Medium Armor Repairer I CPU 25 Power 150 !!wtf? Armor repaired/second: 16 Cap/second: 10.667
Medium Shield Booster I CPU 50 Power 12 Shield repaired/second: 20 Cap/second: 20
Are you supposed to be able to fit a Med Armor Repairer on a cruiser (Maller)? Although the shield booster uses 2x cap/second, it repairs 25% faster, and has much lower fitting requirements.

Armor != Shield
Shield is power, aka, electricity. Armor is well, solid. ------- Your 425mm Prototype I Gauss Gun perfectly strikes Guardian Enforcer, wrecking for 827.3 damage. |

I use a medium armor repairer on my thorax and have no problems with it. The duration of the armor repairer can be reduced with the appropriate skill and it needs only 2 cap to repair 3 armor HP. In addition, armor hardeners are more cap friendly than their shield counterparts as well. And armor tanking free's med slots for scramblers, web, ab, weapon disruptors, tracking comps or other stuff

It's not like it's worth tanking anything lower than a battleship anyways. ------

Is that so?
There are some items that will make a cruiser nearly as strong as a BS and armour tank quite nicely. Means you can resist cruise missile attacks. Convo me if you are interested.

I have my Maller right now with all off the shelf parts, consisting of:
5 Medium Beam Lasers 1 Med Shield Booster 1 Med Shield Extender (much power, but +400 shield points) 1 EM Shield Hardener (I hunt in Amarr space so they all have lasers) 4 Cap Relay I's 1 Heat Sink 1 Med Armor Repairer
The shield booster is key on the Maller because the Cap Relays are a best way to keep energy for your turrets, and the Shield Booster makes their penalty (nullified shield recharge) irrelevant, for the low low cost of a med slot.
My skills are not 1337 or anything, and I can fit all that. It's a good all-around gunship/tank setting, and the Maller does it well. I don't know if that answers your question.

It's actually fun to armor tank a cruiser and go NPC hunting. Makes for good practice for learning how to set things up.

Bring the armor repair skill to 4 and you got the same regen rate as the shield booster has. Sure it uses more powergrid but less CPU and half the cap. Do not forget that armor has more resistance than shield.

I'm not try to tank a maller, I'm trying to replace a shield booster with a armor repairer as a reponse to the CPR changes. However, the power requirement of a medium armor repairer is absurd. The only way you can put one on is to remove a laser turret.
I've compared the cpu/power usage of each size of armor repairer (small/medium/large) to the average usage of the corresponding laser turrets and the MAR is way out of line. The data is listed below, horribly formatted I'm sure...

I am glad at least that they have dropped it to 50 on the large armour repairers. Last I remember they were a huge 90 cpu and it was a struggle to actually fit one on an arma and hardeners.
I think your comments are fair. I was thinking a greater reduction in power grid for the medium one, but your view is sound methuselah.
My only concern is to still allow other races to use these types of tech. Obviously the first that comes to mind is gallante as they may very well end up armour tanking a fair amount also, so my powergrid comments in another thread were aimed at a lower level to be more friendly to both.
Still nice work, and I agree really the powergrid on the medium one is still to high imo.
