Well, as my first experience of 150+ ships fighting each other, it was interesting, but I'd have to say if this is the common type of warfare to expect in 0.0, I'd rather skip it. Too much lag, and generally rather chaotic.
Fun enough though, I didn't lose much, as I was only flying a vexor. Even managed to limp back to the gate in my pod and leg it back to empire.

Meh. That was perhaps the least fun fight I've ever been in. Ever.
Jump in.... see the oh so usual blob of nanoed up/t2 fitted l33tz0r ships. Turn on mwd, target primary... At this point everything apparently appeared to stay still, aside from a number of messages telling me I'm being hit. After what seemed to be a good minute of that.. I suddenly appear over 100km away from the gate and find myself on low armour and heading to infinity and beyond. By then everything has gone **** up and entirely unplayable in any fashion at all.. so I warp to the station to escape the ocean of lag. And thus ends the "fight".
Oh how I love 0.0 fleet stuff

Ok final tally was 1 Frigate, 2 Dictors, 1 Battlecruiser and 1 Recon ship. Total bounties paid today were 101m ISK.
Sadly I was unable to broadcast the even due to my connection overseas to Europe being crap today... hopefully it clears up for next week.
re Lag: Yeah, it was pretty nasty. Up to now we haven't had more than 100 ships TOTAL on both sides in the fight. We have 77 in our fleet today, local in Doril which is where the big fight went down was at 163 or something. Fleet battles like that with so many people usually do lag a bit, it was unfortunate, I know a lot of people on our side couldn't target or shoot anything.
Grats to AAA for wiping us out... at least you didn't resort to cap ships.
Next week, we'll be grouping up somewhere else and the fleet theme will be Destroyers... I'll have more details posted in this forum in a couple days.

When we got the jump order I got an immediate "TRAFFIC CONTROL" wait 2 minutes or so. When I make it in there was tons of lag, which stopped when I was podded and 28 jumps back home.

i cant complain about lag, tbh the grid loading was excellent in comparison to other engagements, gun activation was fine, only had problems with a half loaded overview at beginning, but respect for bringing it, great event go on with it plz

Thanks everyone, it was laggy, but that was to be expected when both sides show up with 70-80 people :) I had a lot of fun and I got rid of my Myrmidon in a fun way.
And thanks again to Dragon revolutuon for bringing a CNR that really made my day =D - Eve Radio Theme Fleet unofficial mini site! |

Think its SAD. There is a bunch of empire guys, some not that skilled in pvp, that want to have some fun. AAA that is well known as good pvpers and for using nice ships brings in more ships of which mostly are T2 fitted against the empire fleet. Ofcourse it was a nice fight for AAA but I dont think you needed that many ships and that nice T2 fleet, or where you affraid to loose!?. Whatever next time let them in to 0.0 and make it a fun fight for both. These guys are just trying to have fun and are not in any alliance that are involved in the big war. At least you didn't bring the caps, thank God for small favors, you probably didn't even have them standby.

Was just a small fleet assembly. Requested fleet bs so whoever showed up, did. We didn't know how many was coming.
Why not do what we do best and show the carebears what awaits if they every break their empire chains and join a 0.0 allaince :)
And no need for cap standby.

tbh i was thinking there would be much more battleships, cause battleships were called to bring in, so we thought about to show what a fearsome weapon a battleship can be, and we were thinking about to show some empire people what awaits them when entering 0.0, anyways it was fun, and maybe some of the ppl think about it to join a 0.0alliance to get decent fights..off side from empire war decs, to get the real potential of every skill you trained and see every side of eve
there is maybe a learn effect how evil lag can be and decide battles, another learn effect for bein prepared every jump you do in 0.0

god lighten up a bit.... when we realized it was eve radio fleet we thought it would be a great way to test our conditioning.
it was a fun fight as im sure it was for some of the eve radio listeners involved
we wern't all that serious about it but did want to stick to normal fleet MO
i hope the newer people had fun and like the prospect of having more fleet fights after this

The interdiction folks I think are a little disapointed they didn't get to fight with us instead.
I think a lot of our guys had fun... a lot really had it ruined for them with the lag. In a situation like that, the people jumping in system seem to be hit the worst with the lag since they have to load up their own fleet coming in as well as yours, whereas you've already got all your fleet loaded, only have to worry about the incs, so I think for the people who couldn't target or shoot, and only got 1-2 FPS and then realized they were blown up without being able to even shoot, I think those guys didn't have much fun at all... but that's not AAA's fault, that's gate queue +lag, and the further behind people came in the worse it was.
The only thing I'll say for next time is that you guys could have won that fight with half your numbers, it might have been about even with 1/3. The people in these fleets are not uber pilots by any stretch, they have no vent, and it usually takes us 5 jumps just to teach people to align, warp together, and hold on gates.
Again though, I don't fault AAA for anything. GF. In fact, you guys fight VERY well... a little out of our class sadly, but an ass beating for the ages just the same.

well, altough i did froze up once, it wasnt long, and not as horrible as i've seen. 0.0 can be very ruthless, and unforgiving. but can also bring you a lot of fun. not being able to target does take a lot of the fun away (if not all). but there is always a bright side. first there is the learning effect, i saw some ppl that thought it was a nice experiment, but won't go do the 0.0 life. but there also is another side, you can only really taste victory if you tasted loss. loss is always hard to swallow, but when you do get a victory, it'll be sweeter then if would've been.
i really admire that you actually came to 0.0, i also really admire that you engaged a fleet of experienced veterans. when i was still an empire dweller, i wouldn't dare to do such a thing =). *takes hat off*
edit : yes, ppl jumping in have more lag then the one that's already there. think it's something like 3 times as bad. but i only froze at the end with only pods in overview, and that was for like 10 seconds or so...

I do agree with Dj FunkyBacon, AAA probably could have beaten the fleet with half the numbers they used. Ofcourse Interdiction was a bit disapointed since we had a fleet of 26 ships waiting for the EVE Radio fleet. So a fun evening for AAA at the shooting range and a hard night for the pain absorbers of Eve Radio.

Edited by: Nomorefun on 18/01/2008 08:51:02 Thanks for the fight Guys.
I just want to add some words adressing lag. If you want to do this things more often, remember to lower your graphics Setting (Colordeep/Deepthbuffers)everytime you go in a Fleetfight.(FC, remind your Pilots) And turn all the effects off. (Strg+Alt+Shift+T for Turret efects, Strg+Alt+Shift+E for all other effects) This reduces lag really well.
I loaded Grid very Quick and could shoot nearly instantly.
But respect for the balls flying in unknown Territory

Yes no matter how much we get our asses beat, not one will ever be able to say that our fleet's pilots lack balls.
Another note for the future... you didn't need those dictor bubbles. We....don't....run.

Helluva good laugh!
And yes it's 0.0 so totally expected a gank of some sort and props to AAA for the well organised gatecamp, and execution of the fleet.
P.s. Not sure which one of your pilots it was as i died and he survived, but how was it getting hobgob2's hitting ya at that range from my lil'vexor?
