So yeah, I decided to post my work here.
I've been releasing backstory for my character to the Veto Corp forums for the last two years or so, and finally decided to throw up a link to it here.
I'm a firm believer that people should speak to my character on an IC level to find out more about him, so I've been pretty light with the details in some respects. Those who know the character on an IC level, know a lot more.
Of course, all I ask is that people who choose to read them treat them as Out Of Character information.
Most of the Episodes I've released so far are either a prequel to Ethan's time as an Egger and focus around the motivations he gained to become a capsuleer. There are also stories based around events that have happened in game, and some fiction to flesh out areas of his character and his reactions to given situations.
There's a lot more in the works, and new Episodes tend to appear every week or two.
I've also got a couple of pieces on there that are not related to characters I play in game, and were written primarily as a way of exercising my mind while I was ill.
Hopefully more of those will crop up soon too without the need for illness.
You can find an index of my work in this thread on the Veto Corp forums.
If you feel the need to comment, please feel free to do so either here or in that thread if you'd like to register with our forums.
Please keep it civil if you choose to do so. I'm by no means a professional writer of any sort, and I'm still very much in the initial stages of developing my own writing style.
Full credit goes to "Atienne", also known as Anders Bierberg Hald for his awesome depiction of Verone in "A Visit Home" with his flawless artwork.

You should totally have these stories illustrated - there's a few guys in Eve that did amazing art for my stories, talk to Tajidan or Pallantre (Uuve Savisaalo) for example. Might cost a few hundred million, but well worth the ISK. Pictures will bring your writing to life.
That's pretty flattering given the quality of the work you've put together in this section of the forums.

Okay, so I've finally added an Episode I've wanted to write and release for a long time.
As an Engineer I've always been fasicnated by the concept and technology behind the capsule and it's interfacing. One of the scenes I've always wanted to depict is Ethan's first immersion in the capsule, and the technology encountered while a person is prepping for capsule based flight.
I've always assumed that given the speed of prep in player terms, that interfacing with a capsule isn't a long, drawn out process, but is made as quick and easy as possible for both the sake of the capsuleer and for efficiency in combat if there is a need to be in space within a given timeframe.
Being somewhat of an purist in terms of sticking to Eve's prime fiction, writing this episode has been something I've toyed with for a long time as it involves delving into some grey areas of the game's backstory that aren't clearly defined or explained, hence I've only gone into as much detail as I'm comfortable with for now.
Hopefully you'll enjoy reading it as much as I have the challenge of writing it while sticking to the basis of prime fiction. Of course, I've intentionally been light on details in places due to the lack of techincal backstory on the capsule and it's technology, but where possible I've used my own knowledge to improvise and (hopefully) remain in line with PF.
As with anything that looks into a previously unwritten area of the backstory, I feel it is prudent to privide some form of citation as to where in the PF the inspiration came from.
The main source of inspiration came from the article Polyvessel Pilot : Capsule Cleared which outlines pod and cloning tachnology roughly and the technology behind it. As far as collecting technical data goes, the bulk of the mental image came from here.
As well as that, the inspiration for breathing apparatus, notably the two nasal tubes and lack of a full face mask or intrusive tubing came from the Eve Chronicle The Communication Relay Comittee, where we see the only really detailed image of an immersed capsuleer that CCP has provided us with to date.
To top this off, the idea of the "Neural Jack" came from the phyiscal inspection of corpses in game (ewwwww) under the new Trinity graphics engine. Look closely enough and it can be seen that they have a single large neural interface in the back of what appears to be the Parietal bone of their skull. As well as that, several corpses I've inspected (purely for the purpose of research, you understand ) have been shown to have a similar smaller jack in their left forearm, hence the inspiration there too.
Regardless of reference, I've attempted to stay true to my own writing style and provide as much detail as possible without going too far and contradicting PF.
"Episode 27 (XXVII) - Immersion" can be found at the bottom of the list of episodes linked in the original post for your reading pleasure.
As always, feedback is much appreicated.

For those that enjoy the descriptive combat writing I do, a short Episode, number 28 is now available centering around a contact our corporation had with several Serpentis ISD characters in Vlillrier. They were a scouting party for the carrier full of narcotics that was subsequently detained by the Federation.
Enjoy.

Edited by: Verone on 20/11/2008 16:13:28 Today being the third anniversary of Veto's formation, I've decided to release a series of writing that have been on the back burner for almost a a year and a half now.
The first part of "Welcome To Venal" can be found below the usual episodes in the index list. The series follows Verone's first trip to Venal, and his first real taste of planetside life in a run down and poverty stricken area. When all episodes are subsequently released it will flesh out the story of how he came to be married, and in loose terms how he subsequently became to be so heavily involved with the Guristas.
It also paves the way to show where his neuroses surrounding his subsequent divorce a year later from Naph stem from, and how his feelings regarding being left alone have developed from dispair to rage.
More episodes will be added to complete this series over the coming week or two once editing is complete.
As always, I hope you enjoy my work.

Originally by: UD549 . I like the Dictator approach, commit massive amounts of crimes while getting your army to protect you from the law. I would like to see you take on more of a warlord role then a petty outlaw.
While not a "Warlord", I assume that most Pirate CEOs when looked at from IC terms are typically seen along the lines of how the heads of Mafia families and cartels are seen today.
While not invincible and no where near completely safe, they have a lot of protection around them and generally delegate most of the nasty work to the people who work for them. Saying that, Ethan has a strong liking for getting his hands dirty, even with so many people working for him.
For those who do reguarly read what I write, apologies for the lack of releases over the christmas period, it's been a pretty busy time. Three more new episodes (65,66,67) have arrived in December, however I have a much larger volume of writing planned for the first part of 2009, a lot of it looking back over Ethan's time before capsuleerism, and his early times as a graduate.

With the tournament to work on for three weeks, plus Christmas and New Year celebration it's been tough to fit everything in. Now that it's over and done with, it feels good to be able to get back to writing again.

More should arrive over the next week or so as a few more longer episodes are in the final stages of being completed.

Okay, so it's been a little more than a week. For those few who do enjoy my writing, apologies.
I've had a lot of positive eve-mail, and a few that have contained some constructive criticism on minor grammatical errors that seem to occur now and again in my work, so I've been through and re-read every piece of fiction I've written so far and cleared these up.
It's taken some time... a total of almost 450 pages so far, but it's put me in a good position and frame of mind to start putting out fiction again, and given me some fresh inspiration and clarity on what's been written so far.
In the next few days over the weekend hopefully there'll be another 5 or so pieces for those who're interested to read.

So wow, it's been a little while.
Family commitments out of game and a lot of stuff with work have kept me away from writing for a while, but here I'm offering a new addition to the ongoing story of Life Of An Outlaw.
For those who enjoy reading my work, you'll be happy to know that when I arrive back from Fanfest on October 11th I'll be free to write a lot more, as the company I work for has finally taken a pounding by the recession and is making me redundant. This should help as I'll have a lot of spare time to think while job hunting.
Episode 84 has arrived, and workload pending there'll be a few more over the next couple of days. You can find it through the index link in the original post
Thanks to those who do so for reading as always, and apologies for the delay between releases, it's been a trying few months.

A second addition for the day.
I wanted to write an Episode that surrounded Ethan's first pod loss as CEO of Veto Corp when it came. I deliberated over it for a while, since that loss didn't come in combat, but to a laggy black screen undock in Venal while piloting a covert ops ship.
I think the result is a little strange, but I've tried to highlight just how fragile a capsuleer's "immortality" really is and how strongly it relies on functional and reliable hardware.
Episode 85 : Mortality, is available now for the scrutiny of those who like to read my work. It can be found on the index page linked in the original post of this thread.

One of the questions that seems to come up the most surrounding the fiction I put together is how the corporation is structured on an in character basis, and how everyone fits into place in detail.
After a little work, I've put together a couple of pieces of reference fiction titled "Anatomy Of a Criminal Organisation" that describe the breakdown of the corporation and family, and their structure, including a reference image to show the corporate chain of command.
They can be found above the list of "Life Of An Outlaw" episodes in the index thread linked in the original post.

And another update.
I've moved the original Episode 1 to position as a prologue, as from a storytelling point of view this seems to be the logical place to put it. I've always wanted to write a piece that kind of emphasized the importance of being "capsule compatible", and what it means to a family when their children are effectively given the nod.
So, a replacement Episode 1 has been released, named "Destiny".
I'll apologise for the lack of activity over the last 7 weeks or so, starting a new job and shift pattern has been kicking my ass, but now that I'm into the routine I'll be steaming toward 100 episodes in the coming weeks and beyond.
You can find a link to the index thread for the new episode in the original post of this thread.
Hopefully regular readers will enjoy this one too. Once again, thanks for the comments and mails I receive, every bit of it is more than welcome.

I wanted to portray the way that we do things in Veto Corp a little, and how seriously we take the attitude to loyalty in character.
The internal structure of Veto Corp works in character as a hybrid of a traditional Sicilian Mafia family, and a Yakuza cell. As such, I've written a piece surrounding the procedure that a trial member, or "Shaatei" goes through to finally be accepted as " Kijodai"; a member of the family.
Episode 92 can be found in the index link in the original post of this thread.

Work and drunken Eve meets have been kicking my ass, but it's looking good to hit Episode 100 sometime early in the new year
Enjoy :3

The newest offering is "Episode 94 : Wetgrave"
I noticed some discrepancies in Eve's prime fiction with regards to the interfacing used by capsuleers, namely the position and nature of neural implants and connections for capsuleer flight.
I've always had a VERY heavy interest in Eve's technical backstory, so this is my attempt at clearing up these things that sort of irritate me a little.
The episode centres around the switch from the old capsule model in Trinity (gen. 2) to the more " damn dirty Jovians" looking one (gen. 3) in recent iterations of Eve's graphics engine (the differences can be seen here) as well as the differences in positioning of implants.
Currently a frozen corpse in eve's ingame engine has a neural jack in the joint between the Parietal and occipital bones in the rear of the skull, with the advent of the new avatars, and the recent Incarna teaser we can see that they now have a series of implants resting down their spinal column. Inspiration is also taken from the Incarna teaser.
As always, the link to my fiction index can be found in the original post of this thread.
Hope you enjoy guys.

Two more episodes before I head off to Fanfest tomorrow :D
The first, #95, a close call for Ethan. The seconds, a small glimpse into the logistical efforts undertaken by Veto Corp after Her Imperial Majesty's announcement of the Emancipation.
Enjoy
