hold down right click and look at something wth it.
this is the camera that move the view around.
once you'l chosen something, even if it's your own ship now hold down the left button while STILL holding down the right (note in this order the other way just gives you normal zoom)
once you have both buttons held down after pointing the camera move the mouse to zoom in without the normal restrictions.
also once you have something your looking at and your zoomed in double click the left button without letting go of the right and you'll get to move around your new view. and repaet.
warning moving this around too much will make the graphics go wonky.
like a stargate will be the size of a planet funky.

this is not advanced camera
advanced camera is turned on in one of the menu settings. it allows you to set an object as the parent then somethign else as the interest, which gives rise to some kickarse camera shots.
however, it is currently inactive as of trinity for some reason. --------------

well he asked about how to get good camera angles for movies.
this is done but using the zoom and tracking targets manually.
the advanced camera menu is weak at best and not used by most if any movie makers.

TRUST me that is not the advance camera menu. don't believe me? you see the devs have a special set of camera controls that we don't have. back in 2005 one of these was released. This new camera control isn't documented but film makers know all about it is the right then left camera track and zoom control. However this was only one of the many camera contorls used that no player has access to.
Other tool include a free roaming not stuck on a ship camera. Formation flight controls. Fly by camera which goes form one point in space to another. which on top of the formation flight makes for stunning captures.
"But Mothermoon I know more than you because I an the L33t"
allright then I'll let you figure it out for yourself. However this might help.

in that case the advanced camera menu isn't really a menu, just right click on a ship and you can set as parent and as interest.
Another way of doing this without the camera menu is by lingering your mouse over a target your locked on to in the locked targets icons.
the camera will set the target as interest and track it.

The undercut in saying that "i know more than you cus im leet" or whatever, that was uncalled for.
Another thing, i seem to recall the guy behind eve never fades doing said vid before he got given the job. at least thats the message i got in an interview with him that i cba to find, youtube it, it was to do with eve tv or something.
in that vid (eve never fades) i cannot find a single shot i can not replicate with advanced camera menu. even the ships warping past the camera is achievable aslong as you are not the ship in question.
i knew about formation flight, i knew about the camera tools, now less of the uncalled for smack ok? --------------

the biggest issue with your point is how will you avtivly use the right click menu with all windows hidden?
thats what the editing is for >) again in vids created using the advanced cam menu, editing tends to smudge out the problem of hidden windows and such. --------------

when your taking fraps you hide the windows with the ctrl atl thing. thus righting clicking objects in space won't do anything? or maybe I'm being dumb maybe you can access the menu even with windows hidden. plsu I suppose you could set it up each time before pressing the hide windows button.

ah yea i get you, unless they changed it they usedto have shortcuts you could set for each camera option, and as you can still click on ships while the HUD is closed (it just doesnt show) it is quite handy.
however i havnt set it up again sincetrinity so they may have removed the shortcuts.
