I heard that a friend was getting 6 au/s while waping. Is that because he was in a frig? I get 3 au/s in my Thorax and thought it was 3 au/sec for any ship.

seems to have changed today
Kessie and Crow both warping at 6AU/s seems to be ship related rather than skills.
Not tried any of my bigger ships yet.

1 AU = 93 million miles speed of light = 186,000 miles/sec or 0.002 AU/sec
We've been ignoring the speed of light since the game launched.
If we tied ourselves to known physics, we would spend hours travelling from planet to planet.
When we "warp" we are supposedly bending the space between 2 points and somehow skipping from point a to point b through some mystical 5th dimension.
Games would suck if they were realistic.

The 3 au/second were already 1500 times the speed of light
Ciao, Aronis!

Haha what a n00b. You should quit the game, raise the EVE IQ average by a few points. And you call yourself a sci-fi fan. Pfft.

Might this have been an attempt at humour ?
Anyway, if induies now go 4.5 au, cruisers should be at 5 right ?
And will it make any difference to travel speed ?
Nope, afraid not, since the mos ttimze is spent apporoaching a gate. (unless you use instajumps of course).

Different ship classes will warp at different speeds and arrive at the same location at different times. (Frigates will arrive first, then cruisers, and finally battleships, then months later any Dominix's cos they are ugly)
Unless everyone warps at the same speed as the slowest ship... Thats another thing I haven't tried yet --------

Uh.. That Eve isn't obeying the laws of physics is no newsflash.. For example should you always accelerate when your engines are on.. ..

This is kinda lame. I think battleships should be able to warp faster than frigates. If you keep in line with the science fiction we've been spoonfed our whole life, huge motherships go faster. I don't recall seeing small ships ever going to warp 9 in star trek, and I seem to recall Han solo wondering how a lone frigate got so far out into space in the original star wars. And lets not forget Space Balls, when the Spaceball 1 went to ludicrous speed.

to reply to aforementioned comments; nothings faster than light they are ignoring the laws of physics
ummmm.... this game is very realistic NOTreal ... btw i apologize for ruining for those that live the game, i understand in a game you can do whatever the fudge you want thats the whole appeal to it. if ccp only incorporated real life, technologies, ships, items, etc. this would be a very boring game enjoy the game or don't play cuz your laggin up mine!

Edited by: Gaius Kador on 24/03/2004 23:52:33 Having frigs being fast warpers brings a new dimension to PvP actually. If you'd rather BS warp faster...
tsk tsk

I havent tried gang warp yet, but if this means that you cant warp as a group anymore and arrive at the same time then it does have it's disadvantages (or advantages, depending on you intercepting something or you attacking something).
This is a big change for deep space miners as well, since there is no way now an indy can outrun a frigate not using bms while using bms himself. Before it was a toss up who was faster (mainly depending on how big the jumps where), now its just either a very dead hauler or a very logged off/safespotted hauler (not to mention needing 2 or 3 ships to guard it if you would want to do that, 1 at each gate since you cant warp in at the same time (note though this is assuming gang warp doesnt end you up at the warp in location at the same time). -------- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs

first id like to point out that a frigate in eve is much bigger than a tie fighter.... and for another thing, the x-wings have warp drives.... and finally, its a totally different universe so dont compare the two! although if you do want to compare the 2 universes... where are the mixed fleets??? stop complaining cause your battleship now isnt the best ship for every job.....

you mean finally haulers will need escorting??? my god! the horror it might finally force people to start escorting their valuables around the universe....
imo its about damn time this happened, cause now frigates can actually intercept things and hopefully it'll add a more tactical element to combat (frigs emerging first to scramble/web their targets so that when the battleships arrive the targets cant escape) etc...

Does that mean people are going to have to hire mercenaries to hold off the ebil interceptors and transport their large goods?
/me rubs her hands together.
Currently, my eve friends, we are in a renaissance for mercenary corps.

Also, if you think of certain other universes like say David Weber's "Honor Harrington" stuff - the tiny ships are the really fast ones. The big ships are slow hulking brutes. There are plenty of reasons they can give why a small ship can go faster than a large ship. One of the easiest is just to say that the field generated around a ship puts more stress on that ship the faster it goes. A larger ship has a larger field which creates that much more stress.
I've been waiting for them to do this - if anything they should slow down the battleship warp speed to really even it out. Little ships should always have their purpose.

Okay that was my stupid way of being funny, sorry :)
Anyways.. i like it. Every little change that is good for any ship smaller than a BS, is good. I like my interceptor so much, i'm not sure if i ever want a BS again. Now, moving through the Universe is also twice as fast for me compared to a BS.
Nice work CCP. -------
