I don't see why they should. NOSTRO AURUM NON EST AURUM VULGI |

We have always had a filter on our forums. The filter is specific to the forums and does not affect EVE Gate as a whole. Nor does it affect in-game.
If you come across a bio that has content that concerns you, please file a petition, which is what we have always asked players to do. :D CCP Fallout Associate Community Manager EVE Online @ccp_fallout |

Filter's are a minor and readily attainable step that companies can take to show that they at least make some efforts to create a cleaner environment for children who might be somewhere where they don't belong or people who generally notice vularity.
It is mostly just cover, but if someone writes complaining they can point to their filter and perhaps mention places where they have taken other actions.
That makes people more understanding ... they've taken steps they could...
... but unlesse they are everywhere at once they can't keep you from beeing far far far more vulgar than any swear word would allow,
Lick my Rod you trollling ..... well I don't want to be more vulgar than that but I could. |

i 'updated' my bio and EVE Gate ate the whole thing and it dissapeared.
so, nice one, linking a broken 'FEATURE' to the game we love.
i just LOVE the fact that EVE Gate is only being used now that its forced on people.
Its just the way of things around here. When EVE Gate wasnt linked to the forums, it worked. Now you link it, all sorts of things break with it.

Pitchforks are similar to a spear that it gives the wielder range; it exchanges maneuverability for sheer and utter poke power. Axes and hoes you can flail about with some effect, but these don't nearly provide the necessary range to react fast enough to witch hexes, missionary babble, and vampire bites. You can jab with maximum possible protection given by the weapon -and- still hit something.
If you think about it, any true blood-lusted lyncher wouldn't want anybody to get too close to them... therefore, pitchforks would be the most logical weapon of choice for this siege mentality.
I know.. these people are crazy... but they must have had some form of twisted logic when they deducted that there was a witch in their village o_O.

IMO pitchforks need a SERIOUS nerf.
I mean? 3 holes for the price of one poke? OVERPOWERED to say the least.
A pitchfork should be reduced to 2 prongs minimum, and to balance out the spear a serrated edge should be added. Range is also a factor but I'd hate to post something that will bring about the usual "resources need to be prioritized blah blah blah rabble"
Nerf the damn Pitchforks! Every single pissed off goat herder has one, they are way too powerful and way to commonplace. They were added into the game to aerate haystacks! They should NOT be so prevalent in PVP and they have very few counters in terms of garden tools in general. |

Well if you edit your bio made with the client from EVE gate, it just erases it, so I suppose the answer to your question is yes. |

eve gate is broken and ALWAYS will be broken. they have "more important" things to do like spending endless hours coding t-shirts and selling them to us than to fix this [strikeout]problem[/strikeout] feature. |
