Edited by: Maximilian Bozark on 18/01/2008 17:03:51 Hi all, I noticed there were a ton of mining calculators and spreadsheets around, but couldn't find an app to do this - so I wrote one.
With half-decent skills, most asteroids in a regular field can be depleted in less than three minutes. This app takes your skills (sorry manual input at the moment) and will time down to the second to tell you exactly when that rock is dead: you can deactivate your strip miners and move to the next 'roid with maximum efficiency.
Please use and share, if you like it, Maximilian Bozark could always use some spare iskies :) Comments greatly appreciated (please point out flaws but be constructive)
Download here from Eve-Files.com
Enjoy! Maximilian

Any chance you'll release source code for this? Definately could be useful application for mining.

Thanks, theres already a Mining Timer by Mr Xofar but He's stopped making it now. Yours is simpler and easier. I only have 1 request - the ability to have multipul timers, 1 for each Laser. Thanks for this tho, :D Garek

Jameroz - source may be out in the future, I was hoping for at least a short period of interest by other players, including isk donations from those who thought it useful, along with requests for change which I would implement.
Garek - nice idea. Personally I often found I would just concentrate all lasers on one rock. Of course this leads to re-activating them quite often so good cap skills are a must! I'll look into this as the first update.
Cheers, Max

Aslo you should add the oter mining % implants not just the 5%

People in general just feel bit safer when you can take a look what the software does. You don't necessarily have to give rights to redistribute modified source and it shouldn't effect negatively on the donations.
Got to be somewhat paranoid when it comes to Eve applications...

I once did a timer to use when I mined ice. As ice mining takes a while for a cycle to finish I thought it was a bit boring having to keep watch of my cargohold when I finally got some chunks of ice in there. In the timer you added your cycle time for the ice harvesters, then started the timer when you start the cycle. When your cycle was finished the app would make a sound.
I'm not a very good programmer and I'm not really happy about the app, and it has some bugs in it. If there is anyone having a program like this or is willing to make one it would be alot appreciated if you could share it

Hey Max,
Nice to see someone else providing more options for this much needed tool. Looks nice too. Although orange isn't exactly my favorite color, , but what do I know, I'm colorblind.
For the record though, I do still have the Miner Timer available at my site; see sig. Although, it is in need of a data update with the yield changes that have apparently taken place during my long hiatus for the game.
Again Max, kudos. ------------------

Edited by: Chruker on 23/01/2008 02:14:46 I've tried your mining timer however I got some wrong results when using the default config file. However when I changed the ore's volume from using . as the decimal seperator to using , it worked.
So I'm guessing there is some localization specific parsing in there somewhere.
I'm using an english Windows XP SP2, however it is localized to Danish where we use the , as the decimal seperator.
EDIT: Other than that bug, I would primarily like to see it giving a sound when the roid is done.

Hi all,
Thanks for the updates. V1.01 is now up (in the same location as before) -- fix for localisation bug in countries where comma is the decimal place separator -- user configurable colour (RGB values) in the XML file
eve-files seems to have cached the old version, even though I definitely have uploaded a newer one. Not sure how long until 1.01 will actually be downloadable :(

Nice tool. It took me a bit to figure out I needed to be running in windowed mode to see it in game. Other than that I have one comment: I have a Slot 10 implant that adds 1% to yield - the tool only let's me add 5%, so it isn't totally accurate for me.

You can edit the <yield>xxx.xx</yield> tag in the xml config file to match what your ship can mine, then it'll use that in the configuration. Just note that if you change the config it'll overwrite the file.

Hi all,
V1.02 available for download: -- allow choice of 1% 3% and 5% implants in slots 7 and 10
same place on Eve-Files.com
Again sorry if caching means you still get 1.01 - I'm not sure whether it's eve-files or just normal browser behaviour!

Nice tool Max. Always wondered why you're mining was so much more efficient than ours!
I would request also more mission specific ores: you have only the green aristide (sp?) but there's a least two more ores and one gas cloud. I will dig up the information for you.
Also, being able to print out a summary / graph of your mining after a certain time would be a nice bonus. Good job Max - nice you're doing this for the Mining community.

Hey again all.
Some more nice ideas coming in. First up from Elana Vaho: re her previous app which catered for ice mining.
I'd love to put this in, but I'm using my own character and skillset to ensure that the calculations I'm putting in this app are correct. Regrettably I've never been ice mining, and don't have the skill to do it, so I couldn't be confident about any programming changes. One for the future!
To Votrian Alpha: thanks for the kudos - the graph idea is pretty neat - I wonder if the data would rapidly become skewed though - I often forget to turn off / on all three lasers, or find I've chosen the wrong mineral type on the timer. If the data was accrued over a "session" it might be pretty inaccurate. Something to think about though!
Anyway, probably next change would be the separate timers so you can separate your lasers onto different targets.
Ciao for now, Max.
