I fly a Dom and all of my drone skills are capped. (faction and sentry). I just noticed I can fit two Sentry Damage Augmentor I (with penalty) onto my ship for added Sentry drone damage. They already do more damage than my tech 2 ogres (i think).
Is it better to go all sentry drones than use tech 2 Hammerhead and tech 2 Ogre drones?
I run lvl 3 and 4 missions only.

depends, stationary, use sentries, are you going to use sentry damage rigs, if you dont use the sentry damage rigs, sentries do less then ogres, id say ogres personally Sig removed, lacks Eve-related content. Yes, go with ogres for now. Sentry drones are bugged. If you care to know how, just ask. It's quite obvious once explained but CCP won't acknowledge it for some reason.

My domi has 2 sent rigs, 4 drone tracking computers and I fly lvl 3 missions very fast. High slots tractor beams and salvagers. After lots of testing I found missions where far faster then with ogres. I have a web fitted for close range targets and backup hammerheads but I very rarely use those. With the web and drone computers most targets can be hit.
Tensa please explain as I dont see how they are bugged. They hit better then my turrets and hit from 1km up to 60km with my setup. Passive shield tanking guide click here |

did you read the previous posts? if you fit sentry drone damage rigs they will do more then ogres, if you dont, they wont Sig removed, lacks Eve-related content. And it was ten times too big :p If you would like further details please mail [email protected] - Cortes

I dont agree either about rigs. I find with Sentry drones even without rigs I do more damage and kill faster then useing Ogres T2. Passive shield tanking guide click here |

Well, I'm far from brilliant when it comes to breaking things down in EvE, but just damage alone, Ogres look to do more damage. Please correct me if I'm looking at this wrong.
Sentry Tech 2: 50 x 1.56 +25% (Sentry Drone Interfacing) 97.5 every four seconds once object is locked. +10% for the Sentry Damage Augmentor I 107.25 every four seconds once object is locked.
Ogre Tech 2 48 x 1.92 + 25% (Heavy Drone Operation) + 10% (Gallente Drone Special) 124.416 every four seconds once in range.
No doubt the sentry drones do more damage from a distance because of the traveling time for the ogres, but in close range 0-25k, the Ogres (and even the Hammerhead 2) for me pop npc mobs faster.
I may have answred my own question.

I think you'll find Sentry are more effective in missions than ogres. I fit hammerheads myself in place of ogres, simply cause my ship does its own damage with guns, so drones tend to travel as much as they attack.

You have to factor in chance to hit as well a Garde has a very high chance to hit a frig out at 50km while an Ogre will spend time flying there then spend even longer trying to hit it. Passive shield tanking guide click here |

Maybe fixed now but last time i tryed to look at my sentry drone (warden t2) nothing appeared, maybe that was just me.

I'm not a big drone guy myself, but a lot of people use sentries just for the range difference. Ogres get stupid over long distances, and their speed is terrible.

For level 4 missions in my Domi against everything but Angels, this is my usual drone loadout:
5x Garde II 5x Hobgoblin II 5x Warden/Curator II (rat-specific) 4x Ogre II
The Ogres are rarely if ever used. I'm very rarely in a Domi without at least one sentry damage rig these days, and the Gardes handle everything cruisers and up just fine, especially with a web fitted, in which case they can even pop orbiting frigs. The trick is fitting 2-3 omnidirectional tracking links for your sentries.
