Edited by: Zepharim on 05/01/2008 16:05:22 Ok, this is my third distro where the same thing has happened now. First was FC7 64bit, then FC8 64bit, and now the standard Ubuntu 32bit.
Antialiasing used to work fine with the previous Nvidia driver, but now, enabling antialiasing on the new driver, seemingly in any distro, will cause this vertical tearing and drastic fps drop. Also, there will be no antialiasing enabled If I turn off antialiasing again, EVE is still screwed up.
Deleting the contents of this location resets Eve to a playable state, with no anti-aliasing: /home/user/.cedega/EVE Online/c_drive/Documents and Settings/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE
I really need to get antialiasing working, as I personally find I cannot fly around without it. All I see are those jagged edges, and I hate it
Why has this new driver screwed it up I wonder?

35 views and no response? Does everyone on the Linux client really run without antialiasing? I can't imagine it.
Considering I've seen AA work on the previous drivers, there must be a way to do it.

To be honest, I don't run either client with AA turned on in the driver control panel. But it is conceivable that something in the way the new drivers force AA processing upsets cegeda... somehow.
As AA works fine in the various games I play (via wine) which allow for AA to be set in the game itself.
Oddly enough I've not had issues with jaggies, so what resolution are you playing at? If it is a major issue for you then perhaps also checking wine out and see if it suffers the same issue?

Edited by: Sevarus James on 07/01/2008 20:18:21 I'll take a look at this on my test rig. Personally at 1900x1200 I haven't had an issue with "jaggies" at all, and am using the HDR with high bloom via wine, and it looks gorgeous. Comparing it to AA on and HDR + shadows via an XP install, I'm not seeing a ton of difference.
FPS with an 8800GTS 640meg oc EVGA card have been amazingly good. (other than the massive bounding box issue that forces one to move the mouse to an extreme part of the screen to get the normal 'right click' menus, this is working very well.)
Just remember to turn OFF shadows in the eve gfx section. It will either kill your fps, or as in my case, put the shadows in wierd places that draw over the top of things and cause other wierd anomalies.

I got AA working - only a couple of the settings work - this is with wine and the classic version. But only with one client at a time.
I'm running at 1680x1050, and the jaggies are quite noticeable on caldari ships and stations - all those straight lines.
Anyway, I'll manage. Now I just need to get the cedega dual clients working again.
