A crow is a ridiculously hard ship to kill, their insane speed and ability to fire 20km make them a wonderfull pirate ship
when you get your fitting a lil better and get hold of a MWD, you should be able to easily take out low-sp crusiers (caracal could be tricky, damn missile boats), but a blaster platform would have difficulty hitting you, and if your using my fit, any damage can be repped by the small armor repairer, also, if your fortunate enough to find a hulk you could probably beat it, as long as you keep the scrambler on the hulk and target the drones first, once the drones are poofed its to just a long hard slog to take its shield down (when you get t2 light blasters itll be much easier).
Anyway, looking great, keep trying and soon youll get to the point when 4 ravens will try to gank you, and youll kill them all :P (it isnt as hard as it sounds Megathron ftw), maybe look for a pirate corp, or hisec wardec corp to get ya started.

If you engage a inty in a belt, try to fly into the roids. Maybe you are lucky and the guy gets stuck between it while orbiting and you can get a web on him. Most inty pilots dont fit a repper or shield booster, so they will go down fast as soon as they are webbed.

So on this subject Ive been wondering... does everyone just fight while orbiting? Or are you supposed to double click and maneuver manually or just hit orbit and let the game fly for you? In this example from the previous poster youd have to manually fly into the roids... but what about when out in open space? Do pro pirates ever manually fly their ships or just orbit? What about the "keep range" function?
And thanks for all the help Ghost Nightmare

For me it depends on what i'm flying. In a BS i just hit the 'keep in range' button with around 90% of my optimal. On missile boats i always orbit, to keep the chance of getting hit as low as possible. In frigs i try to orbit too, because the small sig radius and speed are the main advantages. Just in some situation where i have to leave or get stuck somewhere i switch do manual control. The only situation where i fly completely in manual mode, is in drone ship with tracking disruptors. Sometime you orbit your victim within scram range and you realize he is trying to run away. In that case i direcly chase him, double clicking in his direction.
I dont know if this fits for you, it's my playing style. I have seen alot of guys doing it completely different. Many gallente chars for example always try to directly approach the target, cause of their low optimal. Its something you have to figure out on your own. In the beginning it's maybe more usefull just to orbit, cause the 'excitement factor' in a fight is usually 1higher compared to a 3 year old pvp-veteran. While you get more experienced you'll automatically start using features u didnt know at the beginning.

Nice start and well done. Your enthusiasm really comes through in your writing and I urge you to keep writing. The tristan is a decent frigate but an incursus is better (both in stats and in looks!) though the rifter is the king of T1 frigates. Others may and will, disagree. As a pirate, always try to have either a warp scrambler or disruptor. You can't have those fishies run away from you! On a frigate you need to rely on your small size and speed to keep you alive.
My advice is to skill up and get into a thorax and then stay in this ship, working on the support skills (blasters, drones and armour repping) to make the thorax a beast. Avoid the temptation of moving into a Battle cruiser or battle ship too soon. Sure you can pilot a battleship after a week's training but you can't do anything in it, except provide comedy killmails to other people.
Drop me a line ingame if you want to talk more.

Originally by: Luckoe Ok well a few people have been suggesting the Incursus... and Im not really having much luck in the Imicus. The Imicus just a bit to slow with not enough slots to improve speed. The 3 drones with drone interfacing at 2/5 are hitting pretty hard though
Im going to try out this setup for the Incursus. Might switch the Micro Auxillary power core for a Damage Control I though... it was suggested by an ingame player.
3x Light Ion I 1x Webifier, 1x 1mn MWD, 1x Warp Scrambler 1x Micro Auxillary Power Core, 1x 200mm Rolled Tungsten Plate 1x Hobgoblin IIs
Also it was suggested that I move to a region with low sec systems wedged in between high sec systems... since alot of the non-pirate pilots are more careless. Once I get my security status lowered to much I'll move to rougher waters
/gasp.. imicus for pirating? sinful sinful.. use a proper combat ship, it will probably work much better for you.

Ok thats what people are saying... or since I went special forces they say I could make the vexor work to. Probably alot more isk though
No, no, no...
Big is NOT necessarily better.
I'd stick with what works for you, and judging from your OP, you're getting valuable experiences with that little tristan as to what you can and can't do.
Stick with it for some time, then reread your OP. Once all those questions you derive from every fight have cleared up somewhat, start training for the next ship in line.
You're doing a helluva good job, and your patience and inquisitive nature WILL pay off when you get to fly bigger stuff.
Good luck to ya.

Ah the tristan :D my fav Well If my memory serves me correct What I fitted on my Tristan for PVP and scored several kills :)
Hi 2 75mm Gats (Keep Antimatter/Iron (for Long range) 2 Rocket Launchers (keep EM/Explosive type) Use EM on Shields and Exp on Armor
Mid 1 MWD 1 Scram 1 Web
Low 1 Magstab 1 DCU 1 Cap relay (the one that decreases Shield Boosting But u wont be boosting anything)
1 Hob Drone
Alot of people don't use rails in PVP I do at times if they get out of range You can still nail them. Magstab Added Damage/ROF Cap relay help in cap recharge. its been so long so I can't remember try it :) see how it works GL have fun!

If you want, I can do a couple of mock fights or somethign similiar with you if you contact me in game. This character is pretty new, so I think that SP wise it would be a pretty matched fight. I am Euro TZ so I am normally on between 17:00 to 23:00 eve time. Just send me a eve-mail or start a convo with me, and we can organize something. Blood Reavers will be recruiting in a short time!

If your in a frig size ship orbiting close to a cruiser or above you'll sometimes want to try a very tight manual orbit after getting web'd.
