My goal in EVE has been to be able to solo lvl 4 missions, well now i can do that. Not sure about what do do next. I need a new goal. been thinking of maybe gettting a carrier or dread but being in a corp thats based in empire i dont know if im going to be able to use a capital ship. Eventually im going to join a pvp corp but not yet for awhile. As i said i need a goal that does not involve mining or pvp, something to keep me going forward.

If you can't find a goal for yourself, latch on to someone else's. Join a large alliance at war with someone and fight for your common benefit.
Or go and PvP on your own in Low Sec.
Or go live in NPC 0.0 for a bit.

Actually, you're wrong. EVERYTHING in this game is PVP.
Mining. You are playing vs others to aquire ore, and sell it at a profit. Other aquire more, and sell it for more then you do. That's PVP.
In the market, there are those who buy/sell. They pvp against other buyers/sellers. That's PVP.
People build things, and sell them. They try to corner the market on the items they build. That's PvP.
Mission running is the only thing in this game that isnt' a PVP aspect. WAIT.. We Mission ***** to be able to PVP.. So yes, Mission running is PVP still.
Everything in this game is based on you doing something to better yourself, at the expense of some other real person.
That's PVP.
So yes. This game is 100% PVP.

Remember that PvP means more than just shooting at people - anything that involves competition for resources (including ISK), is PvP.
Now that you can do that, why not put your efforts into something that requires more than common sense and SP? Learn the market, try and take over a trading hub, or even orchestrate a massive price gouging scheme for a widely-used product and see how players react. EVE is a sandbox, and you are more than free to run your own experiments. ---------------- Tarminic - 31 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.78.2 |

Yeah when you but it like that. But still I would not call eve a pvp game. I would call ita trade simulator or something like that.

Join a pvp academy, learn to pvp the slow but sure way, then join a nice pvp corp get used to it, maybe join a pirate corp see how it is from the other side, don't waste your sub fees, try all aspects of the game. have fun. Just when you think you've done it all, theres more to do!

Well... trading... hauling... um... I assume you dont want to go into low sec or 0.0.... that's um... yeah you've reached your end game. There's trading and hauling.
You could see how short a time you can get a lvl 4 down to, or get a navy raven and fit it entirely with navy raven fittings... but other than that... maybe... build some rigs from salvage?
Here's an idea.
do missions for a week. Get all that isk (100m ish?) Buy a new clone and jump into it (without implants) and join a pvp corp. You'll lose nothing, but have a new experience. Maybe you wont like it, in which case you hope back to high sec into your raven with all your stuff.... or maybe you'll really enjoy it.

Carebear - Invention - Exploration - Moon harvesting - Trading
PvP - Blockaderunner - Low sec pirating - Low sec Anti pirating - 0.0 small scale warfare (pirating without sec hits ). - 0.0 warfare - 0.0 solo ratting
Freaky peepz - News reporter - Scammer - Suicide ganker - Forum warrior
etc. much more to do.
To bad the only thing you found out untill now is missioning. Eve is what you make it.
Dreads & Carriers are only usefull if you start PVPfng. And not the kind of ships you want to start building your first experiences with. If you really are intrested, join something like eve university and get the pvp basics down.
Maybe you could check out the Cosmos missions in highsec. Some are easy, some are hard. Due to some limitations in the setup off the missions you are forced to try different ship sizes and adventure a bit to find out everything )and asking for help also good idea in local from tim to time). Could be fun in between thinking off what to do next.
ps: Solo lvl 4 setups and tacktics are quite different to PVP, so start with small stuff if your going for it.

Devs have said it's intended to primarily be a PvP game. The only part of the game that's not PvP is missions and shooting NPCs in general.

I pay $15/mo mostly for the privalege of talking in the forums and thinking about the Eve universe. I think Eve is much better conceptually than in execution.

missioning only serves 1 purpose. to make money to go pvp.
everything about eve is pvp related. Everything. in 1 one or another ends up being two or more ships fighting. all minerals go to building stuff. the money goes towards buying stuff. the money you pay to buy stuff is proly paying for someone else's pvp stuff.
follow any convoluted path of money in eve and its spent its last moments as space dust somewhere in eve.
Oh and a goal get yourself a 4 or 5 billion isk CNR or some other navy ship or faction BS the ships themselves aren't all that expensive. outfitting them with the top of the line equipment makes them expensive. oh and that money is going to someone somewhere who's pvping =>
Another goal. PVP. don't start large. stay in tacklers for a good month or two and get the feel of what needs to be done just cuzz yer a t1 frig doesn't mean yer completely useless. if you manage a tackle on something big that dies to yer gang just think. yer 400,000 isk outfitted tristan just helped kill a 120 million isk battleship.
definitely get with a corp that accepts noobie pvpers to train. you thought eve had a large learning curve before. wait till you apply that massive amount of info to pvp. =>
Do Not fly carriers or dreads unless you have 4 or 5 months of solid pvp exp under your belt, you'll just lose it and wonder why or how.
last but not least. if you pvp here is two lines of advice that will serve you well
#1: Its Not paranoia if they Really are out to get you. Cuzz in eve. they really ARE out to get you. #2: Don't fly ANYTHING you cannot afford to lose. That Isn't don't fly what you Don't want to lose, theres a significant difference _____________________________________________
It's NOT paranoia, If they REALLY ARE out to get you! |

Here is a goal - Find a low-sec system that you like - Create a new corporation - Recruit - Fill this low-sec system with a mining starbase at every available moon - Hire mercs from mission running money to clear the other starbases - Fill all the moons in system with your own corp mining POS - Recruit some more all the time - Expand to the next low-sec system, do the same - Build up, recruit
Then you will know much more about EvE and will have a different mind to make a new goal.

Edited by: Frances Ducoir on 18/01/2008 17:24:21 Edited by: Frances Ducoir on 18/01/2008 17:22:03 if you are a lot into missions and general carebearing i'd suggest looking into cosmos.
first there are cosmos areas for every race. use this as a quick reference:
cosmos page 1 cosmos page 2
afaik there are special cosmos implants which sell for quite a high price:
republic ops special field enhancer: +4 will +5% speed Shaqil's Speed Enhancer: 8% speed Ogdin's Eye Coordination Enhancer: 6% all turret tracking
don't ask me how you can get those apart from the odd contract... i'am still trying to figure out where they drop from. i think they are from special cosmos missions or cosmos officers (ogdin and shaquil seem to be officers... but where can you find them?)
you could start collecting those or maybe try to get a full slave /snake /crystal implant set.
hope that helps.
