What is you oppinion about the introduction of new weapon types?
Energy guided missiles (ie: Photon Torpedoes).
Any new type of weapons you would also like to see introduced? post them here!

Biological & chemical weapons would be nice, componants that ate away at the hull, got inside the ship and made the pilot decompose. Probably best left for beyond tech V...
Non-lethal weapons would be my vote, not EW locking ships up but guns firing to disable modules and possibly destroy them completely.
That would open up a whole new arena for people who are into roleplaying a benevolent congregation or whatnot to engage in PvP without ever killing their enemies and still handing them their asses. Much like the native americans coup.

Well, randomly trawling through SF...
Primary beams - ignore shields and hit hull directly
Needle beams - once shields are down, can attack modules through armour
Grav lance - takes down a shield for (say) 30 seconds
Hyper missiles - warp inside shields and explode
Hypervelocity missiles - lower damage but much more speed
All of which said, let's try and balance the weapons we do have before introducing new ones, eh? ;-)

Grav Lance - you wouldn't have been reading David Webers Honor Harrington series would you?
Awesome series... I would just love the missile pods... use a Bestower like HMS Wayfarer (was a Q-Ship for people who havent read any of Webers books). The Q-Ship jettisons pods that have missile launchers fitted and then they fire together. Instant missile swarm. Downside is they are one shots... ie they cant be reloaded. -------------------------------------------

I would like to see some sort of weapon where u can " tag " a ship temporarily, like summat that puts a radioactive signature on a ship's hull for a brief period, that can be tracked by ships with the right equipment.
That way, u could no longer just warp to a safe spot straight away, u would have to run and evade them for a short time. It would make for more exciting PvP, and open up more ambush possibilities.
And maybe doomsday weapons, like floating super-nukes, or stupidly big ions cannons that take ages to charge up after a target lock has been established.
1 thing i would like first tho, is something done about the missiles. And maybe siege launchers that could fire as fast as an assault, but only take smaller missiles/rockets, and it could launch like 5 each salvo, sort of like a missile version of a gatling gun.

How about a super weapon?
1 slot per ship and when pressed it will drain you cap like a leech. How much you let it drain the more powerfull will be the shot.
when the charge reach maximum you have the option to continue building up power but it will also damage you ship (perhaps even destroy it). Put a nice graphic effect and sound to warn others you are powering up you primary weapon.
Some names for weapons:
- Death Ray - Photon Torpedo - Quantum Torpedo - Anti Matter Torpedo - Phasers - Plasma Torpedoes/Beam

I second the Ion-Cannons for disabling moduls/targeting/etc.
not a weapon but i would like to see some kind of shotgun-ammo, trippling tracking and doing great dmg on close-rang

Id like to see debuff type weapons.
Maybe a catalyst enfused plasma which would do little or no dmg to a ship, but would drop thermal resistance to shields or armor by 25%.
A photon torpedo missile, that would do little to no dmg, but would put a -25% em risistance to shield or armor for a short period of time.
A traction web ammo that upon hitting a target that would do little to no dmg, but drops kinetic resists by 25%.
A singularity ammo round that would do little to no dmg, and would drop explosive resists by 25%.
I think having one type of these debuffs for each race, maybe for each weapon type would be very cool. And you could make the debuff last for a fairly short period of time. If I am solo and use one hybrid with a debuffing ammo, I would probably do less dmg, as Im not doing any dmg with one turret. But, if I was grouped, the dmg would be significantly improved, as all my groupmates firing on my target would gain from the debuff.

Energy leech missiles - drains a fixed amount of cap from the ship depending on size of missile, so standard missiles drain a small amount, torpedo versions a large amount. Ignores shields.

How about warp scramble or web missiles they could do no actual damage but would allow the atttacker to free up a mid slot and the defender to still use warpcore stabiliers but also have say a 10 second duration so the attacker would loose a high missile bay but gain a mid slot instead in effect...would also allow the defender to use defender missiles possibly or a single ship to gain say 10 secss head start agianst 3/4 ships of they were to use them right.

Keel turret mounts! strap a single 1400 onto a frigate.. forward firing only.. then add 2800mm and 5400mm for cruiser and bs, also hybrids and beams of course. Ion cannon frigates anyone?
leech drones.. latch onto battleships and cruisers, inside the shields and inside smartbomb range!.. cause hull damage for a certain time until the heat requires them to get off or blow up. ( i loved homeworld.. can ya tell?)
Heavy torps! 1k+ damage, and so big you can only fit 1 or 2 per siege launcher. make em slow, targetable, and cheap.
shotshell rounds for projectile and hybrid, and wide angle lense for lasers.. short range, low damage, but much, much better chance to hit fast frigates
pre charged lasers.. have lasers carry an internal capacitor.. you can select recharge just like other guns reload.. the lasers recharge for 10 seconds and can then fire 10 shots cap free, for a total cap use of mebbe 1/4 or 1/3 of the normal cap required to shoot ten shots. note, still allow lasers to shoot the way they previously did, but it'd just be less efficient than the new way
finally, a single use, heavy damage missile spammer specifically for indies. no reload or a long reload. just somethin to even the odds against kestrels with 4 cruise missiles.

In Space a particle of sand can destroy a ship - so why not a SAND BOMB. Billions of particles tearing at your ship would make it fall apart like grated cheese. However they would also create a navigation issue for your own ship and others nearby and could be devistating in a large battle. Don't try to be a great man, just be a man and let history make it's own judgements.

How about an indy only mod... point defense lasers. It wouldn't be broken if it's only for indy ships, and it'd let them use their single turrent to help keep cruise missles from eating them alive. |

So say 1500hps a top speed of 750m/s and a long range of 100km(skill to add 5% in speed and range). Say a volume of 1.5m3 so 1 in a h-50 and 2 in a s-110(u'll have to make them expencive so ppl will be hesitent to use them otherwise the calderi will put on 6 launchers and kill everyone say 150k - 500k isk each). The counter would be that ew mod could confuse the onboard guidence of the torp.
I've also been waiting for the tracter beam, but as we dont have any towable objects we haven't seen it. A tracter beam could also be used to slow down objects (say my oponent so my 1400mm arty could get a more acurate hit). S M L so a bs could stop a frigate, slow down a crusier and anoy another bs. a large tractor beam would have a range of say 50km, large cap drain, little effect at long distance and large effect at short distance(Skills to adjust range and optimal range)(hi slot). The counter would be say ew mod(med slot) depolerising the hull so a tracter beam cant get a lock or out of phase shields.
Yeah the other thing i was goin to say was mines, a wider veriety please
